my journaling reads:
I wont lie to you. I was just a little concerned about finding my way round the mean streets of New York. But I really neednt have worried. Its actually quite simple. Avenues and streets are laid out in a grid formation and run north to south / east to west respectively and both are in either alphabetical or numerical order. The grid layout makes finding the landmarks pretty straight forward too. You just need to keep your eyes open for all the BIG yellow taxis!
