This was tough, but it's now behind us. While traveling in San Francisco early in the month, our rental car was broken into, our backpacks stolen, and we lost passports, my wallet and all credit cards, two laptops, and iPad, AirPods, my Kindle, my medications, and some precious irreplaceable items. But it was all insured, I have a new laptop and restored it from a pre-trip, but recent backup (we had to wait because we had to close all our credit cards and our bank accounts, since checks were stolen), and while I have been ill for the last week, I am starting to feel myself again with replaced prescriptions and some rest.
Lessons learned - keep those backups up to date, never leave anything in a car, even if the car is locked and nothing is visible, and maybe stay out of San Francisco (this part is really tough for me, feeling bad about my former home that I loved).
