HellllllOOOOO and happy weekend!! How are my lOves doing today?
I am good, I slept like a rock last night. No surprise, I worked my butt off yesterday. Fitbit said I clocked just under 17K steps/7 miles. And that was done carrying three bags of supplies through snow and ice. (Uphill both ways too :D) But did the kids have fun? 100%!
The temp of 38* at 7 am was unfortunately the high point. It dropped to 30-32* the rest of the day and oooh boy the winds kicked in. Thankfully we had enough areas of snow to do most of the lessons.
We started the morning with learning the different walking patterns of the animals and had the kids see if they could attempt them. That was hysterical! One of the oldest girls in the group took it very seriously and kept trying until she got it. The Bounders and Hoppers are tricky but she nailed it! We walked around looking at the different tracks in the snow and found a great spot to make the molds. The deer prints were perfect. After lunch. we did some snowman building and games and then went to collect the hardened tracks The kids were thrilled. We found a few deer tracks with the dew claws visible and tried to get that included. It was messy -- very messy- but I think they'll remember this.

Tomorrow's maple sugaring program got canceled. We are supposed to be getting 7" of snow and ice overnight and into tomorrow morning. The program was scheduled to start at 10.30 so it made sense. Instead of cramming for the public program today, I am going to rewrite that plan into one for the next HS field trip. That's on the 24th and Lauren expects it to be a big one with attendance. Since we have a lot of little ones (4-5 yo) I want to make it accessible and understandable-- and fun-- for them.
That might be a good day to do a campfire. Maybe have lunch outside with s'mores. I like that. :D

Other than working on the field trip plans, my other goals are to clean my office-- it looks like an earthquake and then a tornado hit- and to try to scrap. Wish me luck that the computer gremlins are gone. :stupicpc::praying2:

HAGD!!

Not sure if I am up to running errands today.. the whole body is talking to me still. << sigh >> The Book and DVD sale at the library will also be on tomorrow... if I don't make it over there this morning. It only runs from 9 till 12 both days.
How did you feel yesterday? I hope you are back to your usual DVD/Book-shopping self! That's too bad that don't; let you bring a cart but it makes sense since it is so crowded.
I hope you had lots of scrap time yesterday too.
(Eeep-- I need to think about my AJ challenge for Feb!! Thank you for remending me about that!)

I have never had any luck with the cayenne pepper. The best thing I have had luck with in keeping the squirrels TOTALLY away from the feeders is a product from Wild Birds Unlimited. It is a bit pricey, but the birds love it, I love it, and the squirrels HATE it! I am a member, so I get 15% off. If you order $75 they ship free. I think the link is the store I use. There may be a store near you.
I will keep my eyes open for that! Scott reads a lot of the NJ Backyard birding subreddits and one of his coworkers is really big on birding. Next time I see Scott I'll ask him what he is having luck with too. TY!!! And of course, me being me LOL, I don't want the squirrels to be hungry either. And they are so cute! I feel bad when I yell at them :blushing1:
I hope you had a wonderful PJ-Scrap day!

I'm mad but I don't know who to be mad at. When we were in Florida, I ran over something big and hard on the interstate, that made a loud noise when it hit the bottom car. When I got home a couple days ago, the check engine light came on, with a message to see the dealer. So I did. Turns out whatever that was that I hit damaged part of the emissions system and and an axle, to the tune of $1500 to fix. Oof. Not happy. But there was really no way to safely avoid the big thing in the road, so I don't know what I could have done differently.
:rollingpin1: That stinks!! My boss and I were talking yesterday about cars and how expensive they are to fix. You want to ignore the noises but they only get more $$ to fix when you do.
I guess I'm paying for our nice time in Florida. I'm going to do nothing today but read a book and work on my photos. The laundry can keep and there are leftovers in the freezer.
Such a smart move!! I hope that the rest of your day was relaxing!

