Who is ready for the weekend???
It feels like this one is the tipping point, the last one before the "official" winter holiday season begins. However, I feel like my mind is getting more focused on Christmas rather than Thanksgiving. Too bad that is just a few days away, and I am hosting. Blergh!

I am slowly working through some of the cleaning tasks, the ones I only do a few times a year. Yesterday was scrubbing coffee stains off the stairs. Caitlyn, Gary, and Tom end up dripping coffee when they go upstairs and if I cleaned then every time they did that, I'd never stop. So every few months, I scrub the stains and polish the wood. I also realized that I don't have enough chairs for everyone. Last year, I borrowed some from work, but I won't be in before Thursday to grab them. Scott says he might have a couple. I'll ask my mom if she has one or two.

I felt like my head was all over the place- and I messed up several parts of dinner. I think I was able to fix it but lemme tell you-- making a bowl-food salad was more complicated than it should have been LOL

Today I *have to* go to the FP even though I know it's going to be a long wait. Not going two weeks ago really made such a huge difference in the budgeting- I was $25 over budget for the week, and I had to go back to Shoprite yesterday and spent another $20.
It's going to be yucky and cold and rainy and I am going to be grateful and patient and kind.

Yoga this morning is a must. I think I am going to do the one for digestion, I had agita all night. Which wasn't great once I got it in my head that indigestion can be a sign of a heart attack. LOL!

I'm also looking at the Halloween siggie I still have up. I should make one to get ready for Winter (nooooo!!! :bawling: )

Wishing all of you a wonderful day and weekend!!!♥

One of my good Florida sister/friends just got diagnosed with breast cancer---ugh. We will be there to help her but it is always be a worry.
Sending good thoughts to her :praying2:
I hope you get your mojo back with all that time you are going to have to scrap...no work till Dec 6---oh my what will you do with yourself. I hope you do something fun during your time off
I'm hoping that I can work on Christmas gifts! Thankfully, I am still cleaning for my friends, so I won't be completely w/o money. That's the only drawback with my job are the hours are so unpredictable.
So exciting to have the backsplash in your house!
Went to bed to read at 7:30PM, turned the light out at 8:30PM and slept until 7:30AM!!! Yes, I was busy all day... stripped the bed, rotated mattress (so easy with the double fabric handholds), and did laundry: organized the books; scrapped a LO; searched for and downloaded images of books (for the book club tracker); and... yes... read a book then started on another one to read in bed.
No wonder you slept that long!
I started the Tom Hanks book last night but only got a few pages in before I was too tired to make sense of it :)
I jumped onto the Black Friday sales a few minutes ago and ordered an American style waffle iron from Amazon... it should be here this afternoon!!! :dancing6::dancingbfly: You can guess what I will be having for breakfast tomorrow morning,
Woo hoo!! Enjoy your oatmeal!! (JK!! :rotfl:)

we needed to go see Wicked For Good
yay!! Fantastic GNO! What did you think of it?
I can't wait until BFF, our girls, and I go after Christmas. I decided that I am going to scrap tickets for Sam and Cait and will pay for the real ones as a Christmas gift.
Its raining! Almost 40° and RAIN! WHY who said it was allowed to rain here? Now we have slop everywhere and the rain will freeze and grrrrrrrr really? Rain? Not amused.
Ick!! It's the same weather here today -- a little warmer but not by much. You know I'm happy that it isn't snowing here, but I understand what a mess the cold/snow/rain/refreeze makes.
I have a love hate of this announcement.
Same!!
So I suggest gift cards to eat out.
That is an option. My insecurity is that I can only afford $20-$25 max for each couple's gift. A $25 GC feels cheap to me. Not to mention my IL can drop >$25 on a bottle of wine without blinking. Makes it feel counterintuitive for them. Sheesh! All of my kids make more in a week than I do in months...
Not that it needs to be said, but my entire family understands and doesn't put any pressure on me. I do *that* on my own! Bwuahahaha!
we are working on an extension
Good thoughts that it works out!
So I had a heart-to-heart with Chat GPT and downloaded a new app, which actually makes the cataloging and tagging quite easy.
What app did you get?
David is doing his normal Friday at Habitat for Humanity. He says there is a school group coming today and they will be preparing lunch. I think he's a bit dubious.
I don't know why that hit me so funny but I laughed-snorted out loud! Did he survive?
I love my fingerless gloves. I also wear a hat in my office. But there's nothing to keep my nose warm. I wonder if I could knit a tie-on clown nose?
Oh my goodness, you are so freaking funny!!! I wear gloves/hat in my office too. Never thought about a clown nose! If you try that and it works, let me know!:floorlaugh:
.I am missing hubby a lot today.
((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))
It is that time of year, isn't it?
I just felt the urge o startmy new chapter by partcipating in The DailyO's again. ~Might as well jump right back in, huh???
Yes. Yes, yes, yes! :nod1:
And I request- scratch that- *require* --that you share as many pics of Peanut as you can ♥

