A little self-reflection after my last layout post:
Oh yeah! Look at that girl. She thought she was so cool. She was pretty popular among her friends at this time in her life. She was at an age where everyone was in the *in crowd*. She had discovered music, Madonna and Duran Duran specifically, and had them plastered all over her bedroom wall. She was convinced she would one day marry Simon Le Bon. She even had her hair cut short and spiky just like his. She was a dreamer, and back then a romanticist as all young girls are. She had a keen sense of dress. She lived close to Holland at the time and would marvel at the big earrings, beaded necklaces and bold fashions in the stores. She loved to buy new clothes. She did it all: wild shoes, pointed shoes, loomy leg warmers, should pads, back-winged tops, skinny jeans and leggings. Not much has changed in that department. Shes still always partial to a new pair of heels. Her mother made the dress she is wearing having carefully selected both the pattern and the fabric. Her mother questioned her sense of style but was pleasantly surprised when it all came together. She loved that *ghetto blaster* gifted at Christmas one year and used it until she finally wore it out. She did that. Got something new, used it to death and then moved onto the next new thing as it arrived in her life. She was me in the 1980s except she could have been my own daughter. Deja-vous. Different girl, different era, different country, but many of the same personality traits. Photo: Year 1986/ Filed: 15 Oct 2011
