Today is gonna be a GOOD day!
I say it and it will be done.

*knocking on wood over and over again so I don't jinx myself*

(Yes, I am using my knuckles, not my forehead. At least for now. )

I survived yesterday and all was well. Just some mild mood swings after my interesting start to my day. I hate how my heart rate goes from 74 bpm to three million with one phone call. One day, I swear I'll find a way to get my anxiety under control. It won't be in the next few weeks, but I can try to make it a little better. Maybe. Hopefully.
I also have big dreams of getting my life on track, but I have been wishing that for decades. Lowering my stress levels and anxiety might actually be more easily accomplished! :p

What did I do yesterday? It was another day that felt like I accomplished nothing. I scrubbed and sanitized all of the bird feeders from my friend. Her DH has been concerned about "his" birds, especially hummingbirds. I told her that I have been having a ton more birds at my feeders, including the hummingbirds. As soon as the dew dries this morning, I'll wrap them up and get them ready to store until spring. I did a little weeding and deadheading of the bee balm. Occasionally, I can get a second bloom from them but can't figure out the rhyme or reason why it works or not. Do you have any ideas?
Maybe I am not getting the timing right?

My mom called me to go over stuff for the trip to PA this weekend but she was mentally *all* over the place. I suggested that she take care of what she needed to do and call me back when she felt more settled. Never heard from her so maybe she never got it together. 100% relatable. ;)
I scrapped another prerelease and I swear the kit was made for me. It's about mushrooms. I have an entire (large) folder dedicated and stuffed full of pictures of mushrooms.

Off to pick up my groceries this morning and then clean for my friend this afternoon. I'd like to get some planning done for upcoming programs in September. I got an email that I am officially registered at the ANJEE Conference as a presenter. (!!!! -- There's that anxiety level kickin' in again!)
ANJEE is the Alliance for NJ Environmental Educators and the Autumn Conference is in September. Our workshop topic is Educating for a Changing Climate/Eco-Anxiety. It's a great topic but I am going to have a heart attack by the time it's over.
I chose my topic for the next HS Pod Field trip and want that plan prepped today or tomorrow. At least having the bulk of it written out. The more I can prep now, the less I'll have to do once Sept hits.

deep breaths....
I got this!

And so do all of you

:grouphugyay:

@faerywings Oh Chris Your chatter makes me what to cry too...I feel so bad for your situation/s. It's tough for your dad I am sure but being his choice should be a comfort to you too. It's so good that he realizes it's time--kudos to him. I'm sure your emotions are running crazy with all that you have going on. So sad your hubby is having a bad time too. Breathe.
It's been a lot of upheaval and when I run low on my mental reserves, everything becomes "huge." I have difficulty not taking on everyone else's emotions and it all gets bogged down inside me. I frustrate myself because I know better but it's impossible to untangle it. I was hoping to get one last day with BFF before she went back to work but that fell through. Her job was "deleted" (why can't I think of the proper word? It will come to me later) after 15 years and was given a different role, needing to go back this week. She would understand and talk me through it-- or at least commiserate and make me laugh.

Aww! So sorry for all of the emotion at play for you lately! :hug4::hug4: How old is your dad?
Be sure and wear rubber gloves when cleaning the bird feeders!
Hope working outside helps your emotional state! Tears are a good thing, BTW! :hug4::heartpumplove:
Thank you! My dad is going to be 87 in November. His health has taken a big hit recently -- just a few years ago, he was still driving the fire trucks on calls.
I appreciated the reminder and I did grab gloves before I started scrubbing :)
Tears are not a good thing when you are scared you won't be able to stop once they start. I have *years* of emotions inside of me that I am ignoring. It is so unhealthy. I recognize that. Can I fix it? I try to deal with it on the edges.
If I keep at it:
also have big dreams of getting my life on track, but I have been wishing that for decades
:rotfl:

Hope you and Mark had a wonderful lunch together!

@BrightEyes Hope you had an easy time running your errands. The CPs are amazing (as always). I did three-- count 'em-- three! -- pages so far. That has to be the most ever for me.
How many did you do? Can't wait to see them in the gallery :D

Just loving this cooler weather. Not to worry, @faerywings , you know there will be more summer heat before fall is truly here.
:nod1: Yup, that is true!
"you can relive it if you want."
:jawdrop3:

Staten Island must have been terrifying. All of the NYC and NJ areas were horrible to watch. I can't imagine living so close to the ocean. It was horrible here with all of the trees down everywhere. We have pine forests throughout my town and seeing huge stretches of them blown over was crazy. We had local flooding but not like you did.
HA! Just opened my Gmail and read this quote from the Almanac email:
"Don't knock the weather: nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while."
—Kin Hubbard, American humorist (1868-1930)

I have to say that this doesn't apply to us, so the 10% of the people must frequent this thread.....because we can start a conversation about ANYTHING!! ;)
Without a doubt!! I love this group and all of the topics we share!
:groupchat:
WTG on the vacay pages!
Quick in and out. Have to head out to cards in a few min. Had a long but slow walk in the morning heat with Remi. Jen, D and I all won at bingo last night. So did one of our friends. Fun night!
Congrats on the Bingo wins!
We were teasing Caitlyn about the traffic cones. Once he knew that everything was fine, Gary was LOL-ing too :D
We leave in the morning for our last campsite for this trip, it's bitter-sweet. We will be home on Friday.
Easy driving vibes to you~~~
What a lovely trip you have had.

