Who is the Saddle River Inn?

I am a restaurant for sophisticated dining enhanced
by the simple charms of country lifestyle. Located in a
rustic barn alongside a tranquil pond, I grace historic
Barnstable Court with my century old presence. The Zagat
Guide consistently ranks me among its favorites. Since 1981,
my owner, Chef Hans Egg, has delighted my guests with innovative
creations, using perfected techniques and a unique approach to
classic French cuisine combined with the best of all that is American.

Tell me about your Chef/Owner.

Swiss-born, Chef Hans Egg began his training at the prestigious
Suvretta House in St. Moritz. His career included the Cavalieri
Hilton in Rome, the Nile Hilton in Cairo, the Swiss Pavilion at
Expo 67 in Montreal, the Stefanino in LA and Swiss Center Restaurants
in NYC. Hans opened my doors in 1981.

What about parties and special occasion dining?

I welcome corporate and social groups of 25 to 80 guests.
Special menu are offered for luncheon or dinner events.
A matter of pride underscores every aspect of your affair.
First-rate service is provided by my staff trained in the
European tradition of professionalism and gracious attention to detail.

What about food critics -- what do they say about you?

Zagat 2008 said Top flight is another name for this rustic yet
civilized French- American near the Saddle River thats been dealing
in delightful dining for more than 25 years, serving haute, sublime
fare that lends the quaint converted farmhouse setting an elegant touch;
blessedly, BYO helps suppress the cost of this superlative restaurant that
easily rivals the best.

I recently was awarded 4 stars by the Bergen record and was voted 2007
Best Service and Most Romantic restaurant in Northern New Jersey.
