Spiral Bound

I hope this is okay to ask here, if not I'm sorry and I will take down my question.
I am looking to create a cookbook for my family and I would like it spiral bound. Shutterfly doesn't do spiral bound books. I'm looking for recommendations on places that print photo books in spiral binding. I am looking at less then 10 copies total printed so a book publishing place is out. I found the most awesome template here in the store and its inspired me to move from idea to actual project. Just need printing help as I want spiral for ease of flipping pages.
Thank you.

Yes, Jean @scrap-genie - I was going to say Staples. I have an old spiral bound cookbook that needs re-binding and I'm going to try there.

Tracy, let us know who you decide on. I really need to get my old cookbook re-spiraled. Is that even a word???

We dont have Staples. Hmmmm wonder if they do mail in stuff. Office Depot is a long way from me too. Hmmmm then there is printing the pages. I have not checked Walgreens. @scrap-genie thanks I didn't think of Walgreens and we have one near by, so I will see what they offer. Cheryl I'll let you know what I find. @Cherylndesigns I fear it might be a book book that doesn't lay as flat as I want. Off to look at Walgreens website.

Sigh :sad2:
All anyone does spiral bound is notebooks and you can only design the cover. Why??? Am I the only one who wants to make recipes and have them open flat on my counter?

When I made calendars for our friends kids I had them printed at Persnickety Prints , but always had Staples bind them .

Would there not be some kind of business document type printing service where you print out the pages and have them spiral bound?
So not a spiralbound photobook per se, but a recipe books printed on "normal" paper...

I'll have to see what the options are and if anyone local does spiral binding.

Yes, I was going to say what Mel already said. Get your single pages printed out first, like Persnickety Prints as Jeanne suggested, or another place, then find a local business that has one of those machines to stamp some holes into your paper......... you can then go online and find a spiral coil which you would then thread into your book yourself. I ended up with huge book for my 100 days project last year and for which I spent weeks trying to find some sort of spiral coil to fit it but I couldn't find one big enough! lol!

And would you believe it *insert twilight music here* I was laying in bed only this morning thinking on how to bind that journal as it has been sitting in a box all of this time and thought, well I think I will just have to half it and make two book journals out it.......... it means I will have to make a second book cover but that is okay, but at least I would be able to get a coil for it! lol!

This is a tutorial I found on Youtube about different ways of book binding, there is spiral one, right down the bottom.

And these are the coils that I was thinking of getting, but I did want gold metal not plastic but this could be an option for a cook book though (price is in AU dollars) but of course not sure if AliExpress would ship to you?

And I told a fib above, it wasn't the 100 day project journal, it was the journal I made after that!!!! It was one I bought years ago at a craft show and it was already bound with a spiral coil and had blank pages. However, once I started working in it, it started to G R O W so I had to eventually take out the coil for the pages to lie flat! lol! Sooooo, perhaps my great idea from this morning may not be the solution at all! And I remember now, when buying a spiral, you need some specific measurements like the distance between each hole in the paper, and how many holes to an inch and because this journal had the pre punched pages I couldn't find one to fit.

So we both have a problem to be solve to do with spiral coils it seems!! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Oh great, now I'm gonna worry about your project and how to fix it along with mine. :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: Oh we are a pair.

I've thought about using the "combs" (as they're called in USA) that you can punch and then add pages to, but I didn't want to buy the machine to make the holes. oooooohhhhhhhhh maybe a school has a whole punch I can borrow! Oh great idea!!!! I love when a plan comes together! Helps to think out loud. Thanks for the idea.

:floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: What is that saying, 'a problem shared is a problem halved.' Yes, the school would be a great option! and yeah the smaller plastic binders are what we call combs down here, these ones