Good Morning!
Quick in and out today. Which makes me want a burger from In n Out. Not much happening here but laundry and picking up the house. @Terri M that sounds horrible. I too would be mad and yeah not sure who to be mad with. Glad the gas is off so you dont have to worry about the fireplace. @faerywings Christ still cant believe youre begging for snow. You know what's gonna happen right??? You'll get it soon and it will shut things down. Murphys Law. @BrightEyes Kay I hope your body feels good and youre able to go to the library sale. Running to get more coffee and then maybe start the first load of laundry. Dogs whining to get outside. Have a great day!
Mari said that NJ is getting a Parade of Storms this week so yup, that's the forecast. Every day other than the one I wanted it. Now that we did the snowmen-- I'm over it. No more snow for me. Not at all. I am back to shaking my fist at the sky and muttering under my breath how much I hate it.
Whew. It feels good to be back!! :floorlaugh:

We are having a real cold snap and it is -7C which is very cold for this part of the world! It is my Gary’s flex day off and we have a few things to do today, one of which is to get his truck out from under all that snow. That should be fun right??
I hope that cold snap is over soon. I don't know that F* temp that is but I know it's well below freezing.
Were you bundled up out on your errands?
I was too busy going crazy with my scrapping.
Woo hoo!! You got a page done!! I'm sorry it took you all day but I hope it was fun and not frustrating.
Stay warm!
Had fun last night, 18 of us went for dinner. Got home around 9:30 so Remi wasn't thrilled with me. Good thing I don't have much planned for the wkend, she needs some time with me.

@faerywings Would you feel better if I told you that your temps are warm compared to ours??? we're almost at mid day and it is still only at 7 which is warm compared to the last few wks. We Albertans are a hearty bunch LOL. We have to be!
Dinner must have been loud and lots of laughter! I know you are going to spoil the heck out of Remi today, not like she is going to give you a choice either LOL!!!
I wouldn't last a day in Alberta.

Hi everyone! I know I do not take part in this chatting much but I think Marilyn @MariJ pops in here at times. I wanted to share my latest Calendar page for 2026 which is in the gallery HERE
It's so wonderful to see you pop in! You--and everyone-- is welcome anytime/all of the time ♥
What a gorgeous calendar page! Is that some kind of polypore?

QOTD: Are Australian fungi as dangerous as AU spiders, insects, and snakes? Inquiring minds want to know! :giggle4:

Lately I have been doing a lot of caring for my neighbour who had a stint in hospital with suspected stroke but it wasn't - a nervous breakdown. She had a lot of stress happening in her life
I am sooo sorry for your friend. Many good thoughts to her. She is blessed to have someone like you caring for her.
I'm sad to hear that you and DH aren't working the craft store :( However, it sounds like your new group of crafters is a nice, less stressful replacement.

Hugs to you all!

Quick in and out... No, not up to running errands. Decided that I didn't need any more books or DVDs right now so am staying home and calling it a PJ day!!! :crying1: Ended up taking a shower :showering:in the late afternoon yesterday and put on PJs. Then made enchiladas (left-over sauce) for supper... and used the massager and read for about an hour. Then into bed early. After about an hour of reading, I realized I was too hot so changed into a lightweight long sleeve knit gown. Had a toss-and-turn night and woke up worn out!!! Guess I should call this a Gown/Robe Day instead of PJ Day... :floorlaugh:

@faerywings So glad that there was a bit of snow for the HS class. Yes, I saw the prediction of lots of snow in your area so happy the tree tapping got cancelled.

@A-M So delighted to see you popping in again. You have been missed.

DD#1 is calling... BBL

Morning everyone! Happy Saturday! We are in for a bit more snow today, but don't think it will be too much. Just popping in quickly to say hello :wavinghello: and then we are going to be busy with a few errands today. We never did go to the grocery store yesterday, so that is on today's agenda. We spent the afternoon digging out my Gary's Truck and clearing the street where it is parked. Whew that was a big job! I did get to the craft store and found some lovely papers and flowers to make Aunt Betty's 90 birthday card.I hope to work on that a bit today. DH is out of the shower and it will be my turn to get all cleaned up and ready for the day. I hope its a great one for all of you!

