Daily Ooos: August 9-10: Weekend Edition

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
It's the weekend! And nope, I am not working today. Housework and yardwork for sure, but nothing where I get paid. That's all good, though. I put in a long day yesterday.
My dentist appt went great - no cavities, healthy gums. I went right to work from there and the weather could not have been nicer. It was a beautiful day to hang out in the woods. The camp counselor I was working with didn't have much planned for the kids so I pretty much talked/showed stuff to the kids who were interested in something. After lunch, we built a fire and made s'mores. One of the kids brought in dryer lint as a firestarter-- so smart, I am going to keep that in mind for next time I make a fire. That helped a lot, and the fire was a good one. I reeked of smoke by the end of the day. :D

We had leftovers for dinner, thank goodness. By the time I got home, showered, and scrubbed my hair clean, I didn't want to spend any more time on my feet than I had to.
Today is FP day and then I have random things to do around here.
Maybe I can rework my AJ page into something that I won't hate.

Wishing all of you a wonderful, fantabulous day!

I gotta agree. I still think of it as the Raritan River Bridge even though the signe says differently. And, yes, I love hearing my dad's voice each time. If I recall correctly my sister says same.
And YES! I know the Stickle bridge for sure - so funny you thouts it was Pickle! :floorlaugh:

Yup, the Pickle Bridge.
I hope you have the same lovely temps as here. 59* when I woke up yesterday and a high of 80* -- supposed to be pretty much the same today. Although I need to start putting socks/sweatshirt next to my bed. My room is warm when I get into bed, especially if the dogs are with me. But waking up- I am freezing and do *not* want to get out of bed at all!

Quick in and out today. Just feeling off and can't think.
That is understandable. I hope that today is an emotionally easier and more settled one.
Good luck with the weather!
Here's my "funny" NJ bridge story. I commuted for 15 years to Staten Island on the Outerbridge Crossing, which showed up on my EZPass statement as OBX. The we moved to Virginia, and I see all these cars with OBX stickers. I'm so confused, why do people in central Virginia care about the Outerbridge? I lived here two years before I discovered that the OBX stickers refer to the Outer Banks.
That is hysterical! :floorlaugh:
I would have thought the same thing. My brain would not accept OBX as anything other than *my* OBX LOL!!!
My mom will not do any banking online, not even checking an account balance, so I understand you for being cautious with a big check.
Be careful today with trail work and bring extra water, just in case!
Well, sometimes if its sunny, I grab a book, a beer and my phone. I sit out side reading a book and at the right time, order dinner to be delivered. But we have to have some major crispy edges for all three to come together. Otherwise I just push through until the edges soften and function again.
That is usually what I do, push through and wait it out. Unfortunately, that is often when I do the most damage. So many mistakes and flubs when the brain is overcooked LOL
It rained all day yesterday. Its suppose to rain for the next three days. We need it. However it could have chosen different days. We have plans to camp, were talking tent camping, nothing fancy, and of course its raining. Oh well it will be fun anyway.
Rain rain, go away!!
Hope that you have a fantastic time, even in the rain. Think of all the photos you can take!

opped in earlier this morning to upload a couple of new release LOs and check on my challenge.
I loved your challenge this month! The template is awesome!
How sweet of DD#3 and her DH to visit with DD#1 before she left. Was her trip back home uneventful?
Good idea to stay inside with the heat and smoke advisories. Stay safe!

@faerywings I'm sorry my answer is so late. I grow my monarchs in a habitat or 2-purchased from Amazon...I get the caterpillars/ eggs on leaf off the outside plants then put them in the habitat so I keep them feed and watch the progress. The lizards eat the eggs and tiny babies so it's safer for them in the habitat.
No worries! I appreciate you writing back at all. :)
I think that we don't get enough eggs to make it worthwhile to have a habitat, although I wish we did.
Yesterday, the kids were fascinated by the cicada shells, we even got to see one halfway out of its exoskeleton. It wasn't looking too healthy and we weren't sure if he was going to be successful. We checked on it when we came back to the tree and he was gone! I guess it takes a while for their wings to expand and dry out like a butterfly.

