Good King Wenceslas has been my most favourite Xmas carol for many many years!!
If you can just pretend that the young woman is actually a man and that the packages in her arms are actually pieces of wood for fuel, then this will make much better sense. The mailbox indicates where she lives and the song says she lives next to the forest fence - which probably means next to the forest. Hence we have a forest!!
I can only work with what I got!! LOL
