Help! hopefully someone can help me with CS2

I am not sure if this is the right spot or not but here it goes ....

A while back I must have done something as when ever I use the elipitical marquee tool or brushes etc. it always comes out as faded never as clear cut and like now I am trying to make a note paper which is like it is torn out of it's notebook except the edges of the eliptical marquee tool come of faded!

Please please help me as I am going bonkers over this!
 
I think you need to take your feathering down to 0. I don't have CS2, I have CS3. On mine, it's in the very top tool bar on the left. There's the marquee shape-chooser button, then the buttons for add/subtract/instersect from selection, then the feathering box.

If that doesn't do it, maybe someone else has an idea? There is a "Need Help" section of the forum you could search too.
 
It sounds like you probably have the Feather setting for your Marquee Tool at something other than zero. When you have the Marquee selected, the sub-menu should appear at the top of the window. Put a zero in the Feather field and you should be all set! :) HTH
 
Thank you ladies so much that was my problem :) Ohh how it feels great to have it sorted out! As it was troubling me so much over the past few weeks and not to mention how much it was hindering me too.