Have a fantastic time at the birthday party!! I hope the day is wonderful-- although I can't imagine how it could not be. Reed is going to have a blast.
Did you get pics of him moving the wood chips with the bucketloader?
Last night I went to meet the lady who bought my parents house and found my dads wedding ring. They are so nice and I was able to tour my mom's old gardens..it's been 13 years and last owners of 10 years didn't take care so most have died. The trees got huge ...it was bitter sweet going there. I put my dad's ring on the pointer finger with my emerald and diamond band...it's perfect., so now I have mom's rings on right had and dads on left. I feel bad but I am not sharing with brother and sister but I am the oldest!!!
What a special time and visit. It must have been emotional, and you must be thrilled to have your dad's ring ♥

Morning, all. Been busy this AM commenting on LO over in my challenge. Then scraping around with a new release. :D Need to get it uploaded here and in digi-land places. May end up making it a PJ day and staying in all day due to the hot, hot, hot temps and smoke haze! UGH!!!

Yes, DD#1 made it home just fine... and traffic was fairly light all the way. I always breath a sigh of relieve once she calls. She was so glad to be back with her family... but didn't like the 113*F temps there.

I save my dryer lint for Mark to use to help start fires. I think he stuffs it in TP tubes and pours paraffin on it.

I think we all survived yesterday's emotional rollercoaster! Thanks for thinking of us/me!

Good morning ladies. I have hot water again...yay! Yes, Chris, this week was a PITA!

I have been working on the kids line of bracelets and its been so much fun. I can't wait to sell them in a few wks at the next market. It'll be fun to watch them try them on and see which ones they prefer.

I'll be grocery shopping and getting the patio and deck ready for tomorrow's BBQ. I might make beans in the crockpot if I have time. We'll have so much food but I know beans go so well with burgers and hotdogs.

Finished Yellowstone 1923 and the last two episodes of the series was soooo good.

I had to walk away twice b/c of questions and chores going on in the house LOL. I think this means I should get off the computer and get on with my day.

@faerywings Here is a sampling of the kid bracelets I have been working on.

Good afternoon,
Another day has gotten away from me. My granddaughter picked me up and we went to Hobby Lobby. She bought stickers for some pictures she wants to print out. I gave her a couple of scrapbooks I had laying around extra that I had gotten at thrift stores at some point and never did anything with them except store the see-through picture pockets sheets in. Gave those to her, too, since I don't really use them! She was thrilled she didn't have to buy them! And when we got back we went to my she shed and I loaded her up with some more stuff.....smash books and accessories, journals, pocket cards, yada, yada, yada! Also gave her some gelatos to take to work for her daycare kiddos to use. Helped both of us out!

We got up around 8 and I fixed bacon (use parchment paper @faerywings when you cook the bacon in the oven), scrambled eggs, milk gravy and biscuits. Then we sat out on the deck to eat it. It was so nice with low humidity and upper 60's!

Right now I'm washing laundry so I can start packing for our trip on Monday. Other than that, not much else planned. Getting ready to do our devotions. We are going to order Domino's later.

Have a great afternoon.

Totally cute kiddy bracelets, Rae!

We had a good turnout for trail work this morning and were done in just under two hours. Not really hot, but the humidity always seems worse under the trees and next to the creek. I was starting to get that dehydrated feeling again so I let someone else walk the lawn mower up the hill at the end. That's never happened to me before and now twice in the last few weeks. I am definitely getting older. It didn't take me long once I got home to feel much better.

Thursday evening we went out to a local winery for the music and food truck. The band played British Invasion covers. They weren't all that great musically but it was a lot of fun. And a perfect sunset over the Blue Ridge. I love summer when it's not trying to broil me.

I have to give a presentation at the county advisory committee Wednesday evening so I should be thinking about that instead of whatever else my grasshopper brain would rather I do. Sigh.

I always breath a sigh of relieve once she calls
Oh yeah, the universal truth of motherhood. Remember back in the day when long distance was expensive; I was obligated to call home, let it ring twice, then hang up?

I have been working on the kids line of bracelets and its been so much fun.
So cute. The kids will have a ball trying them on.

:sleeping1:
Good morning
So tired
Is it bed time yet?
:sleeping2:
We camped out and it was a fun time but oh man I hurt. Kids were in tents and we slept on air mattress in back of van. The mattress lost its air, my head was as at odd incline cause the only air left was under the pillow! Windows were too light and oh man do I feel old today! Back is killing me, neck hurts. My eyes wont stay tuned in LOL Got some fun photos had a good time, ate way to much. But for sure we were the old farts and in "bed" by 10:30 while everyone else was up till about 1:00a.