Hugs, my dears!

Good morning all and welcome to the weekend! Although, it is pretty much the same as every other day. :lol23:

What's up for the day? Reading and scrapping and wasting time. But I get to do it all with Sydney so it sounds pretty wonderful to me!

I'm also looking at the Halloween siggie I still have up. I should make one to get ready for Winter (nooooo!!! :bawling: )
Well, take a look at my siggie...I'm still in summer time or Florida or something. Add this item to the to do list that won't get done today.

yay!! Fantastic GNO! What did you think of it?
I can't wait until BFF, our girls, and I go after Christmas. I decided that I am going to scrap tickets for Sam and Cait and will pay for the real ones as a Christmas gift.

I loved it...we both did. And every person that I know that has seen it loved it. I read a critic's review and they didn't think it was well done. I completely disagree. And that will be a great gift for Sam and Cait!

Its raining! Almost 40° and RAIN! WHY who said it was allowed to rain here? Now we have slop everywhere and the rain will freeze and grrrrrrrr really? Rain? Not amused.
We get that kind of weather sometimes and I hate it. The freeze, rain, thaw, freeze cycle is the absolute worst. And the dogs make a real mess then.

Going out for lunch at a Thai restaurant with some of the women from church; looking forward to a nice hot bowl of soup or something.
Did you get a nice warm bowl of soup? Sounds good! It's chilly here today. I talked to Brian this morning...he's back home in Iowa and I'm in Minneapolis with my daughter. I'll go home tomorrow. But he was complaining about the cold so I suggested that he make chili today. It really is getting to be that kind of weather.

OOOPS... just re-read the OS email and realized that the OScraps Black Friday Sale starts NEXT WEEK! But they do have a lot of wonderful things on sale this week!!! And I am behind on getting the challenges done this month (my own goal each month).
Thank goodness it's next week. Because I have a lot of work that needs to get done before then.

I'll be in and out and about here today! See you all then!

Good Morning Ladies.
Temps are more normal at 27° but all that rain first, yeah gonna be fun. At least is turned to snow at night and so it will be crunch which I hope adds traction. Not much happening today. Like Linda @LSlycord its gonna be the same as all the other days, read, scrap, do nothing :floorlaugh: I am starting to feel normal with aches and pains. I can almost walk at a normal pace and keep up with hubs. So Monday for sure Wednesday will be life back to full steam ahead. Oh wait, I dont have to cook at church this week. Thanksgiving. Oh yeah, pull turkey from freezer so it thaws. 24 lbs wont thaw quickly. UGH forgot. Oh well at least I will feel good enough to make the dinner. Off and running to do nothing. Have a wonderful day.

My kind of wonderful! Question: you mention cooking for church? Is that a fellowship activity or an outreach? I’m curious
On Wednesday night we have an AWANA program for the kids. Years and years ago they started making soup to feed the volunteers before the program started. Most people get off work at 5 and then the program starts at 6. Its hard to get kids there and fed. So as the years progressed and different people took on the volunteer job of cooking its gone from soup to soup and salad and then a few casseroles. We serve anywhere from 140-180 people each Wednesday. The kids and adults all fill up and then are able to focus on the job of ministering to the kids and the kids pay attention. This is my 8th year doing this and its such a blessing. I love to cook but am not so good with littles and their noise so its a perfect fit. The families love it as its one less thing to worry about between work, life, school, and getting to church on time. We serve from 5:30-6:00 and you would be amazed how fast you can get 150 people through and how much food is gone in ten minutes. We have a rule that seconds aren't available until 550 since some people come in the door at 550 as they got off work at 530. Some dinners I stand next to the table and make sure no one goes early for seconds. So far, we have come close but haven't run out. Only once did I not get dinner. I eat after everyone else.

