Well we've pretty much heard what happened to Clara...

... now it's my turn to share! Please tell me I'm not alone in this and share your tax filling horror stories too.

So I finally e-filed our taxes today because I FINALLY got Jeff to look over them... and I checked right before going to bed at 2am to see if there was a status update.

IRS rejected.... I entered the wrong adjusted gross income for myself for 2009...

I entered 2008's AGI...

... I'm not only graying & hard of hearing, ... I'm apparently BLIND now because I didn't see the huge 2008 going across the cover of the old return I was looking at.

Oh and there's a bit of memory loss in there too...

... because I forgot I didn't have to file my taxes for 2009! I took the year off from digiscrapping AND working apparently to graduate and get hitched. Didn't remember that until after spending 15 minutes scouring my HD for my 2009 return. I had lots of contracted work but never added up to an amount where they wanted me to file.

Soooo I logged back into the site we use and entered my big shiny 0... submitted... and it's time to count :sheep1 & :sleep:

I hope I wake up to hearing some of your taxes horror stories so I know I'm not alone!!!!
 
TAX HORROR STORIES????

I GOT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Several years ago, I came home to open a letter from our STATE TAX DEPT saying they were going to be garnishing over $6000.00 from my husband's paycheck!! WTH?????????????????????????????? I went into full blown PANIC mode!!!!!!!! As it said they were taking 100% of his check.....the reaason was they had been notified we had filed with the IRS for tax year 1999 and never filed a state tax return. So....I spent hours on the phone trying to get help...mostly on hold. I finally got a lady that was helpful and she fixed it so they would only withhold $50 per week until it was all straight...so I got out our tax return for that year and faxed off the copy to the state....they withheld $50 on that following Friday....then the next week I got a notice the the garnishment had been lifted and there were not taxes due....UUUUUGGHHHH!!! Guess how long it took me to get that $50 back??? 4 months!!!! NO INTEREST INCLUDED EITHER!!!! BTW.....I did the math...to OWE over $6000 to the state...we would have had to make over $400,000 that year...BWhahahahahaha!!! That was the actual amount that was witheld from our paychecks that year!!!!

The only other Tax Horror Story I have is two years ago we got an audit. I had to send in all the copies of my receipts and such...and list of all my medical bills and donations and such.....We made a error and had to pay back about $300 PLUS INTEREST!!! GRRRRRRR!!! and only had 30 days to do so!!!! When I asked how our tax return came up for an audit they said they just randomly pick people....some people have obvious things that they are pulled for...but others are just a number that they pick!!! BAH!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to OWE $6000!! and ofcourse make that 400,000!!
 
Oh my goodness Nana!!!! That would kill me... I seriously would be in the state capital banging on the governor's mansion door to get it fixed if that happened to me.
 
Well, it all worked out for me so I have faith it will come together and work for you. Saying a quick little tax prayer for you.
 
my only horror story is that we couldnt' efile this year so we have NO IDEA when we'll be getting our taxes back...
