The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Good morning! The sun is shining here in NJ and we might get near 60* That is really exciting after the last three days of rain and foggy weather. :dance2:

How was everyone's Monday? I had a decent day. I got everything on my To-Do list done. I forgot how awesome it feels to cross things off even when they are small, like giving the dogs their heartworm/tick preventative. The pills had been on the kitchen counter for three days and I couldn't be bothered to get them prepared. J will take them as a treat but W will spit hers out unless it is fully coated with peanut butter. Everything is a process with that one. :D

I wrote up my first two Spring session lessons, which made me feel like I accomplished something worthwhile too. Chair yoga: Check! Scrapped a LO for a new kit: Check! Worked on the faery house: Check!! Both sides are almost done. I want to make sure all of the items are glued in as best as they can be before I close it up and add the" book cover."

Plans for today: I think I should call the doctor. I might have messed up with my foot. When I woke up this morning, it was very achy and I started to wonder if I should be sleeping in the boot. When I had the boot after my ankle surgery and Achilles tendonitis, I didn't and I guess I assumed (oops) the same for this. I looked over my paperwork and it's vague. Google searches show both wear it 24/7 and no need to sleep in it. So I don't know what I am supposed to do. If I messed it up worse...

:bawling:

No plans today other than my to-list scribbles.

XOXOXO!

@faerywings fingers crossed that your foot is ok...That would be horrible if you messed it up. I would say the weather might make it hurt but your weather is getting better. :ignore1:Keep off it is probably on the list of instructions. I'm glad you had a good day yesterday cause you sure needed one.

@AK_Tracy I'm so glad you are recovering so pretty soon you won't have to wear those compression leggings!!! they are quite the fashion statement-LOL I hope you enjoyed that corned beef dinner--yum.

@BrightEyes - so glad you were able to save onto your EHD, it's a good feeling i'm sure. I have been cleaning out my phone and that is a good feeling. Your trouble is reminding me to do a back up somehow maintenance doesn't always fit in my schedule.

I released 5 monarchs yesterday. I helped in the kitchen at the club last night for the St Patricks Day social. We made 9 corned beefs and actually had some leftover. 50 meals served, by 8 I was ready to come home to rest my back, that was 6 hours of work. Everyone loved it so it was worth it but today is going to be a slow day-I hope. Dear friend is coming over so I can try to rescue her orchids which are in horrible shape. I need to make sugar water for the hummingbirds. I started a book yesterday so I may do some reading later since its going to be mid 70's--- reading out on the patio might happen.

Plans for today:
1. Get into a better mood.
2. Keep trying to achieve #1.
This did work, but today I am feelin' a little Sisyphus-y
back at it, Faery :whip4:

@BrightEyes The fire must have been terrifying to see, especially since the area has been so dry. My street has had way too many house fires on it so I understand the stress that must have caused. I hope that the fire was contained quickly and no one was hurt.
The shrimp and asparagus sounds delicious!
:jawdrop3: The rainbow photo is stunning and I see why you spent the time to scrap it!

@vickyday So sorry to hear about the poor night's sleep *and* the car. Did you sleep better last night?
If I counted correctly, I made 28 meals out of the beef, pork and chicken I bought at COSTCO. And with the purchase of other ingredients (things I don't normally buy....like ginger paste) to go into the freezer bags, the cost per meal averages out to be less than $7! And they will take minimal effort to finish preparing!
What????? :claphands: That is amazing!!! You are going to be so happy just pulling stuff out of the freezer and saving $ at the same time.

@AK_Tracy I have corned beef in the fridge but I am waiting until Scott and Sam come for dinner since Gary's is the only one that will eat it. here. I used to make a "once a year" exception for eating beef but I hadn't even had corned beef in 5 or 6 years. At this point, I am pretty sure I can't digest beef at all. The last time I had a burger was at a BBQ ~10 years ago and it smelled so yummy. But I regretted eating it for the next 24 hours, my stomach hurt so much.

I never thought about slicing and freezing onions. Once I am back on my feet, I am going to start that. What other veggies can you prep and freeze?

It must be a full-body workout just getting dressed!

