@Cherylndesigns I am sorry for the loss of your uncle. I have a good friend who lost his grandfather in WWII who wrote a beautiful song. Off to find it for you.
Oh Nonnie, this is so beautiful and moving. I've never heard this before. Thank you so much for finding this for me. I never met my Uncle Franklin and his daughter, my cousin Carol, never even got to meet him. He and Aunt Wilma got married and she got pregnant when he was home on leave. When we were teenagers, they had a "funeral ceremony" for my uncle and buried a flag draped coffin, but he wasn't in it. It was just a formality. I wish I could remember more about it, but they never found any of his remains. As I recall, it was the official end of looking for any remains. When my sister and I visited the new WWII War Memorial in DC, we were able to find all of his information in the computer stations there. It was such a moving moment for us. We were there right after it opened. Thank you again.
