Tandem Bicycles

The other day I was driving home and I saw a couple riding a tandem bicycle. Boy, did that bring up memories! When I was a child, my older sisters would take my younger sister and I to a recreation area where you could rent bikes. We would always get the tandem ones, so that an older sister was riding with a younger one. Lots of good times were had on those adventures!

There is also a tourist destination here in Michigan - Mackinac Island - which doesn't allow motor vehicles, so you get around by walking, horse, or bicycle - including tandem bikes. I've had a few fun excursions there, too.

Have you ever ridden a tandem bike?

I've always been intrigued by these bikes but have never ridden on one!

Oh, what a fabulous bike!! I have never used one but I can´t stop thinking ... it is easier to fall from one of those, no?

I love that picture but I've never ridden one. I always wanted more control over the bike I was riding.

I have, but I did not like it!
It really is a 2 persons job and you have to work together. The riding is not the problem but the stopping for traffic, lights, etc. and getting back on is to much work.

That's the key! The two riders have to be able to coordinate their movements. On the other hand, if you have a strong rider and a not-so-skilled one, it can be a good way for the strong rider to help the weaker one.

No, but I would love to try it. Mind you, I don't want to sit in front, that's a good place for hubby. But sitting in the back, being able to look around and see everything .... that would be great!

Yes I have. I made hubby sit in front as he was much stronger and made him do most of the work. It was most enjoyable.
