MOrning peeps- one day closer to EAster. Today I will be on the road as MMG has work stuff to accomplish and I am going along for the ride after we do dance lessons. So I will have to check in later to see what everyone is accomplishing. Taking my camera- perhaps some nice photos to take along the way!

Quick drive by here. This week has been crazy. Who am I kidding??? They are all crazy! Anyway, I'm about to put together a grocery list and get my shopping done for dinner tomorrow.

My family never acts very excited about dinner but Dad said that my nephew asked what we were doing for Easter dinner. He hadn't heard anything and he wanted to be sure that we were having it. Zeb is 18 and at the stage where he doesn't do much talking but he didn't want to miss dinner. Never mind that his mom and I had discussed it several weeks ago. I facebooked all of the teens so that they would know. ;-)

Oh, and we had the warmest March in the history of Iowa. It was warm enough that it would have been the 11th warmest April on record! Now they say that the temps are starting to drop and we may even get a freeze next week. Booooo!!!!

Good morning!!

Busy day here today. We're coloring Easter eggs now, then lunch, groceries and prepping for Easter services (iron dresses, baths, etc.) My husband is preaching the Easter sunrise service tomorrow morning.

I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!

back for a quick minute...
Happy Easter to everyone too. My DD was sad that we didn't do eggs/ egg hunt/baskets this year. I don't think we did them all the last few years but I feel bad that she is bummed. Oh well, maybe I can remember in enough time next year so we can dye eggs and all that good stuff?

I just made 2 desserts for tomorrows dinner at my brothers. I had found them both on pinterest so I was pretty happy that they both came out yummaliscious! One is Matzoh Crack- and let me tell you-- addictive stuff! The other was an oreo pudding thingy. Scraping the bowl-- also very yummy!

Easter Pie- yup, Italain tradition. Every family/region is a bit different but they mostly are a ricotta and meat pie. My mom uses pizza dough for the crusts, ricotta, ham, bologna and pepperoni. So good! My dad's side of the family made it flatter- and with prosciutto and ham as well as a wheat pie that is more like a dessert dish. I;d love to post the recipe but thee isn't one. I have helped her make them once before but I really need to go down next year and do it with her again. If anything ever happened to my mom, the recipe would be lost.

Trudy- def. read Hunger Games- very easy read, fast paced and I could not put it down. I don't have much interest in the movie- I'll wait to see it on Netflix.

Kristy- wtg on more weight loss!!

Safe travels to all of you and have a very happy day with your families!

Oh my goodness...went to Costco! Totally CRAZY! But most of the food is purchased. A few things that I need to get from store (in not quite the bulk of Costco) and I am right now churning butter. I will then make strawberry butter out of it.

And, I'm listening to Barry Manilow. He is coming to Des Moines on Thursday night and they just reduced ticket prices to $9.99. Brian has to work but I'm thinking that Syd and Shaun may just get introduced to Barry Manilow this week!

I asked Brian what kind of mother would haul their 8 and 9 year olds to Barry Manilow. I think we decided that it was a bit unusual since most mothers of 8 and 9 year olds would have never heard of Barry Manilow. :-)

I remember him from when he was on the Muppet Show :D

Two more stops, then we are eating at a sherrifs plave turned into the olde jole house restaurant for dinner.

OH it was really neat- not to busy either- started with 5onion french onion soup, had steak, scallops, salad, fresh rolls with real butter, garlic mashed red potatoes and creme brule- now where am I going to put tomorrows brunch?? I did take some pics, but have not downloaded them yet.

Good morning and Happy Easter!!!

It's been a busy morning already for me. I woke up with DH at 3 this morning. He had to leave for his sunrise service at 4:30, so I got up with him and started cooking. I've made a coconut cake, deviled eggs, and strawberry pretzel salad so far. I'll slow-bake the ham all day. Then this afternoon I'll make macaroni & cheese, green beans and rolls for our Easter dinner. Whew! I think I'll need a nap today.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!!

Alleluia Happy Easter! I am getting ready to walk on the treadmill after eating so much last night, then off to church with my husband & son followed by brunch. Have wonderful days everyone.

Up and back in the kitchen! I think that a nap is in order today for sure. And, of course, for those of you celebrating Easter with me...He is Risen Indeed!

Happy Easter all!

Today is dinner midday at my son's house. I think the 'guest' list is now around 15! so I grilled 6 lb of asparagus last night and boiled 30 eggs. DH is making the deviled eggs this am, and I'm going to steam another 6 lb of asparagus. Half will be the grilled with a light vinagrette and the other will just be warm and plain. Well with a finely minced hardboiled egg on top for pretty.

No colored Easter eggs for me this year. I'll let my dil do that part! cya later

Happy Easter! in my faith tradition we say to each other "Christos Voskrese!" and answer "Voistinnu Voskrese!" Christ is risen.! Indeed he is risen! may we all go forward confident and joyful in the lives won for us at so high a price.

lots of housework ahead for me. The Grandmen approach! They will be here on Tuesday. right in time for the rain and 40 degree temps to arrive! :rain: we will be celebrating Easter next Friday while they are here. my son wants to have the traditional Easter dinner while at home. so today we're just thinking about what Easter means, without any of the trappings.

Hope you all have a lovely day!

Awww, Happy Easter to all of you!!!! I love hearing the joy in your "voices." I know this sounds beyond weird, but even though I personally do not believe, it makes me so happy that my dear friends find joy and happiness and comfort in this day. I mean that so sincerely.

I hope that all of you enjoy your day and your families and food!

The kids are and I are off to my brother's in a bit. He is going to be having 20+ people and I am going to have to beat them all off with a stick so I can spend time with my little man-- who is now taking steps! I have to teach him to say "I love Aunt Chris the best.":D

Have a very blessed day!

Happy Easter!! Off to the In-laws today, unfortunately BIL Mike and SIL Linda will not be able to join us, he is not well and more tumors have been found. Palliative care is the next step for him :hurt: I hate Cancer!! Please say a prayer today for Mike as you attend Easter Service it will be greatly appreciated!! On a happier note... I got to spend all day outside yesterday with MG and we cleaned up the lawns and fertilized the grass. Weeded flower beds and got all the green yuck off of the back deck. When all was done we got the patio furniture out and sat in the sun with a glass of wine. We counted our blessing and we try to remember just how fortunate we are!! Big  to all of you on this Easter Day!

happy easter....we dont celebrate it in the religious sense...just easter baskets and an egg hunt which we did with our neighbors this year at their house...last year was my house so maybe next year will be my house again LOL...kids had a blast and everyone is tuckered out

iim sorry to hear about your BIL Trudy :(