Good morning Ladies.
Its a quick morning. Not sure why. Just feels like I have to hurry up and wait :giggle4: I dont know what I did but my back hurts. Didn't sleep well. Hips hurt. I didn't do nearly what Chris @faerywings did, didn't walk almost 7 miles. But My body says we dreamt we did so we hurt. Didn't really dream it but for whatever reason, it hurts. Back is tight from stress. We have storage units in AZ that were just suppose to be for one year and its now been 13 years. We're trying to figure out all the details and what how when etc. and its stressing me out. Its 90% my dads stuff. I regret putting stuff in storage and will never do it again. Its too easy to ignore. Need more coffee. Have a wonderful day!

Good morning ladies. I get to stay home for most of the day, aside from walking Remi. The skies are blue, the sun is out and it's -10C (14F) so we'll enjoy getting out. I'm going to do laundry and housework but this afternoon will work on some jewelry design and scrap a bit. I started the Murderbot series. I'm reading All Systems Red and have loaded Artificial Condition to read next. Then I'll take a break before continuing the series (7 in the series). I'm waiting for The Grace Year to come back to me b/c I didn't finish it, hopefully in a few weeks.

@faerywings Sounds like the kids had a blast yesterday.

@taxed4ever Enjoy working on the card, wow...90! What a milestone that is.

@BrightEyes Enjoy your PJ day. I'm having a 1/2 day but then need to get dressed to get out with Remi. If I didn't have a dog I would it all day long.

I'm getting more coffee, checking emails and getting on with my day. BFN

Woke up to a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain but it should be melted very soon. So no shoveling, Yay! More snow predicted on Tuesday, maybe 2" maybe 8", depends on whose web page you look at. I think the news stations always over-predict because they like the hype. I don't trust them. There's one local guy who pretty much always refuses to do that, so I mostly look at him.

The last few days we've been making plans and reservations for an Alaska cruise to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2026. So far, there are 13 people coming -- family mostly, but maybe a couple friends, It's so exciting, but it's a year and a half away so it's also kind of anticlimactic. But my sister tells me you have to reserve early to get good rooms, and we only had to put down $99 per person as a refundable deposit, so, there you go. We've done this cruise three times already and loved it every time.

Dryer is beeping at me, so I'm off to fold laundry.

Hugs to you all!
Yes, I had a pretty good scrapping day. Got caught up on my ATCs before I had to get dressed to go and pick up the car from the shop. And then we went out to supper.

Good afternoon,
Mark is in the woods with the pastor and one of the other deacons in the church. They are target practicing. The deacon is a cop.

We took my daughter and family to Ruby Tuesday today for lunch since they did not get to go the Friday night of our gathering and it was already paid for since I got gift cards for the very purpose of treating everyone over our gathering. I look for the restaurant to close down because of the poor service you generally get due to lack of workers. Mark and I went there last night for supper but ended up leaving because we were going to be waiting about an hour as the kitchen got caught up on the orders. The restaurant was 2/3's empty at the tables, even though they had several people standing by, including us! As we walked out a man who had just arrived with his wife asked me why we were leaving. We told him the situation and we all said what a shame it is that you cannot get decent help at a place with really good food! That is another reason I wanted to be sure and use the $200 in gift cards we had.....before they end up closing the doors and I've lost out on the purchase of the gift cards.

This afternoon I am catching up on laundry. Mark had to work on changing a heating element yesterday. Then had to work on fixing the pop off valve or something because it was leaking water everywhere. So after eating lunch out I'm working on getting caught up.

We were able to pick the car up from the mechanic yesterday. We ran around last night and this morning with it and on the way back to the house after lunch the stinking engine light came back on again! OY VEY! When we picked the car up last night I asked the mechanic if he was about ready to bury the thing. He said, I'm about ready to buy it (I'm afraid of what that means price wise) and Mark retorted, "I'm about ready to sell it!" We all had a laugh!

Today is a cold 50* because it has been cloudy all day with a chance of rain. No rain yet, but it is sure going to miss a good chance if it doesn't!