Three cups of coffee and on the down side of the caffeine buzz. Might be in bed by 6 tonight LOL

I can remember having to call my parents as a collect call to myself, they wouldn't accept it but would know I'd safely arrived at my destination!

Good morning!
It is Sunday, a day of rest and relaxation. Right?? Not quite, but this afternoon... maybe a little...

Yesterday got 100% out of my hands. I managed to get a short Yoga session in before I went to the FP, plus I did all of the dishes that were left in the sink from the night before. FP was busy and it took me a long time to get back home. But you know what? It was all good, the weather was just perfect, and I chatted with a few of the other people who were waiting in line. One of the moms had me LMBO, her 2 yo DD was a runner and a climber. She reminded me of Caitlyn when she was that age. She took off in the parking lot, so I stepped in front of her to engage her, slow her down. Not a chance. That girl swerved around me so fast! I had to grab her hand to make sure she didn't get close to any of the cars. I apologized to the mom, but she just laughed. Apparently, this wasn't the first time the DD ran off from her. ;)

I popped over to my friend's for a quick visit. She has her move-out date all set. Aug 20. :( The neighbors are getting together next door for dinner tomorrow night.
I ended up doing Week 2 of the AJ challenge, and while I am still struggling with the concept of "Purpose," I'm thinking that maybe that struggle is all part of it.
The next thing I knew, I had to start dinner, Scott came over on his break, and I still had to get in the shower.
Where, oh where did my little day go?

Today is my big Forest Bathing Debut!
And think of it-- you won't have to hear me say how nervous I am for this first time leading it. (OTOH, you will have to hear me say how nervous I am leading it the second, third, fourth.... :rotfl: )

I have to remind myself, what is the worst that can happen? I forget what I am saying? Misidentify a tree? Lauren will be able to step in if I mess up. People who sign up for forest bathing are pretty chill to begin with. I am honestly not that anxious. Right now at least. Talk to me in another hour. :thud: LOL

What plans do you have on tap for today?
Whatever they are, have a great time doing it!

May end up making it a PJ day and staying in all day due to the hot, hot, hot temps and smoke haze! UGH!!!
That makes sense to me! Is that what you did?

Not the dogs interrupting you this time? :p
The kids' bracelets are adorable! I bet they are so much fun to make.
Another day has gotten away from me.
Uh-huh. I hear ya!

fixed bacon (use parchment paper @faerywings when you cook the bacon in the oven),
That is another great idea! I usually use the silicone mats, but they can be difficult to wash if something is very greasy.
Good luck with your laundry and all of your packing.

Glad to hear that you had lots of helping hands. Not so glad to hear that you were feeling dehydrated again.
Butting my nose in-- but do you take electrolytes? I saw my coworker on Friday, who was in the ICU a couple of weeks ago and she gave me a quick rundown on what happened. She was very dehydrated and something happened with the tubes that go to her kidneys. Some sort of body chemistry stuff got messed up. Anyway, the kidneys were holding on to fluids but were flushing out all of the potassium and electrolytes, which caused all of the muscle paralysis. The doctors were telling her that she needs to not only drink water but to take electrolytes to keep everything balanced. I remembered in one of the hiking courses I took, they went over all of the different brands -- the one I tried tasted really good- it was an orange chewy thing.
Anyway-- just something to keep in mind if that happens again.

I have to give a presentation at the county advisory committee Wednesday evening so I should be thinking about that instead of whatever else my grasshopper brain would rather I do. Sigh.
Oh, how I can relate to that! :giggle4:

Good morning

We camped out and it was a fun time but oh man I hurt
At least you had fun while you were awake??
I give you so much credit for doing that. Last summer at work, they were talking about how fun it would be to have a Weis staff campout on the property and were trying to convince to to join them. No way, my camping days are over hahahah!!
I hope that you slept well last night and that you aren't in any pain today.
Love your new siggie, old woman! :floorlaugh::hug4:
Me too-- you need a pink lure in the eagle's mouth though LOL!
I can remember having to call my parents as a collect call to myself, they wouldn't accept it but would know I'd safely arrived at my destination!
Me too!

HAGD, xoxoxo

@Terri M Your OBX story is so funny...I love the Outer Banks maybe not so much not the bridge. Wow a near dehydration even again...glad you got help this time so you could recover quickly.

@faerywings the good thing about a habitat is that you can keep a close eye on them and then when they are ready you can let them climb on your hand to release them...it's thrilling to do. Everyone loves to do it so your kids would really love it I'm sure.
I'm glad your day worked out ok but not as planned.

