This evening I'm watching the final episode of the Voice of Holland. It's the only talent show I watch. It's kind of a ritual, we have been watching it for years with the kids. Not that we like it so much, but it is fun to comment, to express our opinions, not only about the singing, but also about the cloths the contestants wear and about the jury. :gossip:
We always make sure we have something to eat and we have a special family evening.

I know America has it's talent shows. America got talent? The Dutch Glennis Grace participated in that show, and got into the final I believe? I also think Idols was on in America. Here too, but not anymore. That was a funny show though, because people without any talent to sing came there too, which was rather funny at times.
I'm not sure about other countries, if they have talents shows too on tv.

So do you all watch? Do you like these shows?

I totally missed the Voice this year.

Friday night at our house is footbal, not watching it, but watching men talk about it!!!
but football is the only interest on tv of my husband, so the rest of the time it is mine!

We have a lot of talent shows, it is hard to keep track these days! especially who wins. I can remember who won the first years of idols, or the voice but the later winners are already forgotten here.
Only a few make it big in showbusiness.

so I am going to add a question to this topic,

are there big international stars that started on a talent show?

We watched the Voice (US) for many years, but it sort of fell off for us over the last few seasons. American Idol is the same, just can't seem to get in to it anymore.

I never watched Dancing with the Stars but I did love So You Think You Can Dance.

We have lot of these talent shows.
It's not my cup of tea, but my family really likes one show where local actors and singers imitating world famous singers. It's shouldn't be a parody, but close to the original at its possible.

I used to watch American Idol religiously, until it became ridiculous. I hate the fact that they gave background info and often sad stories about the singers, along with a parent or spouse or sibling just raving about their voice, and then it turns out that they are terrible. Also, then there was a lot of bleeping, and it was NOT a family show. I remember when my son was about 7 (he's 19), he asked, "Mommy, why is that girl dressed like a chicken when she's singing?" That was the end of that show.

So, when The Voice came on, I thought it was great, because it really brings out talented singers. The one thing that I don't particularly care for is that they allow singers that have already been in the business, like singing background for big name singers. I LOVE the blind auditions!
