Fish Creels and Knitting Needles

Halcyon Release new and **on sale** https://www.oscraps.com/shop/AnnaRelease-10-January-2020.html

This was our first empty-nest Christmas ever, as the kids had all decided on a home/away year holiday rotation so they were all away. Instead of just sitting around, we decided to drive down to PA to experience the re-enactment of George Washington's Crossing of the Delaware to NJ in 1776, which basically turned the tide of the Revolutionary War. It's the Super Bowl of historical re-enactors, and I highly recommend it. Before the crossing, we strolled the historic village and I snapped some inspiration for my Christmas dcor next year.

Photoshop Elements 14

I selected an Artsy Paper that would work with my photos and blended my main photo into the pattern on multiply blend mode, then added several duplicates of the photo on different blending modes with layer masks. To lower the intensity of the background Paper (Artsy #1), I duplicated the paper on screen blend mode and reduced opacity to 23%. I added my second photo in the textured frame, then the wordART. I then added the lace embellishment on the left of my main photo, the twig on the top, and the buttons, word labels and ornamental handle. I finished with transfers/overlays and by texturizing my layout by putting Artsy Paper #3 on top of the layer stack on multiply blend mode at 33% opacity.
The whole era intrigues me Laura. I've admired the needlework the women created and have attempted a few. Their door decor seems to be at the top of the scale - knitting needles and yarn, and fishing baskets - so unique, yet so perfect. Your day sounds simply delightful and fun. Enjoying the past. I love the door displays and your use of the palette colors and elements.

Love the creativity of women of throughout the ages! Know what you mean about the "empty nest" Christmas. Beautiful colors and design!

What a fascinating story! I'm a bit sad about your empty nest holidays, but am so glad you made it special. The reenactment sounds fascinating! George Washington was a remarkable man, at least as told in Chernow's biography. I LOVE that wreath, it gives me a crafty idea :)

Super cool! I love that you are going back. I lived in a small town that stayed in the style of the Revolutionary War into the sixties at least with candles in every window around town (not sure about now) and it is a warm and lovely memory for me.

That is a wonderful wreath! I can see how if would inspire your decorating next year. Glad you enjoyed the holiday.

Fascinating story about the wreaths! Beautiful blending to capture them! Sounds like a wonderful way to spend your day!

So charming and delightful. Gotta love that pioneer decor vibe. Glad you made your "empty" holiday memorable.
