2018 I Remember Anna Ch 2

I remember walking, as a child, to the office of my Dentist, Dr. Curalli, a distance of 1-2 miles all by myself.... His office was in the in the little community called Hillyard... not an official city, town just an area, but there were lots of stores, and bars, and other businesses... As I remember walking in the crisp fall air, and inevitably I would end up with a sore throat and a cold after these trips...

How sad that in todays world a child cannot go for any kind of a walk with out an adult present... without the parents getting sued for child neglect! Not sure things have changed for the better...? I would like to go back to a more trusting time.... stopping past the drug store and reading the comic books , was usually a part of this trip also! I was also allowed to walk to the Saturday matinee without adult supervision.

Wow, you went to the dentist on your own...so brave! Love the part of the memory about stopping to read comic books! I, too, miss those days of walking to places like the Dairy Queen down the street. Super take on the challenge, Liz!

Wonderful memories of the days when we felt no threat...I miss that also. Love the journaling and photos of your memories and home town.

Wow! So wonderful page! Love your journaling!

Love the journaling! I agree with you, as kids we rammed around the countryside! Congrats on the Standing O!

Congratulations on the Standing O!
It was simpler, more trusting time.
Thank you for sharing this memory.

super photos and heartfelt journaling, love the color contrast. and, I agree it was a much simpler time.

Congratulations on the standing "O" Liz. I too remember the freedom of being able to walk by myself to the dentist, the movie theatre, the little store down the road. So sad that children can no longer enjoy that freedom.
