Oscraps

Help please.

Hi, I am currently going through all my photos. Some are of my grandpaperents, some of me and my children and places I've been. I have loads of photos that are just singles or ones and twos and don't fit into an event as such. What is the best way to go about scrapping these?

Also, I have been married 4 times and some of the old wedding photos or photos with me an an ex have been thrown out. I realise now I should have kept some as they are still a part of my life's journey even if they were abusive husbands.

I'd like to sort of do grandparents, me, children etc but I am just overwhelmed by the thought of it. Some I already have as digital images but a lot are actually real photos. I know I can scan them but what does one do with the original once you've scanned it? Keep them or what?

Ideas or suggestions would be very welcome please.

Joy xx

Hi :)

Depending on what you want to do with your "single" photos I'd advise you to go and browse the gallery : there are many 1 photo LOs in there that might inspire you
Or if you're doing chronological albums, you could group the "single" photo per year for example, to put at the beginning or end of the year ... ?

If you're going to scan photos, I'd still keep the originals, maybe stored away in order to lessen the clutter, but in a place where I'd know they are ;)

I think I'd like them in chronological order as best I can but scrap really good ones as singles. Off to mooch in the gallery. I think I'll put the relavant original photos into boxes once I've scanned them with as much info as I can remember and give them to my children.

My advice would be to scrap those photos that speak to you most first, even if this is out of chronological order. The great joy of digi scrapping is you can store them in whatever order you choose - for instance, I print my LOs out in a photobook but only once every year or less, in no particular order, but will happily re-print any number if I decide to do a specific themed photobook eg: I put together a collection of LOs of my kids in dressing up costumes which spanned about 10 yrs and printed a one off book of just these LOs.

If you paper scrap as well, which I do, you can always move completed LOs around in your album - annoying to do, but not impossible - to sort them into chronological order if that's what you want.

But I find that scrapping won't happen at all for me unless I WANT to scrap that photo/story - so I would stay start with your favourite photos/stories and work around to the others as and when.

Best of luck with your projects and keep us posted as to how you get on.

Yes I agree with Selena, perhaps start scrapping with the ones that do 'speak to you' first, then perhaps do a second page using multi photo template to house other photos from around the same time. That way you will have one photo scrapped and the others on the opposite page - if you are going to print that is. But really, get started, and as S. said, fill in the gaps later. :)

I'm in the same boat having to scrap multiple albums and the thought of sorting them all put me off. I came here to Oscraps to stop my mind freezing over and to find my mojo.

I've been scrapping just what I like and it's liberating. The galleries here are full of inspiration and the challenges are also great for getting us to think outside the square. I really love the challenges. They've helped me so much. I often dig around looking for a photo that fits the theme and discover all sorts of possibilities.

My next venture is to tackle multiple photos on a page but I will use templates and follow the inspiration here. Hopefully that will keep me on track.

I'm having too much fun to do it any other way. I know that sooner or later I will get round to those photos I really 'should be' scrapping but I'm not going to make it a mountain I have to climb.

Good luck with it. I'm sure you'll work it out. When you don't know where to start often the best thing to do is just look at what everybody else is doing and branch out. LOL
