Journaling reads: I learned how to drive a stick shift on a 1973 VW Beetle after my husband and I were married in 1976. He was my teacher. He took me to the bottom of a hill.....in town.....and I stalled out..... with traffic backing up behind me. He threw up his hands and said, “You’ve got to get yourself out of this.” I was so angry with him! But when I finally got to the top of the hill I was determined that would never happen again! And it didn’t! It was the best lesson he could have taught me!

I created a gray layer and used soft light blend mode to lighten the bg paper so the script was not so bold.

Goodness, that would have been a stressful situation Vicky, but as you said, it certainly would have taught you how to handle those situations later on........... but I think I would have been cranky with just a tad longer about that!!! :lol23: Brilliant job on the photo treatment though, love the script showing through!

We used to call them V-dubs growing up and I can remember a group of us once having fun trying to fit in as many people as we could into one! I think we got to 10 but of course it couldn't be driven with people sitting all over the gear stick!! :floorlaugh:

Fun Story! The bright yellow bug is a real eye catcher and the photo treatment is the perfect amount of grunge. The script overlay on your photo treatment is nicely duplicated in the background.

Oh I think I might have hit him :floorlaugh: Then figured out how to drive that thing. I love this layout. Its extra special to me as my dad had many bugs just like that one. When he died, he had a yellow '72 bug in his garage. Its as in pieces as he was rebuilding it. I love this layout and how you treated the photo. Was the perfect paper for the effect.

fantastic page, wonderful treatment!
yes, I learned to drive in a car like that and a yellow Beetle was also my first car for many years, how I loved it and drove so much across Germany with friends

What a great story. That looks like an original bug too, not the new modern ones. I remember the hills with the stick shift lol. I've had moments of stalling when I learned. Ugh!! Fabulous page

What a great story! And the photo treatment is perfect for the old Bug. I love the nostalgic elements you added along with that perfect title.