Oh Chris, this is so hard. Its much better when they decide for sure but man, what a month you've had. NO wonder youre all over the place and wondering where the brain went.
Yeah, this has been a rough summer emotionally, so many changes with all of the people I love. I hate feeling like I can't help. Other than listening, there has been nothing I can do.
How's the desk? Is it dented?? I use to always ask my kids when they hit their head on something (usually table corner) did you damage my table? Or the wall LOL They would look at me like I was nuts. Well, hate to tell them but I am nuts. :floorlaugh:
The desk is fine, other than the dents from previous head-banging sessions :lol23:
You? Crazy? Naaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh
*snicker*

Today was Costco.
ugh. That is all I got.

Art Addicts kits are amazing! I used them for my Aug AJ challenges and they are super cool and easy to work with. Have fun!

Love to everyone!

Morning, all.

Good for you, Chris!!! Yes, there is so many beautiful Color Play bundles this month. I have done 9 CP Layouts but have my eye on a couple more that I would love to work with. :yesss: dance3

Not sure why but the shoulder took a down-turn and is hurting big time again. << sigh >> Could be the higher humidity. We had rain yesterday evening and woke up this morning to wet streets. At least the temps will be in the high 80's... not the high 90's. Saw on the news that there was a black bear roaming around our town... but at least it was a couple of miles from my house. I saw a wolf trotting down the sidewalk in front of the high school earlier this year... and there has been warning about coyotes in town. Usually those sightings are in the foothills in Albuquerque.

While I was at Smith's yesterday, I checked the pharmacy and they have the flu vaccine. I take DD#1 to the airport tomorrow morning so will wait a few more days before I get it. Give my shoulder a chance to improve (and get through Color Play releases). They said the Covid vaccine should be in by next week. Want a week between shots.

Good morning ladies. I'm heading out to an eye exam soon. I'm trying a new glaucoma clinic today. It's in a mall I've never seen so it'll be fun to wander around the mall for a bit as my eyes adjust back to normal so I can drive home. The parking will be free since its at a mall which is better than the last place b/c they charged $7 to park. I'd rather use that money to buy myself a coffee :)

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Ladies!
How is everyone? Still crazy I see!!! I'm in the right place then :floorlaugh:

Did I ever tell you all about my son and his corn plant? We have dried corn we grind ourselves for cornmeal and corn flour. Hubs was grinding and saw a blue corn kernel. He gave it to my DS3 who can grow anything and told him to plant it and see what happens. Now, its in the house cause outside it too cool for corn and we dont have a greenhouse. Well, that stinker grew it!!! Its not moving as fast as my MN man is use to but look at this plant!!!

IMG_1741.jpg
We have ten foot ceilings (thankfully) and that plant is almost to the top!!!! And look!!! It grew "silk"
IMG_1742.jpg

what's not in the photo is that an ear is started!!! The kid is growing corn in AK and has an ear of corn forming. Soon they will take the "silk" (the top fuzzy stuff) and fertilize the corn ear and we shall see what happens. It wont be edible (dont know why, didn't listen when he said) but he plans to grow more corn next year. Why? Because its fun for him. BUT he's gonna need a green house. This sucker takes so much space. Its been an interesting summer watching this thing grow and to finally see the "silk" appear. They've been waiting for a month for it to show. Its behind in normal corn timelines but hey it arrived.

Today is dog to vet day. Her lump has grown and she split it open. Doc said last year it was a clogged duct and not to worry but watch. So this past month its grown and now its split open. Dont know if its from her scratching or what but waiting to see if they can get us in today. I dont wanna pay emergency fees. Then I have to take all the fridge groceries to the church and put them away. This day got busy and it was suppose to be a stay home and do nothing day. Oh and I got to get more groceries cause ya know Costco doesn't carry everything I need. :floorlaugh: Why is life so expensive? we just wanna eat.

Off and running. Have a wonderful afternoon!

Yes, Mark and I had a great lunch!
Good job on getting all of the feeders cleaned! Glad you remembered the gloves!
I am soooo glad the major portion of the vacay pages are done! I still want to do a few random ones!

I've "heard" that there are male and female corn plants???? And you can really have corn without them both???? Not sure but maybe that is why the corn is not edible from this one plant? I don't know what I'm talking about, LOL, so don't listen to me! But I've always heard you can't plant just a little bit of corn for it to do any good! ????

Good afternoon,
Spent a few hours with Ilene today. We played some Qwirkle while we were waiting on a call from Dorothy who was waiting for plumbers to leave so we could pick her up for lunch. Well 2 1/2 hours later I called and what was supposed to be 2 hours they told her turned into not being done until 4 p.m.! So she had to cancel going with us. We will have to include her another day.
After we ate, we went back to the house and played another game of Qwirkle then I left so I could get some pre-release pages posted that were released on Monday. Tomorrow I will post my CP pages because I've posted all the pages I can for today and yesterday (I had to carry one of the 6 from yesterday over to today's 4) OOPS!
I do want to go over and check out some of the other CP kits this afternoon.
Have a great afternoon!

I have no idea. Like I said, I tuned them out. Hubs has all the experience with corn so I just let him and DS3 to their things. I know the silk has the pollen the corn needs so they will manipulate that to get it to grow. But why we cant eat it I dont know :floorlaugh: Didn't care enough to listen. Its just huge and funny they got it to grow.
