How hard is it to do a factory reset on your fonts?

Hi. I'm Chris. I'm a Fontaholic.

I have way too many fonts. All over my computer. And I keep collecting them. Some are installed. Some are in one big folder. Others are sort of groups by font type on another folder on another drive. I have three hard drives and there are fonts located on each and every one of them.
Every time I get a new computer or hard drive, I get overwhelmed by thinking of sorting through them to declutter and give up. I have used programs like FontBase and NexusFont with no luck.
I am now at the point where I think I need to go back to System Fonts only and then reinstall only the ones that I use. I'll *keep* the rest of the ones I use less frequently but I think I need to come up with some kind of better system.

I asked my husband to help me but he didn't want to touch that with a 10-foot pole (rightly so! Could you imagine the blame he would get if I deleted my favorite font of the moment? )
If I copied all of the fonts currently in my WIndows Font folder and then reset that to System fonts only- how would I do that?

I have no answer to this...but I need more fonts! I am using this as a cautionary tale however and trying to restrain myself.

You don't want to be in the mess I have made. But you can never have too many fonts, just be more selective in the ones that you keep and where you keep them

I have to say, though it annoys me at times, it's a blessing that most fonts don't have the Scandinavian letters, and I've decided that the font has to be something REALLY special for me to download and install if it doesn't have them. Saved me from having too many fonts installed. LOL

Soon i will install a second hand MacBook ... my son bought a new one for his company ... his 'old one' (4y old) is for me ...
I've copied all the fonts that are now on the mac into a folder on my EHD but I'm not going to reinstall them...
I'm going to select some fonts that I will reinstall... but I'm not sure which ones yet.. .
