Eraser brushes

I don't know when things changed...maybe with the latest CC upgrade to 2018, but in the past I could make any brush usable with the eraser tool. I liked that because I could erase parts of a mask, for instance, with irregular strokes. Now, most of the time when I click the eraser tool, then go to choose which brush I want to use with it, it reverts to the brush tool. I have trouble finding any brushes except the hard or soft round brushes that will work with the eraser tool.

Anyone else having this issue? I Googled it and couldn't find an answer that I could understand.

I tested mine and it still works the same as you describe, using any brush.

I don't have a problem either but I always erase with a mask and brush which is the same thing really but allows you to undo just by deleting the mask when undo might not be an option.

Somehow things are working properly again! I typically use a mask, but sometimes just wat a quick little erase. Thanks!
