As we approached Mont Saint Michel, the tide was out and the beach area was bare. As we entered, we discovered that homes of he fishermen were outside the walls. The shops and restaurants were inside the gate, but we decided to explore this area later. We wandered along stony paths and stairways to our destination - the abbey at the top.
We climbed and climbed. Windows and gateways revealed the distant beach, hidden gardens, and mysterious paths. The structures appeared to grow from the rock. We caught up with the group and returned to the lower area of the island for lunch. I had an omelet, and James had pizza.
