This is an Art Journal challenge... NOT my forte... Normally I use photos... BUT... I decided I wanted to document a day that I have no photos for... It was last Sunday, June 17, 2018...
Fathers Day!!!
My father died many years ago... I think the year was 1983... My husband died 21 years ago, so no husband either... I have 2 sons who are fathers and a son in law.., and Oops... Just realized a Grand son in law, who I totally forgot to send greetings to!!!!
Anyway there is nothing special about the day for me any more... But this year ended up being different... a man I met last year who lives a couple of hours north of me was traveling through my town to the Bay area for his granddaughter's graduation... he had contacted me and asked if I would like coffee or brunch on his way home... I was delighted!! When he arrived we sat on my patio for a couple of hours catching up, then headed out to find something to eat.. Several restaurants had had Fathers Day Buffets, but it turned out we were too late... The first restaurant we went to had just closed for 2 hours to clean up before reopening later for dinner... I mentioned Red Lobster as an alternative and Tony said he had not been there in a long time, so off we went... Turned out we had just missed their Fathers day rush.... we were seated WAY in the back on a slightly upper level, which allowed us a view and a lot of privacy... the waitress was a real sweetheart... when we got to
discussing the differences in their lobster tails, she explained that the rock lobster was meatier.. So we decided to really splurge and go for Lobster, and we both decided that the Rock Lobster was what we wanted... We had a great conversation while eating, getting to know each other better... When we were done eating we came back to my house, where I showed him a paper scrapped album I had made from a vacation, my husband, youngest son and I had taken way back in 1984... Living in Alaska at the time we went to California, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington... Anyway, I knew there were many places Tony would be familiar with and thought he would enjoy seeing my life many years ago... then he headed home, arriving there, before dark... I Had a nice nap after he left and spent the evening talking to my boys on the phone...
Such a nice day!
