aALift-Sunday Suit

Lifting the wonderful "Smokestacks" by helenedubois to document the overall I started to knit two days after I heard the new grand was on the way. My daughter had seen a similar overall for sale online and wanted one for her baby so...I bought a similar pattern, called the "Sunday Suit," and attempted to rise to the challenge. And, though this was the first time making a garment with legs (on tiny needles and in light fingering yarn no less), I just took it row by row and was able to finish the project. Proud of the result. I had fun with the thin strip masks for the photo, then created a background from a solid paper and a heap of spatters from the Transfer/Overlay section of the Artplay Palette. I used the wordart cluster as was, with the exception of changing the label words.

Love what you’ve knitted - seems a difficult job! But the outcome is precious!
And I heart the use of the thin strips. Beautiful.

What a beautiful garment you have created—how long did that take with the fingerling yarn? Love the masking on the page—grand interpretation

Thanks! Your Lift Layout was just what I needed to freshen my creativity for Yet Another Baby Page. The overall went relatively quickly because it is tiny! Still, there were new techniques...so I'd say I worked at it for about a month. I see adult sweaters online knit from fingering and it makes me want to scream! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Love Elliot's Sunday suit! (you are soooo talented!) Excellent use of the thin strip masks. (Elliot is growing fast!)

Elliott is so filled out and stretching that knit suit! (btw got a lovely message from Emma the other day). I tried knitting socks for a while but didn't like working with such thin yarn and small needles. Plus you had to sew on all those buttons! The think masks are perfect for a glimpse!

I see the appeal of knitting socks...but not for me. Anything that comes in pairs is a thumbs down. I made a few baby bootie sets and the pairs never exactly matched. Too lazy to do it over, too neurotic to not see it every time I looked at the knitting. Glad you heard from Em! I visit your quilt every time I'm at the house! It's truly magnificent. PS: Check out "Unraveling" by Peggy Orenstein. An excellent read!