Edit: 8th year in charge and I have several wonderful people who help me cook, make dessert and then another crew who does the dinner dishes and another who cleans our dining room.

@faerywings Looking ahead to Christmas instead of Thanksgiving you are rushing it. I know you want to get over winter!!!
What about lottery tickets instead of gift cards....they could end up with more than $25 and it can be exciting. If everyone is there at the same time you could have them trade if they want --sorta like a Yankee Swap.
I hope you locate enough chairs for your dinner, do you have outdoor chairs you could use? We did that once.
I hope you are feeling better, I find the older I get the easier my indigestion acts up...just another thing to look forward to in older age--LOL. I hope your trip shopping was a success.

@AK_Tracy Years ago we used to raise a pig at my parents house for meat/hams/bacon. Our Italian neighbor always wanted the head to make head cheese. She cooked it till there was a jelly substance that held the meat chunks together, she put lots of black pepper in it. I tired it once it was a little weird but tasty, it made her husband happy cause it loved it.

@terri brrrrr you have to wear gloves and hat in the office...I would really hate that. Put an electric heater near your desk. I hope you enjoyed your Thai food...What did you have? I love green curry the best but they have some fabulous foods!

Yesterday we went over to the club to prep the turkeys so they can go into the oven and roasters this morning. We are supposed to be eating at 3:00 so need an early start for the 5-27 lb turkeys. Club president says we will have close to 100 people. I brought one turkey home to cook. I am making a bacon and pea cheesy casserole and a huge tray of stuffing as that seemed to be a week point in the pot luck sign up. We are also smoking a small ham so it will be a busy morning here.

Well that is about it I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend.

Sunday, Sunday.... *sung to the tune of Monday, Monday*

La laaaa lalalahaaa

Ok, I promise I will stop singing right now. No one needs to wake up to that.

Man, oh man, I am so proud of myself for remembering to put the Actonel box by my phone and water bottle last night. I would have been super aggravated if I forgot about it, was looking forward to coffee, and then had to wait. The horror! It's bad enough taking it before I get out of bed and still needing to wait a bit.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the FP. I only waited for an hour and a half. I was teasing them about how they were cooking! They must have had a ton of extra help in the stock room area. I got and gave the biggest hug to the fantastic woman who runs the whole program. She makes everyone feel so welcome.
I was still all over the place in my head when I got back. My cleaning project was to sort out one of the cabinets in my kitchen. I only have one largish bottom cabinet that is triangle-shaped, so I have to literally climb halfway inside it to reach the back. That means things get shoved and piled where no one can reach or see them. Every once in a while, I pull everything out, toss out the bags of stale chips, expired cereals, etc.
I have no idea what I did the rest of the day. Dinner was delish (seitan gyros and tzatziki sauce) but had to be done in a bunch of steps and stages. That kills any momentum I have in getting things accomplished.

Is it a "getting older thing," not being able to switch from one activity to the next without getting totally off track?

What is up for today? I have to strip the bed. Yoga. Finish my grocery order- I started it while I was waiting to get coffee, so I don't fully trust what I ordered so far. I have one more window to plastic over. I did two yesterday in between dinner steps. Grate the cucumber to drain, cover the window with plastic, squeeze out the cucumber, shrink the window plastic. So on and so forth.
Gotta wash and blow-dry my hair. That's half a day's project right there. LOL

Please tell me you have something happening more exciting than that :giggle4:

Love and hugs!
I'm still looking at my Halloween siggie.

