I think it's time to replace our scanner that's probably at least five years old. I have a ton of photos I want to scan in. Family photos etc. Anyone have any advice. I'm pretty happy with the printer as a photo printer (although it's of course, not large format), so I think I just want a good scanner. Anyone have any advice.
 
hi Sara! we have a 3 in 1 Canon MP970 and it is brilliant.......as to scanner only I'm not sure but have had Canon in past and would go there again. I just hate it when I have to upgrade stuff, I LOVE that all my stuff is working at the moment and wouldn't want to change anything. lol !! :)
 
Thanks Ona. I love Cannon cameras. And i just read good reviews on a Cannon scanner, the 8800F. I might go with that unless anyone else has other suggestions...
 
Hey Ona - how big is the bed on the scanner? If I can get that for only $60 more than the scanner I'm looking at.....I might consider that instead and upgrade the photo printing capabilities as well.
 
Sara........it's a little bit bigger than an A4 size paper............it really has a great resolution options but what I LOVE most is the printing capabilities!! it has 6 (or 7?) ink cassettes and two of them are 'photo' ones........the colour and resolution is absolutely amazing!! and they last fairly well too...........but if you plan to sit down and print like 20 -25 pages using high resolution printing paper then make sure you have some spares handy!! if you are only printing out the occasional then they will last for ages.
 
Excellent. I found a refurbished one on Ebay for basically $130 dollars. The seller is a power seller with thousands of sales and has 100% feedback. I'm contemplating going for it. After checking with dh, at least. =)
 
I have the Canon 8800F and I love it! The smart recognition is awesome because you can put a bunch of photos in the bed and it automatically separates and saves them for you. I've had it about 6 months and I am super happy with it.
 
Sweet!!!! Thanks Laura!!! I'm going to try to convince DH to let me get the one on Ebay I think.
