hello! How are you today? Me-- I am mumbling to myself about how crazy it is that we are zooming through May-- we are already mid-month! How is that possible???
It sure doesn't feel like it is May either, we have been having allll of the April Showers the last 2 weeks. Doesn't Mother Nature know it is supposed to rain nonstop in April? It should be May Flowers this time of year. :giggle4: Everything is very green and hopefully my flowers will get rolling now that they are getting a little more sun as the leaves are cleaned up.
Thankfully, most of the rain stayed very light and drizzly during the HS session. It didn't really pick up until the last half hour. The kids didn't mind running around in the misty rain so we had a fun session. They thought the seed dissection was cool and seemed to enjoy ripping apart the flowers to look for the pistil and stamens.

Caitlyn and Tom cooked dinner and invited us upstairs to their living room to eat. It was the first time we did that. Their LR/office space had been the staging ground for wedding stuff and then holiday stuff, then a catch-all. They worked hard the last month to get it cleaned and sorted, and it is a LR/DR/office again. Scott came for dinner last night too so it was extra special.

I start back cleaning this week too- I am off to my one friend's house this week, the other one next week and hope that it all works out well. I have to be super careful at this house after I wash the floors. The downstairs is all stone tile and I skid if I am not paying attention when I walk on it when it's wet.
When I get back home, I have to make sure I rest my foot because I have a class/hike on Saturday and a forest bathing hike on Sunday. The class is Maps and & Compass which for my numbers-addled brain, might be a little difficult. Everyone who has taken it says it is a really fun class so maybe it won't be too complicated.

Better get going, I need to be ready to go by 8.30 and I have my own housework to deal with before I leave.

Have a fab day!! xo

I had some great news yesterday. I will start working again on Thursday! Only odd days here and there, but I'm back in the game! I went to the library yesterday, after the mammogram, mainly to wait for Urban to finish and go with him home, instead of taking the bus. Talked to the boss, and got my own keys. It feels real now.
YEAH, baby!!!!! I know how much you enjoy this and it will feel amazing getting out of the house *and* getting a paycheck!!
It will be so awesome to have work mates again, and a sense of belonging again.
As much as I grumble about hating people, having awesome coworkers and that sense of belonging is so important. I am really happy for you!
Enjoy Eurovision!
Had a nice surprise yesterday evening... DD#3's son and 4 year old grandson came over to have supper with us. We had a pizza party with them and the DDs. Shortly after they left, we called it an early night as the girls were worn out. Woke up early this morning. Girls are still sleeping. Will be another busy day for them at (DD#1's) son's house. DD#3 will be heading home this afternoon. Will miss having her here in the evenings. DD#1 will be heading home on Friday as her granddaughter will be graduating from middle school to high school this weekend and she wants to be there for that event.
How fun!!! Congrats to DD#1's G-DD!
Sheesh, that is quite the jump in temperature. Yesterday here is was that cool but humid type of day, sweating then freezing, jacket on, jacket off. I know 90s is *hot* but I wish NJ would make up its mind what temps it wants to be. ;)
One of the HS kids was jumping all around when she saw me-- Chris!! Chris!!! Chirs!! No boot!! :rotfl:

@Terri M How did your brisket turn out? Smart to cook it now, next week it might be way too hot.
I am so cautious with ticks. All of my gear, boots, hat, and jacket are treated with Permethrin. Spray tick every time I walk out the door. We have cans by the front door, on the front steps, and by the back steps. Ticks are naturally attracted to Gary (There is research that shows some people have certain pheromones that attract them). He found a tick on him last week-- underneath his glucose monitoring sensor. Which is medical-taped to his skin. How in the world did that thing get under the tape and then under the sensor? There must have been the tiniest of gaps in the tape. Needless to say, the LLMD is running tests for all Lyme variants and tick-borne co-infections.
I'm booked into 6 craft fairs now this year so maybe 1-2 more Xmas ones and then I'll take a break until next spring. It's been a fantastic creative outlet. I think I needed to step back a bit from scrapping after all these years and I think when things settle down in the fall/winter I'll come back to it with renewed vigor. I'm still scrapping a bit but not much right now. No time.
That is amazing!!! I hope that you sell sooo much of your gorgeous jewelry. I am sad that you will need to step back from scrapping. But if you aren't missing it, and you love what you are doing instead, it makes sense.

@taxed4ever That sounds awful-- a 1-2 punch of allergies and the vaccine. Hope you are much better today and that the supplement works for you.

I'm glad to have today's devotional done with too. I have all summer to prepare for the fall and winter devotionals for the widows' meetings which will begin again in October.
Oh, that is nice that you will have a break over the summer.
Now that I have the summer to work on my devos for the fall, I think I will catch up on some scrapping work, especially the monthly reviews. And I'm way behind on the daily ATCs!
What a great rest of your day. Hope you had a lot of creativity flowing.

@faerywings---oh be careful on the wet floors... a re-injury would be horrible. I hope your weather is better for you. No more meds...life is good for you now. yipee How nice to have dinner with the family so happy for you.

We had a good ride to our first campsite. After all the rain we were expecting a soggy site but it is firm and not sand. We set up and I made a nice chicken/pasta dinner then in bed by 9:30 I was exhausted from getting ready to leave. Yesterday we toured the Kanapaka Botanical Gardens so nice I put my new camera to the test....I'm happy- pics on FB. Then lunch out. Today is going to be even hotter than yesterday so we will look for the wild horses and buffalo here at Paynes Prairie then come back to read in the shade at the campsite. Or a day in Micanopy....original quaint town. So many choices. Going to be 90 today I'm so glad we are in the shade of some huge trees, A/C in trailer but I like it better outside.

