This is it. They arrived home at last. Tomorrow the finale!

"December 29, 1930
On our last days travel we stared from Eugene at 6:45. Coming thru the mountains of Oregon the trees were covered with a silver thaw. When we reached Portland the wind started to blow and at one place, we learned later, the wind was blowing a 55 mile gale. All up the Columbia River Hwy the wind blew hard. The hwy was very beautiful with all of the falls frozen over. The road was very slick tho. We crossed the Columbia at Hood River on a tall bridge and entered Washington. Coming across the Horse Heaven Hills the fog was very dense and had not lifted for about a week and the frost was breaking the wires down and the trees were loaded down as if they had 4 or 5 in of snow on them...On the road from the lower valley we almost ran into a horse that was walking across the hwy. At last we arrived in the good old home town and Oh, the shock we gave everyone when we arrived!
