I have good news! Gary was able to get his insulin pump upgraded! The pump that he has right now is outdated and the company has discontinued all service and supplies for it. The newer pumps with continuous glucose monitoring are really expensive, even when they are covered at 90% of the cost. That company originally offered it to him with an out of pocket cost of $800 (IIRC) and said we could put it on a payment plan. I can't pay the monthly bills as it is! But due to our financial situation, they were able to cover more of it and the small balance that we will owe will be covered when he sends the used pump to them.
This is fantastic news because it will really keep his glucose levels in control and hopefully some of the complications that he is experiencing will not get any worse.
That is such a relief for him and I am really happy any time a small bit of stress is relieved.

Nancy- how nice for you to have your sister with you and I bet Luther was thrilled to have a captive audience. When do you actually leave for your trip? Have a great time!!!

RAE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I am practically in tears- I also happy for B!!!!!!!
Here I am all happy about Gary's new pump. I cannot imagine how relieved that you and Jen are knowing that B will*finally* be getting the proper care and treatment. I know it will be hard to be farther away but hopefully, she will respond to their care and maybe at some point will be well enough to be back near or with you. I keep thinking of Heather's journey and hope B will have the same.

Thank you so much for sharing your news!!

Trudy- I hope that Mason is feeling better and that no one else gets sick. I am really happy to hear that you started painting too.

Felis- I miss you!

Morning ladies... Wow it is very foggy here this morning! I can hardly see the neighbours house across the street LOL. I am off to my hike this morning, which is very near to where my sister lives (the one with the B&B) perhaps I will pop over there after and have a cup of tea with her. It is very chilly so far, so I better remember to pack my mitts and put on my warm socks. I also have some hand and feet warmers already packed in my backpack for my darn Raynauds Syndrome :mmph: I am sorry I never made it back here for personals yesterday. I just got caught up in doing other things and the next thing I knew it was time to go to the eye dr. Everything went well, I do need a new prescription but she says my eyes are healthy and no sign of cataracts or anything, so that is all good. My vision is not that bad and I still only need the glasses for close up, reading and being on the computer. I am getting transitions so that I can wear them outside and read and still protect my eyes from the UV. Now to pick out a new pair of frames, I want DH to come with me to help me choose, if find it hard to make the decision on advice of strangers LOL.

Chris - So happy that your Gary can get a new pump!! That is such wonderful news! Every little bit helps right!! I hope that Mason is feeling better today also, he was coughing terribly yesterday, poor guy he seems to always have a cold! Did I tell you that they are all going to Toronto to spend Thanksgiving with Jason and family? I am so happy that they will all be together! They are going to the Ripley's Aquarium for the day, the kids will have so much fun, so will Jonah as he just loves the sharks! I makes my heart happy to know they will be having a good time together!

Nancy - How great that your sister is with you and that she has finally met Luther! I bet she loves him almost as much as you do! Have a fabulous time on your trip, although I know that you always have a great time with your sister!

Rae - I too am doing a happy dance for the new about B!! It will be so wonderful to have her out of that hospital and in a place that can properly take care of her needs! :bliss: I too hope that she will find some happiness in her future and that one day she will not need the care of others! You are the best Grandma ever!! I know it will be awful to have her so far away, but in the long run it will probably be the best thing for her! I think of you and your family every single day!

Felis - We all miss you!!

Well I better get going and get my lunch packed, hopefully the fog will lift soon or I won't be able to take any good pics today LOL. Have a great day ladies!

Good morning, ladies. Got Taz off to daycare. It was only 39° when I got up this morning. Time to get the warmer jackets out now. Talked to work this morning and they asked me to take on one more day of work. Can't really say no, need the money, but ugh....more to fit into my schedule. I may have to work a bit on the wkend sometimes and work a little later on Fridays.

I noticed my middle finger middle joint was a bit sore and slightly swollen yesterday. Today it is more swollen and can only bend it halfway. Its sore but not painful. Not sure what the heck that is. No other joints are involved. I'll give it a few days and see if it clears up, if not, I'll go to the doctor. Luckily I was able to get my ring off early this morning b/c its a bit more swollen now than it was a few hrs ago and now I wouldn't have been able to get it over the joint. I can type ok, no pain, just sore if I press on the joint and can't bend it much. Don't know if arthritis comes on that quickly or not. Time will tell I guess.

Looking forward to Survivor tonight. My 2 daughters, MIL, D and I are all picking players and whomever has the winner at the end will have a dinner prepared by the rest of us. It'll be a way to get us all to hang out together. With my oldest daughter being more than an hour away, we don't visit as often as we'd like so this will be a fun way to get together.

Chris - great news for G for the pump and more coverage for the cost of it.

Trudy - bundle up today, its cold out there. Should be clear skies though so will probably be a very pretty hike. I returned my plastic framed transitions (felt too heavy) and got titanium wire frames with transitions and now I love them. I'm like you, I don't have to wear them all the time but when I'm out and know I will want to read things, they are comfortable to wear and I'm adjusting to them fairly quickly. Stairs are still a bit wonky so I have to be careful I don't lose my balance and if I forget and try to look sideways it throws me off a bit but overall I am pretty happy and adjusting quickly. Hope you like them too when you get them.

Everyone else out there...hope all is well.

I'm getting to work, got lots to do (of course LOL). BTW, I scrapped yesterday and actually really enjoyed it. I need to fit more of that into my schedule. Have a great day everyone. Gotta go.....

Just a quickie as we're leaving soon to meet someone for lunch. I'm so pleased that Trudy's rainy day challenge led to my actually scrapping a page for the first time in over a month.

So happy for the good news about Gary's pump and B's new hospital plan.

Wishing you all a great day!
