Journaling Reads: Remember how we used to play with our cousins, and all grew up together? To be fair, let's just say some of us decided that growing up was optional! Now, as we get more chronologically challenged, our family reunions have turned from fun holiday meals to not-so-fun-funerals. We are so blessed to have childhood giggles and goofiness with Tommy and his family. The way we reconnected was a total fluke, but what a wonderful fluke it was. Now, spending time with them in Key West is like the frosting on the cake, and I'm a throw away the cake and eat the frosting kind of girl. Hanging in an outdoor pool babbling on a January afternoon is nirvana for Minne-Snow-tans. Even a cruise ship looks good to me with my favorite peeps and a beverage. I can just admire the size and watch it come into port without having to get on it. After all, traveling with the entire population of Pine Island is not my kind of paradise, but everyone's definition of nirvana is different. Even wrinkles aren't so bad, and while I prefer wrinkled fingers from an afternoon in the pool to the face wrinkles, at least I can still move my face enough to form them with smiles, which is more than can be said for a lot of Hollywood folks. I learned a long time ago if I want to prove I've been on a vacay by being in a picture, I have to take selfies. A lesson before we left from my darling grandson Christian made it somewhat easier, but really not a whole lot better. Most have the "where am I supposed to be looking?" expression on my face.