What's up for the day? Reading and scrapping and wasting time. But I get to do it all with Sydney so it sounds pretty wonderful to me!
That is pretty darn wonderful!
Add this item to the to do list that won't get done today.
:floorlaugh: You crack me up!! And you are correct-- I see you are still basking in summer-siggie mode. Can't say I blame you for not wanting to change that.
Temps are more normal at 27°
It is 28* here. Why is NJ the same temps as AK the last few days?
So Monday for sure Wednesday will be life back to full steam ahead. Oh wait, I dont have to cook at church this week. Thanksgiving. Oh yeah, pull turkey from freezer so it thaws. 24 lbs wont thaw quickly. UGH forgot. Oh well at least I will feel good enough to make the dinner.
What good news that you are feeling up to cooking. Just don't push yourself. (again with the pot/kettle stuff LOL)
What is AWANA? You are an angel on earth doing that every week :loveangel:
I know you want to get over winter!!!
Who me??

What about lottery tickets instead of gift cards....they could end up with more than $25 and it can be exciting. If everyone is there at the same time you could have them trade if they want --sorta like a Yankee Swap.

Have a wonderful time!! (Make sure you take breaks off your feet :D)

Good morning ladies. What a great day yesterday was. A nice slow day. Made our Swedish meatballs and they really were good. Did a lot of nothing...and watched a very bad football game (Florida vs. Tennessee). And we read or played on the computer (me) or our phones (both of us). And it was a treasure.

Is it a "getting older thing," not being able to switch from one activity to the next without getting totally off track?
I think that it is... And it is frustrating.

Please tell me you have something happening more exciting than that :giggle4:
Well I do have that wonderful 4 hour drive to look forward to. Honestly, I'm so grateful that it is 4 hours. I'm going to pout all of January after I drop Syd in Florida. And probably all of February, March and April.:sad2: But for now I'm going to enjoy every minute. Right before bed last night she told me that I need to start taking things back to Iowa today. I've been trying to get her to talk about moving out of here all week and she decides to talk about it right before bed. :lol23:Of course she does.

That sounds like a great day...and an exhausting one!

Have a good day everyone. See you on Monday!

Our Italian neighbor always wanted the head to make head cheese. She cooked it till there was a jelly substance that held the meat chunks together, she put lots of black pepper in it. I tired it once it was a little weird but tasty, it made her husband happy cause it loved it.
Yes, hubs did this once.:sick::sick: We still have some in the recesses of our freezer.
What is AWANA? You are an angel on earth doing that every week
Awana is a worldwide nonprofit ministry focused on providing Bible-based evangelism and discipleship solutions for ages 2 to 18. As the global leader in child and youth discipleship, Awana gives children the opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus, no matter their background.

Midweek Bible Curriculum

God-sized faith meets kid-sized fun in Awana Clubs, where children ages 2 to 18 find community as they learn Scripture and come to know and love Jesus.

I googled just to be accurate. We do the midweek clubs on Wednesday. Its a huge deal and we have so many kids, I want to say around 120 kids but that includes the teens who go to youth group while the 6th grade down the 3 years old do AWANA. Its a fantastic outreach and so much fun.

Not too much happening today. I feel good enough we're headed to church. Will be fun to see everyone and catch up. Feels like I was gone forever LOL two week vacation one week home and then gone for surgery and recovery two weeks. It feels like eons and eons and eons. I am thankful church is online for those times but I so enjoy the richness of being in the body worshiping. Need more coffee and to feed the dogs. Oh and Chris, its 27° again. Hope youre warmer.

Have a great day and see you this afternoon!

Yawning.... the phone woke me up at 8 AM... it was DD#1 calling to wish me a belated happy birthday. I had stayed up until 11:30PM working on tracking pages for the book club!!! :floorlaugh: Had calls yesterday from DD#2, DGD, Sister, and a couple of friends. And received this beautiful 'Edible bouquet" from DD#3. It has cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, and frosted strawberries. You can guess what I will be eating for the next few days. dance3 That will be my fruit salad along with pork chops and cubed potatoes for supper tonight...

Just downloaded a bundle that I need to work on ASAP... Will try to get back later today if I get the LOs for it done.

