This week's kit includes:

This moment. One moment.
There are moments that are jarring, or revealing, and lead to great change.
An example would be JK Rowling, who, on a delayed train has the sudden thought to
write about a boy who doesn't yet know he's a wizard. And today, the world knows
and loves Harry Potter. Or the moment when Isaac Newton is strolling in an apple
orchard and has an insight that helps define gravity. Or tragic moments, such
as the first explosion in the recent Boston marathon.
These are the moments that call us to attention. Life-changing moments
that are almost larger than life. But without that blaring call to attention, what moments
might we miss? The other night I received an unexpected and almost gleeful hug
from my daughter, soon to be 12. Often I might quickly hug back and get on with my day,
thinking of the next seven things that had to be done. But by some stroke of luck,
I was caught in the moment. I noticed how tall she was getting as she aged.
I realized how often I longed for a hug from her as she rarely expresses emotion physically.
I physically felt the strength in her arms as she embraced me. And I knew, that in the next
few years, these moments might be much harder to come by.
This kit inspires me to seek out more of these moments, that I otherwise might casually
shrug off. And I find myself eager to go through my photographic moments and
preserve them in my own designs created with this week's joyful and versatile kit!
