Welcome to Week 2 of our November Art Journaling Challenges. This month, our word prompt is SAVOR. This is the perfect time to slow down, breathe deeply, and truly SAVOR the moments.

This month isn’t about collecting more or rushing ahead. It’s about noticing what’s already here - the golden light through the window, the laughter in a shared story, the warmth of a mug held in both hands. When we choose to SAVOR, we honor life’s gentle details and give gratitude a place to bloom.

Let this challenge be your invitation to pause and linger a little longer - over a memory, a meal, a friendship, or the rhythm of your own heartbeat. Savoring is a form of art, and you are the artist, blending awareness and appreciation into every brushstroke of your day.

To SAVOR is to pause, to linger, to let a moment rest on the
tongue of your life before it slips away. In a world that rushes us forward, savoring is
the gentle art of slowing down and being fully present.
There is a difference between consuming and savoring. We can rush through a meal,
a day, or even a season - or we can choose to taste it, notice it, and let it nourish us.
Savoring is not just about food; it is about experiences, relationships, and moments of
stillness. When we savor, we step out of the hurried rhythm of the world and into a
slower, more attentive pace.

Think of a time when you savored a simple joy - perhaps a cup of coffee enjoyed
slowly, a child’s laughter echoing in the room, or the glow of a sunset at the close of
day. Those are the moments that stay with us, not because they were grand, but
because we allowed ourselves to fully receive them. As we move through this month together, may your pages and your heart reflect a simple truth: that life, when savored, becomes a masterpiece.

Here are some quotes that really spoke to me:

"Sometimes we need the salt of tears to remind us how to savor the sweetness of life."
Lysa TerKeurst
"Seize every second of your life and savor it. Value your present moments" -Wayne Dyer

“Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the whole earth
revolves.” — Thich Nhat Hanh

“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two
deep breaths.” — Etty Hillesum

“Be here now.” — Ram Dass
“The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see
it.” — Thich Nhat Hanh

Sayings & Reflections:

** Life isn’t meant to be gulped, but savored sip by sip.
Don’t count the moments, make the moments count.
*Savoring is gratitude in action.
*The slower you go, the more you see.
* A smile shared is a flavor of life to be savored.

Here's a mood board I put togetherfor more inspiration:

Here's the layout I created:

You can choose to do a single page, double page, tag, TN each week, or use a divided template—one part for each week. If you don’t have the Divided Template and would like to have it, you can get it here at Dropbox. Thank you to Ona @wombat146 for providing the template choices for us! If you use the template, we would love it if you post incrementally: post one done in the first week, post an image of the two together on the second, and so on until the finished page in the fourth week.

Again—the template is NEVER a requirement, just something fun and different if you want to use it.

Challenge Rules:
  • You have until 11:59 p.m. CST on November 30 to complete your pages for this challenge.
  • To qualify for the drawing, you need to use 80% Oscraps products that are currently in the store (non-Oscraps products or retired O designer products can be used whether the designer is selling elsewhere or not).
  • You need to credit all the products used on your page.
  • You cannot use a page you create for this challenge for another Oscraps challenge.
  • Upload your page to the Art Journal Gallery and then add your layout to the challenge thread. (Below you will find instructions on adding your page to this thread.)
Adding a linked layout from the Gallery to a thread:
  • Upload your layout to the gallery first. In your forum post, click the Gallery Embed icon (little camera).
  • This will open your gallery; simply click on the layout you require, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the Continue button.
  • Your linked layout is now in your post; the image will appear once you have clicked the Post Reply button.
Everyone who participates in any of this month's challenges will be entered into a drawing for a $5 gift certificate to Oscraps. You can receive up to four entries into this month's drawing.

We look forward to seeing your art journaling pages!