Back in the 90's before we moved to WV in 97, the church we were affiliated with had Olympians Bible Club on Wednesdays. It's like Awana. I was the director and it was a lot of fun! We probably only had half the number of kids that you have, however.....if that many! I had my first broken bone during the program.....we were playing a game of "Steal the Bacon". The kids line up in 2 long rows facing one another. They are each given a number. The "bacon" is situated between the teams (we used a pair of sock as the bacon). Someone would call a number.....or more than one number.....and those numbers would rush to the bacon and try to grab it and get it back to their team before someone tagged them. When my number was called, I rushed to the center and grabbed the bacon before anyone else got there, turned around to run back and my feet got all tangled up with one another and I fell to the floor. My right wrist was broken right at the hand. OOPS! Here's the way the playing floor was set up:

It was a lot of fun! Do you have game time in Awana? I miss the agile days of my 30's and 40's.

Good Afternoon,
My weekend went zippideedodah right out the window!
Turns out Thanksgiving will be served twice here at our house....Thursday and Sunday. So part of my weekend was spent making a grocery list to equal $35 twice so I could get a turkey each time for $0.29/lb instead of $2.79/lb. So I saved about $80! So, I guess you could say I got a good deal! ;)

Yesterday I started cleaning and putting things away that tend to not get put back where they belong! A lot of it being Mark's and stuff that needed toted to the woods. I pulled tables and cabinets out from the wall to sweep behind. Plus I had to do laundry and I washed bed linens, towels, my clothes and Mark's work clothes. By last night I was pooped! It was nice to go to the woods and sit on the porch and do our evening devotion and then play Qwirkle for a couple of hours.

It got so warm working in the house yesterday that I ended up kicking the AC on!

It was after midnight by the time I was working on my 30 day project. So I did the one for Sunday, too, since it really was Sunday! I also had to do Friday's and Saturday's days. Whew! I cannot believe we have only one week left in November! And then the craziness of December begins! OY VEY!

We called in a Chinese lunch order before we left church today after Mark did his taxi servicing, LOL! Dorothy, who's van we use, and I wait at the church while Mark takes the other handicapped guy home. So, she said she would like to order Chinese, too. It was good, but it is way more than we can eat in one sitting! Guess what is for supper tonight?! ;)

I think I will work on my menu for Thursday and do some crossword puzzles on my phone. Tomorrow morning I will be taking Ilene to a doctor's appointment and then we will go to COSTCO. I want to get a pecan and pumpkin pie for Thursday and Sunday.

Have a great rest of your Sunday!

Good afternoon ladies. It's been a busy wkend. Friday I was at a large xmas market and then we rushed back in the late afternoon to go to our club pot-luck and dice game social event. Then early yesterday morning Jen and I headed out to a market for the day, did ok in sales but got some great advice for marketing the kids bracelets. Ordered a UV flashlight to showcase the glow-in-the-dark bracelets (much better than using a regular flashlight or phone flashlight) and then ordered some other kid things to sell at our next 2 markets for the year. Came home to walk Remi and then have a late quick dinner before watching a few hrs of tv before bed.

Then this morning, Jen and I headed out to meet up with friends and go visit their new foal (Billy Ray), he is so adorable. He's about 3 wks old now. It'll be fun to visit and see him grow. Him and mom will be at the ranch for 6 mths before coming back home to the other 2 horses, 2 pigs, bunny, 2 dogs and 3 cats. My friend has such a fun household :)

Today I will start putting away home decor, getting ready to start putting out the holiday decor and need to create a few centerpieces. The tree is up but undecorated until next wkend as I have new decorations coming soon. I am looking forward to staying home for the rest of the day. It's been a busy wk and the new wk is busy with appts in addition to our regular activities so this afternoon is my time to relax and putter. I also have a book to finish as its due back to the digital library in 7 hrs so I am trying to skim through the last few hundred pages in time.

I'm going to make some lunch, read a bit and then carry on with my afternoon. We have snow coming tonight and tomorrow and then later in the wk so it's going to look pretty out there with fresh snow.

Yes, we have game time. They start out all together for opening, then split off to different areas, rotating. Games, book work, and council time (hear a story and lesson). Each age group, (Cubbies, 3yo to K, Spark, 1st-3rd, TNT (forget what it stands for) 4-6th grade), take turns and rotate through the different things. Its two hours, not including dinner.

Grab the bacon, well, if ya have to break a bone, at least it was over bacon :giggle4: Sounds painful though.