@AK_Tracy Gee bad weather I sure hope your "weather liars" are wrong. It's so depressing to have so many days of rain. I give you so much credit for tent camping...we did it when young but wouldn't even consider it now. I love my memory foam bed in the trailer. I'm glad you had fun though..making memories with new adventures. I guess you didn't know that 9:00 is the new midnight!!! LOL

Well yesterday was the big party for Reed's 10 birthday:partyhorn:. Jay and I made a quick trip into town to turn in my old phone, got to love the new one with 46 megapixel photos. We started the blowers to the bounce house and super slide so Reed was in them from 10 with a friend he was not allowed to put the water on the slide till 12 -they have a well but then they really had fun. When guest arrive at 1 it was full on fun in the big slide. The kids had a blast on the big slide I was in charge of making sure they went down feet first so I sat there all day. Most kids left by 6 then the big kids got on the slide....our son is the biggest kid ever....he had so much fun, it was good to see him relaxed. There we over 50 people here so it was wild. 3 platters of sandwiches and wraps went then 3 pizza's. No cupcakes were left either. The theme was tropical so everyone got a lei. Sarah went over board with the decorations but the funniest was the palm tree Mike had her shave in his chest hair!!:hammock: The last guest left at 10 so we did a little pick up so there was nothing for the bears. So today is big clean up. Kirsten is coming over later so we can see her before we leave tomorrow.Lots of people came in the trailer to check it out so I need do sweep and mop but other than that we should have easy time packing up tomorrow.

Well I hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend

You will do great at work today! Go get em, Chris! ;)

Quick in and out before heading to church.
Got the laundry done yesterday and ready to begin the packing this afternoon.
Need to touch base with Mark's daughter about the hummingbird nectar and the bird feeders. Hopefully I'll have some time this evening to scrap some bike pages. Maybe only about 5 or 6 trips made this year with the weather being so stinking hot this year!
Have a great day and week in case I don't make it in here this week.

Morning, all. Going to be another HOT day... so staying inside again today. I did get dressed - in a Mumu - as it is the coolest thing I have. ;) Will have to bite-the-bullet and go to the store no later than Tuesday....almost out of coffee and out of milk already.. plus need fresh fruits and veggies.

I decided to scrap the Art Journaling LOs this month... Have to admit that @faerywings LOs stirred the creative juices (fantastic LOs). And the great inspiriting quotes that @pachimac listed had me off and running. Plus I found the divided template that Ona made so it means I will be doing 2 LOs each week. :wow2: To be honest... being alone again means I have more time to scrap.

I saw a couple of you were talking about how they cook bacon in the oven. I cook bacon in the microwave... have a round microwave-safe pan with ridges that I use. Cover the slices with paper towel. Only take 2-3 minutes to make it crispy the way I like it. And the pan cleans up easily in the dishwasher... plus no heat from the oven...

Quick Howdy before the dogs demand breakfast! Its not raining but the wind has decided to visit!

I ended up doing Week 2 of the AJ challenge, and while I am still struggling with the concept of "Purpose," I'm thinking that maybe that struggle is all part of it.
I'm in the struggle boat too. I think I keep going back to focus not purpose and all I can think is I dont want to "re-do" the layouts I already did. My heart isn't in it yet. Will keep pondering and thinking but my this month is extra hard for some reason.
I hope that you slept well last night and that you aren't in any pain today.
I slept amazing last night!! However the pain is still here, back and hips. But its better then before.
It's so depressing to have so many days of rain. I give you so much credit for tent camping...we did it when young but wouldn't even consider it now. I love my memory foam bed in the trailer. I
We were super lucky. It didn't rain while we were there. The kids (5 of them) all played in the lake and some of the adults. Was cool, 50's and maxed at 60 but fires helped. They had the most amazing fire pit and it was huge so we sat around that most of the time. I do love my temprupedic bed and need to think about a pad for the car when we camp next. It would have been okay had the air mattress not deflated. The funny part was my side went totally flat while hubs was slightly inflated so he still had a bit of cushion. SO unfair :giggle4:
There we over 50 people here so it was wild.
That's a crazy huge party!! Sounds like a blast thought and what a celebration for a tenth birthday!!!

Okay, dogs are telling me my time is up and the coffee is screaming for me to drink more ;)

Have a wonderful day!