Well, back to the laundry!
Have a good evening!

Wow I'm so late checking in today. Well yesterday's visit to my friend was very upsetting to me....she was a spunky cheerleader and very active. Her strokes from the aneurysm made her right side motionless and all she can say is "one". I put lotiion on her hands and arms so she liked that. I was very emotional when we left so hubby to me to lunch at a British pub, good food with interesting decorating.
Today Laundry, vacuum, mopped floors, yard work, cooked, made sun tea--yummy. Dear hubby went to the club to work in the office...peace and quiet. Talked to DD and Granddaughter for awhile. Spoke to my friends husband --same. Talked to my brother and got in touch with my sister who just had hip replacement...busy phone day. texted with SIL too.
28 monarch chrysalis and only a few eaters left so now it is just wait no more feeding them...what a relief.

I feel so bad for all of you getting the bad weather and we are having some wonderful weather.

@vickyday so sorry for your car trouble. I hope your mechanic finds the problem soon.

@faerywings sounds like you are busy so having your maple syrup day off is sorta good. I guess.

@Terri M sounds like a wonderful trip to Alaska, we have several friends who have gone and loved it. A cousin live in Anchorage for 20+years...DD, SIL and his brother and wife are going next year too.

@A-M good to see you here, sad about your friend. Now you are really retired and I am sure you will be busy all the time.

well that is it for me today.

A cousin live in Anchorage for 20+years...DD, SIL and his brother and wife are going next year too.
Please please please GET OUT OF Anchorage!!!!!! That is not Alaska. Please make sure they go places and see things. Take a train trip to Seward. Drive to Homer. Drive/train to Denali. Fairbanks, North Pole, Chena Hotsprings. Anything but staying in Anchorage. Its just another city. Go to Talkeetna and meet the Mayor (a cat). Okay, stepping down now......
:soapbox:
Just please tell them to get out of Anchorage to really see Alaska.:heartpumppink:

PS Sorry, Stubbs the Mayor of Talkeetna passed away. I forgot.

Good Saturday evening! It's 9 pm and I've been home about 2 hours. I finished keeping books for nine high school basketball games since 5 pm yesterday. It was great fun! Our boys team did very well and won their last game 46-42. Hubby had the fireplace running and was cooking dinner for me when I came home! He's a keeper for sure. I am now sitting on my favorite hot pad after taking a muscle relaxant. My back is screaming at me for sitting in a chair for so long. It's nothing new I have four bulged discs among several other problems. I see the pain doctor next month and cannot wait for the appointment. We are supposed to be getting more snow/ice about Wednesday of next week. Not looking forward to it as I'm on vacation Wednesday through Monday. Finishing off my evening watching my favorite homicide detective, Lt. Joe Kenda, find the bad guys. I hope everyone has a great rest of their weekend!

:furious: This is ~> :bs:

Snow and ice and cold and yuck!!
And OMG, it feels *wonderful* to be complaining about it! :rotfl:
I am grateful that we didn't get too much--5" maybe? I'm also grateful that I don't have to be tromping around in it at work, especially since we are now getting an ice glaze over it.
The next round of snow is on Thursday. *grumbles and mutters*

Did I get a lot done around here yesterday since I had a quiet day?
Whaddaya think?
:hahano:

I should clarify- I did get a lot of stuff done just not as much as I wanted/needed. I spent a lot of time staring out the window at my new bird friends and squirrel friends. The squirrels make me laugh even as I am yelling at them. Scott said that so far, he is having luck with the spicy seed mix he got aside from one squirrel who doesn't seem bothered by it at all. I did some research about using kitchen cayenne pepper on the seeds and I am not sure I feel comfortable/confident about it. Some websites said that it can irritate the birds' eyes. Others said that if you don't use enough, it won't deter the squirrels. Too much and it might bother the birds. I don't want to hurt any of them so once this bag is gone, I'll try the spicy kind.