Good Monday Morning everyone! It is a sunny but chilly morning here. Fresh snow again on the mountain tops and a bit of low lying fog around the lake, so very pretty!! We had a good time taking the In-Laws around the building that my DH works at, it was a very quiet Sunday so not many people in the building. We brought up our DD's scooter from the crawl space and took it for MIL to use so she wouldn't have to walk the whole building. (It is a huge property!). She was very thankful for it and we had a few laughs with her while she got her driving skills down pat with the scooter. She did very well and didn't run over anyone :giggle4:
what a nice treat to take your ILs to work.
How many lunches left?
the Weis Director told me that if I needed to use the UTV at work when I go back, I can. But I think I'd be like your MIL and not be able to drive it at first. The last thing I'd want to do is run over the kids!
The winery looks beautiful and I am sure you will have a lovely time! What are you going to wear?
Well that is about it. I went to the backyard today to put the last of the bromilaids off the lawn so the when the lawn guys get here they wouldn't be in the way. I did housecleaning, lunch and cleanup. I need to help some ladies make the corned beef dinner at the club so I am leaving soon. 40 dinners so it will be a big day at the kitchen.
You are 100% non-stop!
Hope the dinner was a huge success.

Kay- Whew, Glad you found the folder! I've moved folders accidentally before and it sure scares the bejeezus out of me. I often wish there was an Undo option in ACDsee for that reason.

:hug4:

I have just a few minutes before we go out for an appointment with our money guy. I am freaking out over the state of the world and worrying about both us and my mom. I need someone to talk me down!

We went up into the Alleghenies on Saturday for a Maple Festival. It was fun, but not something I need again. Incredibly long lines at the places selling maple donuts everywhere. We went to a couple "sugar camps" and saw them collecting sap and making syrup. One place makes a delicious black walnut syrup but it was crazy expensive so I can live without it. I bought a smoked maple syrup which I think would be great as part of a glaze on a pork roast..

I finished 2 challenge layouts yesterday, so I have my six done for the month before I leave for Florida to help mom with the closing on selling her condo, and arranging the money in the bank so it will work for her. I have a cold, and the plane is full, so I hope I can find enough good medicine not to spread it to everyone else. I always wear a mask on the plane these days, so I should be OK. Hoping it's mostly over by Thursday so I don't bring it to mom!

Gotta go -- another busy day ahead. Have a great day!

Morning everyone! Another gloriously sunny morning, but cloudy conditions are forecasted for the afternoon and of course pouring rain for tomorrow (hike day). It is very chilly only 1C/33F. I have not seen any hummingbirds at my feeder for quite sometime so today will be a good day to bring it in and clean it and refill. I think that maybe it is mating season and they are busy making nests and laying eggs?? Or they have gotten smart and went somewhere a bit warmer for awhile. I am making aspargus stuffed chicken and cauliflower cheesy mash for supper tonight along with a 7 layer salad and keto ice cream for desert. I have to run to the store for a couple of items, but will spend the afternoon prepping supper and getting ready for our guests tonight. They probably will not stay too late as the highway back to where they live is filled with elk, deer and other things that pop out at dusk. So it might be a bit of an early supper for us. I did get a page done for the border challenge and will get that posted to the gallery this morning.

I wrote up my first two Spring session lessons, which made me feel like I accomplished something worthwhile too. Chair yoga: Check! Scrapped a LO for a new kit: Check! Well it sounds like you had a very productive day with your Spring session prep!! Hooray for getting some scrapping in too! I can't wait to see the finished faery house!! Yes you should probably have a chat with your doctor today, hopefully you have been doing the right thing by not wearing the boot to bed. It would be awful if you ended up having to wear that darn boot for even longer!! Not sure what to wear to the retirement party so I might have to go shopping for something new :giggle4:. Only 7 more lunches to make I think. I will have to look at the calendar.

How lovely to release the monarchs, hope that they have a good life out there in the big world! That was a lot of corned beef you made! Nice that there was left overs. Rest your poor back today on the patio in the warm sunshine, it sounds divine!!

I think that you and the rest of the world are worrying about the state of the world! Hope you are over your cold so you don't take it to your mother!

@AK_Tracy what a great idea to slice and freeze the onions I gotta try that for sure. Can you do that with peppers?? Or do they turn mushy when you freeze them??

Ok I am going to fill my coffee cup and wait for my DD to face time for a chat this morning. Have a lovely Tuesday everyone! :waving1

Good Morning.

We made 9 corned beefs and actually had some leftover. 50 meals served
WOW!!! We made two for the five of us and there wasn't NOTHING left but some cabbage! Makes me wonder how big your corned beef were or how little you all eat :giggle4: But then again, four males in the house they eat meat like crazy. Not that I dont too but whew it went fast.
I never thought about slicing and freezing onions. Once I am back on my feet, I am going to start that. What other veggies can you prep and freeze?

what a great idea to slice and freeze the onions I gotta try that for sure. Can you do that with peppers?? Or do they turn mushy when you freeze them??

