Oscraps

Well, this is something new to me in PSE

Cherylndesigns

I'm in The Zone ~ The "O" Zone
CHEERY O
I've used PSE forever and now am using 2023. Somehow, I have managed to lock the layers (I think(). I'm not even sure what I've done, but when I try to move an element, it's like it's "hooked" to some other elements and two or three of them move together. I can't seem to "isolate" the element I want to move, if that makes sense. I don't have any of the layers locked, so it has to be something in my settings. I've googled it and still can't get it fixed. It's making me crazy. Anybody had this happen? What in the heck have I done? Any suggestions/help would be highly appreciated. :banghead::banghead:

Can you take a screenshot of the layers panel and your document space. You might have accidentally clicked the chain link which attaches layers together, but it will be easier to dowgnise if we can see what you do

I will definitely do that, Vicki. I have a feeling that I did "accidentally" change something. Thanks so much!!

I need to see the section that shows the actual layers — the right side of the screen. So please try again. But in meantime, selected all of the layers that seem to be attached to each other, and click the little chain link as you see in the image.

Vicki, I'm going to uninstall 2023 and upgrade to 2025. SO frustrated right now. Thanks so much!!!
You don’t need to do that Cheryl - and doing so won’t fix your file, if you’ve clicked on that chain link. Create another PSD add some layers and see if you have the same problem - or open an old one. If the problem is still there, some global setting got changed. If not, it’s just something in that PSD.

And you know that 2025 is a three year purchase and then it stops working, right?

Why don’t you zip up that PSD and send it to me — I’ll take a look in the morning.

I got it fixed, Vicki! Thanks so much - your help was all I needed to fix my problem. You helped me more than you know! I AM going to download 2025 though. Yes, I think 2023 is about ready to crash. :bowdown2:

@Cherylndesigns Hey my little hobbit, isn't it frustrating when things go wonky and you can't find out why!!?? lol!!! Send the PSD to Vicki like she asked, it would be something you have mistakenly clicked on for sure so need to be upgrading. And what?? Vicki mentioned that if you purchase 2025 it will stop working in 3 years??!!! :jawdrop3: how ridiculous is that!! I have my trusty PSE14 behind the scenes from way back when and it still works okay.

You know, the other day in Photoshop I was typing out some journaling text and it was all coming out in capitals........... no, didn't leave the CAPS on and I thought to myself that it had happened to me in PSE years ago. Even saw a thread about that for PSE in the forum the other day lol!! Anyways, I googled, read through stuff and THEN, spotted a youtube vid asking this simple question, did you accidently click on the bold option in the characters section for the fonts.......... um, ooops!!! :lalala: hahhahaaa! one click it was back to normal!! :)

It IS the MOST frustrating thing when something, all of a sudden, gets screwed up. I am going to upgrade to 2025 and Vicki helped me and I got it temporarily fixed. She was awesome and I appreciate all of her help. When she posted that black box, I got on Google and YouTube and got it figured out. IKR, why is it that the old PSE's worked forever, but the newer ones only last a few years?????

I wish I could use PSCC, I have it, but the print is SO tiny and my eyes aren't the greatest. Do you know if there's any way to make all of the print (the tool bars) any bigger? I have googled that too. That print is so teeny tiny and it gives me terrible eye strain. I would LOVE to be able to use that.

In PSCC, in each little "panel", like the Layers panel for instance, there are settings you can change. Hang on, will get some pics for you. :)

As I mentioned above, each little panel in PSCC has the option of changing the text/pics to a larger size, like for instance the Layers panel shown below:

It also depends on how big your screen is, I have a large screen but would rather my layout take up the space rather than the panels themselves. But you could just try it out, maybe get a trial version.

You can also change the text size for the User Interface as well (UI), I have mine on Tiny but again, because I have a big screen its okay for me. I just changed mine to Large but not happy with the way it looked, it could be I should have clicked on that little box underneath as well to scale it properly. Preferences is under the Edit menu btw. Anyway, if you end up getting a trial version let me know and I can go through the settings with you properly to try it all out. :)

Oh my goodness, Gandalf, I CAN change the size of the font. That's awesome. I'd love to start using CC because I know there's so much more I could do on it. Thanks so much for the info and the pictures!!! :yourock::bowdown2:

Adobe has done a way with the "perpetual" license. So the only way to keep using 2025— or whatever they upgrade to during your 3 year license — is to buy another 3 year license. If you don't, PSE will just stop working. If you own an earlier version of PSE, that will still work, assuming the newer PSDs you created are backwards compatible. Sigh.

Vicky, I just bought 2025 and I saw that it only has a 3-year license. Thanks so much for all of your help!!
Yes, that's what I was saying in my posts above. So be sure to keep any earlier versions that you own outright — just in case you decide not to renew the three year license.