I hope everyone is doing well

@tanteva Yippe Congrats on the new job I'm happy for you.

@taxed4ever ugh pollen allergies I hope it eases up soon. Yup covid shots always bother me too, hubby is fine, not fair.

I'm not sure if I saw the movie, but it came out in 1969, If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium. It's the way I felt about last week LOL. We had gorgeous weather all week; 70's and 80's , honestly I don't even remember if I gt into chat. - Blood tests at 10:45 Monday morning, baseball Monday, track Tuesday, baseball Wednesday, televideo conference with pre op nurses Thursday afternoon followed by pre surgery physical with GP. I got home about 2:30 and was going to change into comfy clothes when Wendell said, "Should we go to Home Depot and look at plants?" That's Wendell speak for, "don't change, we're going to Home Depot to buy plants." He's really on a mission to have the garden done before I have surgery. We've never planted pots this early so I'm crossing my fingers Minnesota behaves itself, scary planting before Memorial Day around here. We spent at least an hour and a half pulling 2 of those big flat carts around, at one point a couple started shopping the mandevillas intended for our deck pots & trellises off our cart- we saw them later with 2 of their own & they laughed and said they still liked ours better. We found everything we needed except for the small pots and water plants for in front of the skimmer, but they don't carry water plants there. We stopped at a nursery on the way home for the water plants and got 4 Society Garlic plants, they have tall wispy spikes of dainty purple flowers, very pretty and they smell exactly like the name implies, 15 miles closed up in a car with fresh garlic. When we got home we unloaded the car, "planted" the hanging pots and I watered everything before we went in & crashed and burned. Next morning I barely had time to eat my breakfast when the :whip3: It was 7:30 and we were out in the yard, I started planting and Wendell started cleaning up the hydrangeas and other shrubs. That's when the chickens and squirrels started running in front of me and around me, that rose bush is overgrown, it needs to be pruned, there's a weed, oh those don't belong there, no we need to cut more off, plant pots, dig hole, dump pot put in hole, rinse repeat, oh clematis need seat belts, pond needs to run, is the way it went until 3:30. OMG, I looked like a shepherd's hook , but everything was planted except for the small pots I couldn't find plants I wanted for them. Bleacher butt Saturday started at 8 AM , we left at noon to go back for Christian's baseball game. Sunday we were back at VB at 9, but we were done at 12:30 so we got groceries , stopped at the nursery to drop off our empty pots for recycling and I found the last 8 plants I needed so when we got home I planted the last 8 pots. This week we've had a band concert, and a baseball game.already with more to come. Christian pitched for the first time, only one inning, I don't think I could have survived any more, not sure I breathed. Hope to get some scrapping done today.

Sorry the personals I had are all a week old. I'll try to do better this week. I need coffee. Have a great day everyone.

I didn't get to the creativity yesterday. I was bushed and just relaxed in my recliner the rest of the evening.

Good morning,
Up at 7 today. Got at the track by 7:40 and got 2 miles in by 8:20. 20 minute mile...not bad.
Cloudy again today. Lots of rain yesterday. That's why I went to the track early. I figured it would rain before I finished!
I suspect I'll be going to lunch with Mark later.
No plans except to scrap today.
Have a great day!

Morning, all. I dreamed the landline phone rang at 6:15AM... nope... was a dream but it woke me up!!! I checked my caller ID and no calls had come in. Crazy dream!! I got up as I was wide awake. Need to get DD#1 up in about 30 minutes. Another busy day for her.

I stripped my bed yesterday morning and DD#3 helped me rotate the mattress. AH.... so nice to crawl into a freshly made bed. I took the down comforter off and stored it away in its zipped bag. I had to turn the ceiling fan for awhile last evening as it was still in the high 70's at 10 PM!!! Thank goodness, it is much cooler now - 59*F and the temps should only be in the high 70's - low 80's for the next week. Not ready for hot summer heat yet!!

She is up... gotta run.

We had 4-5" of rain yesterday/last night so I was stressing about the trails. But I've been getting in reports this morning and so far all of the bridges are still there and only one tree, not too big, down. We have three little ones we put in last month that I haven't heard about, but I think they're far enough away from the main creek that they should be OK

The brisket turned out really well. First time I've done one. I was going to try the "genuine" Amazing Mrs Maisel recipe but that has a bunch of sugar so I made another. Brisket is not something I grew up with; Mom was a chuck roast woman.

Last night the smoke alarm sounded three LOUD honks then stopped. Woke me right up from deep sleep. With only half a brain, I was sure it was David's glucose alarm (he sometimes goes way too low in the middle of the night and my phone wakes me up if that happens). After he groused at me because I woke him up (how did he not hear that alarm?!) I realized it was much too loud to be my phone. So then I wandered the whole house making sure there was nothing on fire, eventually went back to bed. But what the heck that was about, I have no idea.

I am trying to make scrap pages with my pictures from the Skagit County Tulip Festival, which we attended last month, but I have so many and they're all gorgeous!. I really don't need like 80 pictures of tulips so I have to get tough and curate them, but it's hard.

He found a tick on him last week-- underneath his glucose monitoring sensor. Which is medical-taped to his skin. How in the world did that thing get under the tape and then under the sensor?
How in the world??? David wears one of those sensors and there's tape sealed all around it, yes. And since his only gets changed every 10 days, you'd never even find the tick in time. Sneaky beasts! I bought treated clothes from Insect Shield to wear on trail work days, and I spray everything else with permethrin, tuck my socks into my boots (quite a stylish look) and my shirt into my pants, but I still worry I'll miss one when I get home.
