I used to live in France a long time ago, in Grenoble, also near the Alps! Beautiful place and I could see the snow-peaked mountains from where I lived!

I don't know that you lived in France Snowdrop, Grenoble is a lovely town too and so well placed to practice ski!!

I was there from 1993 - 95, then I moved to the UK. I chose Grenoble because I thought I could try skiing but I only did it twice when I lived there! :-o But I love every minute of my stay in France! I still miss it and love to go back on holidays! I used to live in Vichy before when I learnt French in a language school there.
