How organized are you?

I'm talking about any kind of organization. I go a little bit crazy when I can't find what I'm looking for in the kitchen. Bless his heart, my hubby really helps out in the kitchen - he loves to cook - but he puts things in a different place every time. That's just one example.

Do you have any organizational pet peeves? I know I'll have others to add after I see if you have any. #crazy-2

I am a Project Manager so I have ridiculous, borderline OCD levels of organization. My work notebook has legend status in my industry LOL!

I am a card maker and I have an online library of all of my stamp sets, tagged so I can easily find things (flowers, birthday, sentiments, etc) and I have a similar one for my scrapping kits.

Everything in my home has a place and I love a label maker!

I am not a fan of Marie Kondo, I feel no need to purge every 5 minutes and everything brings me joy. I believe if you are organized, then you won't have clutter.

I am my own Marie Kondo. Everything in my house has its place. But sometimes the *everything* magically shifts to another place ...

absolutely not Marie Kondo ... but everything has its place ...
My husband's 'collections' annoy me more...
He has a collection of LPs that he started collecting at the age of 13...
Part of them are in the garage ... (which is no longer a garage but storage space / laundry room / bicycle shed ...) and part is in the guest room ...
When the CD came into existence, he, as a music lover, switched to CDs ... only part of which has room in the music cabinet ... and partly is also in ... the guest room ... the guest room also contains his DVDs ...
He is also a collector of comics… There are two bookcases of comics in the playroom - the old dark room has been converted and there are also a number of bookcases of comics… but there are still a dozen stacks the box waiting to be placed ....
He cannot say goodbye to the DVDs, the old CDs ... even though the DVD player is rarely used ... and the old CDs are no longer listened to ... I would like to add that all CDs and DVD are stored in order ...

OMG, this thread is very funny- trying to be organized is my lifelong struggle. I don't think I have any rhyme or reason for how things are stored, other than a lack of space.
My DD- she *thrives* on organization. One of the first things she showed me in her work office was her drawer full of her org. supplies. I bet she and @ClaireG would have some fascinating discussions on the proper use of Post-Its, highlighter colors, and how many label markers is too many to own. :rotfl:
My mom is literally OCD about how things need to be organized. I was at my parents' house yesterday, helping them sort through junk to donate. As we finished one area, she had to "fix" the way the boxes were stacked so they were all lined up *exactly*. But then, when I opened a box of photos. OMG, it was a jumbled mess, pictures of her on her Communion along with pictures of my kids- all together, just floating around.
I made my mom buy me some photo storage boxes yesterday, brought that mess of a box home, and guess what I am doing today? :D

Organization. #crazy-2 I too am a project manager and my work is extremely organized. My Daily Planner is color coded.

Then there is my home. When I had kids, between work and kids, I was just too tired to stay organized. Fortunately, Brian likes things in their place. So he keeps things looking presentable. But, behind the scenes, oh my. When we moved to Florida, we lost LOTS of storage space. I have recently spent a great deal of time re-organizing all of the boxes of storage. Someday, if I live long enough, I'll get there.

Do you want to see my clinically OCD mom's idea of photo storage?

On the bottom are pictures of her as a kid, also in the green folders halfway up the pile. The photo on the top left is my g-parents who died in 1993 and 1994. The one directly underneath them is me and my brother probably in 1971. And then as you can see printed on the blue photo- that is Caitlyn in 2004.

Oh, those collections!!! I'm kind of guilty of collection things, too.

You know what? My parents were the same way! There house looked very neat and organized, but they "hid" all their stuff. When we cleaned out their house, we were shocked at what we found! Mom had huge shelving cabinets installed many years ago and they were beautiful built-ins. We had no idea how much stuff those held. The funniest thing we found was my sister's cast from her wrist when she was 6 years old!!! We about cracked up! :floorlaugh:

OMG this is hilarious, Chris!! I know you've had fun going through her stuff though and have a treasure trove of pictures now. Too bad Cait didn't want any of your mom's or grandmother's clothes to wear to work. :rotfl:

I´m very, very organized. If you only knew all the things I have to do every day... a full time job, hubby, all my CT´s, cleaning, shopping, cooking and the cattery... well, I really do have to be organized. :runningdog:
Girl, you have your hands full - especially with the cattery. How are the little babies and mommas doing?

When I was in 7-9th grade, I wore a back brace for scoliosis. My mom had the best idea, we named it (Beverly- probably after B. Cleary) so it seemed a little more familiar as well as that being a good code name. I think my mom got somewhat attached because it stayed in her closet for years after I was out of it. I think they finally tossed it after I moved out. Hysterical that you found a cast!

It was SO funny when we found that, Chris. So your mom kept your back brace for years, too? Hysterical :rotfl:

Well, we are surviving to this first litter. We have now four fat and growing beautiful babies but the mother is ready for the party again. Me and hubby are giving them milk in a bottle every 2 hours. Our lives run in the middle of this, LoL in the next 15 days we are expecting more babies and ... oh, man!! we are exhausted, we need at least one good night sleep.

This thread is awesome. @faerywings your DD and I need a chat. My workbook is colour coded by date/day using highlighters. I am so pedantic about it, I cut and punch my own paper!!

I love hearing what everyone else does, it's so cool. I have always been a bit of a slob, but moving to FL, gave me space to organise everything correctly, my long-suffering hubby is DELIGHTED that my slob has moved somewhere else!

Claire, she would love that, her face lights up when she talks about color coding. :D
I think it started either in her Jr/Sr year of HS or when she got into college, but she started taking notes with different colored pens. Then in college, for sure, she would rewrite all her notes and use her highlighters to signify what type of information it was. For example; Green was definitions, pink was for people, and blue was for theory. It must have worked b/c she got incredible grades in college and at the Master's Level.

OT but very proud mama moment: She graduated with a 3.96 with her BA and got all As for her MSW.
I know, I am 100% bragging but she kicked butt and that was during the Covid years.