I started the field trip plan for maple sugaring/winter tree ID and fire building. I hope Lauren likes it. I also researched info about eco-anxiety and solastalgia. The director mentioned these topics during the training session and as I dug into it, I needed to find out more. I mentioned to Lauren on Friday that I really want to help her with that aspect of the programs.

[I'm sure you are familiar with the term eco-anxiety but solastalgia was completely new to me. It is similar to eco-grief-- the sadness and depression that occurs when you lose something personal like a home due to a climate catastrophe, for ex the CA wildfires or Hurricane Helene. Solastalgia is the current feeling of loss and disconnection because of environmental changes happening in the present. Say you had a favorite lake where you spent all of your childhood summers and it is polluted or has dried up That feeling of loss is solastalgia. OTOH, if you see that same lake is threatened by climate changes, that is eco-anxiety-- things that might happen in the future. Thank you for coming to my TED talk :giggle4:}

Long story -- yup, still a long story-- there is a ton of research that kids and esp. adolescents are experiencing mental distress from everything such as COVID to climate. We at Weis want to help the kids find safe spaces and practice self-care since they are at risk. I am reading everything I can get my hands on.
That took up most of my day- so no chance to scrap/ I stayed to look for a kit to use fo the AJ challenge but I can never get the shop searches to work properly. The less time I have to poke around,t he more it acts up, the more frustraed I get and then I give up. I think I need to find some ways to practice self care when I get all worked up too Haha!!!

Time to shut up, Faery, and get your day started.

Have wonderful day!!

Quick in and out... No, not up to running errands. Decided that I didn't need any more books or DVDs right now so am staying home and calling it a PJ day!
Guess I should call this a Gown/Robe Day instead of PJ Day... :floorlaugh:
Glad that you are taking it easy. But someone!! Get our Lady a Crown! :crown1:

I did get to the craft store and found some lovely papers and flowers to make Aunt Betty's 90 birthday card.I hope to work on that a bit today.
Sorry that youa re s till dealign with more snow! How sweet to make your Aunt a card, did you get any pictures of it? I am sure it is beautiful, you are so talented.

@AK_Tracy *gentle hugs coming your way* Are you feeling any less stressed/muscle tightness? Sure hope so.
I'm waiting for The Grace Year to come back to me b/c I didn't finish it, hopefully in a few weeks.
I hope you enjoyed your Half-PJ Day and that Remi appreciated you getting dressed to take her outside :) I *know* she did, she is a love bug isn't she?
That is the one main comaliant I have about borrowing ebooks. So frustrating knowing that you can't keep it an extra day like you can with a "real" book. I find that if I am getting close tot he deadline, I rush through it, and the endings are never satisfying. YKWIM?

Woke up to a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain but it should be melted very soon. So no shoveling, Yay! More snow predicted on Tuesday, maybe 2" maybe 8", depends on whose web page you look at. I think the news stations always over-predict because they like the hype. I don't trust them. There's one local guy who pretty much always refuses to do that, so I mostly look at him.
Eww that is a nasty weather mix- did everything melt? Hope it did.
I have one guy that I follow on FB for that same reason. He is so much more accurate than the "big" news weather outlets.
How exciting to be planning a cruise!! And 50 years! That is amazing :loveangel:

I want to go on your expeditions! They sound like so much fun! If I lived near you, I would!
I wish you did and that you could!
Yes, I had a pretty good scrapping day. Got caught up on my ATCs before I had to get dressed to go and pick up the car from the shop. And then we went out to supper.
Fantastic!!
Oh maybe not so fantastic. :/ In your next post, I see that you had a bad experience at Ruby Tuesdays and that your engine light is on again. Argh!!!
Wow I'm so late checking in today. Well yesterday's visit to my friend was very upsetting to me.
I am so sorry. I'm sending you big hugs, that has to break your heart to see such huge changes in your friend. It's hurting my heart and I don't know her but I know it has to be so difficult and gut wrenching. I am happy that your DH took good care of you afterward and took you out to lunch.
You were a social butterfly talking and texting with everyone. I hope that isn't why your DH was feeding you and that he expects to you to fly away with the monarchs :p heehee

