Memory is a mystery. What triggers a memory? What makes it real? Do I really remember this Christmas when I was 5 years old? Do I remember making the 45 minute drive to La Grande to spend the day at Grandma and Grandpas house? Do I remember that they got their very first dishwasher and we were all so awed and happy for them? Do I remember the gorgeous Christmas tree dripping in silvery, shiny tinsel and presents with colorful bows under the tree? Do I remember getting a red wagon to share with my brother? Do I remember a house full of uncles lounging all over the couchessome grumpy at the wee hour, some excited and helpful? Yesyes I do remember. I remember the feeling of love and family and acceptance and excitement and tradition and yummy food and laughter and togetherness. I think I will always remember those feelings and I know I can recall these memories because of the photos that I have that documented this. In todays world we have camera access at our fingertips all the time. Here I just have 4 precious photos of a monumental day that when I look at them, I feel so much nostalgia for a past life and treasured moments. So as I look back and remember, I am so grateful that I still take photos and keep memories fresh and alive in my loved ones minds because after all, memory is what its all about, then its takes away a little of the mystery when I see a photo to trigger my memory.