So I chop and freeze all kinds of things that I dont need "firm" when cooking. So yes, peppers if they'll be in soups and roasts where I dont care if they're a bit mushy. They're not good for salad. Stir fry, eggs, casseroles, yes. I also do:
celery
spinach
onions
peppers
mushrooms (hubs dehydrates first for some reason)
cheese
I freeze my ginger root and then just zest it into recipes. I dont peel it.
Radishes

We've accidentally frozen eggs. Not amazing and not helpful. But if you run out of fridge space it works. Just a pain to thaw. Mostly it was trial and error on what froze well and how you would use it after. The only things we have to "thaw" first is cheese needs to be half thawed so it separates and the mushrooms have to be hydrated again. Otherwise its grab and throw.

Yesterday was a day of being out and about and while I mostly sat in the car, it was a lot after sitting for almost three weeks. My ankles were a bit swollen. I'm a little concerned for how tomorrow will go with cooking at church but I will have extra help. And I will sit some. I do have permission from the Doc to wear compression pants and not the thigh high. But the pants aren't as "tight" and aren't over the ankle. So for now if I can do thigh high its better but tomorrow will be pants as I dont have time to constantly be pulling up the thigh high.

Time for more coffee. Hope you have a wonderful day today!!!!

Morning, all...
@BrightEyes The fire must have been terrifying to see, especially since the area has been so dry. My street has had way too many house fires on it so I understand the stress that must have caused. I hope that the fire was contained quickly and no one was hurt.

As an update - I called my neighbor who lives next door to where the fire was night before last. Turns out they slept right through it all and had no idea that anything happened. As I said... I never saw any fire but the firemen were going to the back yard. As our city mandates no more than 20% grass areas... most don't have any grass - so not sure what could have been burning. My thought was it might have been a propane tank or something similar in the backyard.
Thanks for the comment on the Rainbow photo... I had been meaning to splice the photos together for awhile. Putting the 2 photos together took longer than the rest of the LO!!! :floorlaugh:

Yes, I was so relieved to find and save the folder (that had 110 files in it!!!). The problem with moving the files into the ExHD right away is remembering which folder/file that the 'new' LOs are in when it is time to upload them to digi-land. OH... need to copy the new Challenge #4- LO into the ExHD!!! I used the file in my Scrapping Folder on the computer to make it!!! [DONE] Whew!!
Will take me awhile to get used to the new routine!!!

Going to be hunkered down inside today... high winds coming around noon... 50+mph today! Been getting weather/wind alerts this morning.

@faerywings - sure hope that sleeping without the boot didn't damage anything. Yes, do call your doctor and check on that.

@AK_Tracy I also chop and freeze some of the same veggies you do. Freezing egg??? :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: Never done that!

Freezing egg??? :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: Never done that!
Well, it was an accident. Kids were throwing all kinds of groceries (Costco run) into the freezer and somehow they put the eggs in there as well. We just put them in a bowl to thaw over night and then use them as scrambled or in a recipe. Seems to be fine. We dont do it normal but if it happens, its not a total loss and we dont have to throw them out. Back in the 90's my kids did it with the 5 dozen egg box. I freaked! Didn't know it would be okay and threw them out. Good thing they were cheap back then LOL

Well, my cell phone emergency alert went off twice within an hour... High wind warning ... then highways closed due to dust storm and high winds. I-40, I-25, I-10 and several US highways in NM are closed in places. Hit a peak of 69 MPH gust just after the first alert!!! Yikes - that is hurricane force wind!!! Still blowing like mad but now down to 35mph steady with gusts to 55mph. Lots of power outages all over town. My neighborhood has power... so far! And would you believe it will drop to 25*F early tomorrow!! Back to winter like weather but may make it to 50*F during the day.

Oh, forgot to mention that a nephew (the brother of the niece who came to see me last month) had to have emergency heart surgery today. There was a large bubble formed in a vein near his heart. Just got word that he came through the surgery.

I slept like a baby last night. Barely knew when Mark left for work this morning!
I used one of the frozen meals tonight and Ilene stayed for supper. We continued to play while the meal cooked! Wonderful!

Good evening,
Spent the day with Ilene. She came this morning and we drove to make the church bank deposit, then went to breakfast. After breakfast we stopped at the store for tea and bread. Then went to check the church mailbox. Then went to Ilene's house so she could take her morning pills she forgot to take before coming to the house. Then back to our house to play.

I had taken one of my freezer meals out to thaw today. One that had enough to feed Ilene, too.

After she went home I cleaned up the kitchen and Mark and I did our nightly devotions and now we are watching TV. Getting ready to see if my sister wants to play online Rummikub.

Have a great evening!