@deej Oh my, how are you feelign today? I can't believe that you sat for 9 games-- especially with 4 bulging disks! I sure hope that you have been doing nothing but relaxing with your feet up. Your DH sounds like he is a sweetheart!

hehe, my bird app just went off ten times in a row-- I have a huge flock of juncos. I counted 14 of them early this morning. Could be less, might be more. They were so busy hopping and flying around it was hard to count. It was like one of the mini-games in Mario Party where you have to count characters (turtles maybe? I dunno, Mario World isn't my area of expertise LOL).
The cardinals make me laugh the most when they grab the seed and stare at the camera with it in its beak.
Right now, a junco is getting buzzed by a titmouse and is yelling at him and won't let him land. :)

Not feeling all that great to be honest! But it can take several days for me to recuperate after the tournament. I have been taking it easy and plan to do so the rest of today before work tomorrow. Yes, he is definitely a sweetheart! Thank you!

Ah today is a new day. I took care of my orchids, the monarchs, mopped floors and got some stuff ready for the "Rummage Sale" at our club--she is Canadian so I guess that is why" Rummage Sale". Hubby is making chili to take to Big Game Party at the club. I go over in a little while to help decorate. I will play cards with the girls...not a sport fan.

So all this talk about the bird feeder with the camera..what brand is that please?
I don't have so much trouble with squirrels as I do with raccoons. they are always stealing seeds and knocking over plants in the process.

Took my camera to the shop for a cleaning and now I need to send a lens to canon for service before we go on summer trip and also get it ready for Germany in Sept. Lots of photos will be taken.

It is similar to eco-grief-- the sadness and depression that occurs when you lose something personal like a home due to a climate catastrophe, for ex the CA wildfires or Hurricane Helene. Solastalgia is the current feeling of loss and disconnection because of environmental changes happening in the present. Say you had a favorite lake where you spent all of your childhood summers and it is polluted or has dried up That feeling of loss is solastalgia. OTOH, if you see that same lake is threatened by climate changes, that is eco-anxiety-- things that might happen in the future. Thank you for coming to my TED talk :giggle4:}

Enjoyed your TED talk! ;)

Glad that you are taking it easy. But someone!! Get our Lady a Crown! :crown1:

Sorry that youa re s till dealign with more snow! How sweet to make your Aunt a card, did you get any pictures of it? I am sure it is beautiful, you are so talented.

@AK_Tracy *gentle hugs coming your way* Are you feeling any less stressed/muscle tightness? Sure hope so.

YKWIM?

Eww that is a nasty weather mix- did everything melt? Hope it did.
I have one guy that I follow on FB for that same reason. He is so much more accurate than the "big" news weather outlets.
How exciting to be planning a cruise!! And 50 years! That is amazing :loveangel:

I wish you did and that you could!

Fantastic!!
Oh maybe not so fantastic. :/ In your next post, I see that you had a bad experience at Ruby Tuesdays and that your engine light is on again. Argh!!!

Yeah, I know, it stinks about the car!

Another quick in and out... Been busy most of the day scrapping. Got 1 LO done and uploaded to galleries. Also changed my siggy (finally) using the same collection. And scrapped 2 pre-release LOs. Whew... BTW... is it just me that discovers a misspelling only after the LO/designer info is up-loaded to ALL the galleries??? :hahano: Yep... just spent time going back to get it corrected....

No, I have got to get busy working on the Tax prep papers to see what I am missing. Should get them done and over to my tax gal before Feb 15th.... I know I am still missing 2-3 of them. Need to run over to the neighborhood mailboxes and see if they came in since I last picked up mail.

Good afternoon,
Quick in and out. Nothing going on here today. The temp is in the 70s with lots of sunshine! We actually used the AC on the drive home from church!

The widows' meeting for Tuesday is postponed to the 18th as we are expecting freezing weather and ice on Tuesday. Maybe the freezing weather will kill some of the flu germs hanging around.

That's it for me! I need to do some posting in the gallery this afternoon!
HAGD!
