What a difference that a coffee date with your BFF can make with your mental status. It was such a great feeling when we walked out and hugged goodbye and I felt so much better about life in general.
She makes me laugh and think and laugh some more. She is also trying to convince me to go to our 30th HS Reunion. It is being held about 1 mile from my parents' house so I could stay over there. My dad's Fire Dept dinner is the next day. Depending on how I would be feeling doing back to back events, and then the cost, I am not sure if it is a good idea or not. But I told her that I would think about it.

Between Gary and me, we had some issues about gross things leaking. It was "lucky" that I am painting the bathroom because as I was going through the old paint cans, we noticed that there was water all over the floor and that the drain pipe from the kitchen was leaking. Gary ran over to the Sears, got the piece he needed and then had to fix it. Meanwhile, I went upstairs with two possible choices of paint, opened the cans, picked the paint and noticed the color that I wanted was leaking. I guess when I opened the can pressure changes caused the seam to split a bit. I had to run around the house to find a junky container to put the paint in.

Now I have no choice but to finish painting the bathroom today since I don't want to take a chance of leaving a half gal. of paint in an old Tupperware LOL
Food shopping and bill paying are also on the to-do list. yuck.

Have a terrific day everyone! ::grouphug

Rae- how nice to have 2 Thanksgivings. I would like to do that, not for turkey since I don't eat that but mashed potatoes and pie. Yum.
good luck with all of your editing too! Is the computer holding up so far?

Ok, spill it, Trudy- I *need* that recipe for the white choc. pumpkin pie, so plllleeeeaaaasssse ask whoever made it where they got the recipe :) Very happy to hear that you had a nice thanksgiving too. Sounds like lots of fun with hide and seek.

jean- your tour sounds like it was amazing! To see wildlife and friends and family- a perfect day! BFF and I talked about this election yesterday and how awful it is. My nephew is thinking about going to college for poli sci/communicatiosn and apparently their dinners are filled with catching up on what was said/tweeted that day. Then she says how sad it is that this is what we have become. But laughter and lots of head shaking seems to be all that we can do. My hope (Disclosure in case you don't know: I am a 100% liberal) is that the Republican party as it stands today can implode. Then they can rebuild to become a true political party again. This country needs several parties that have serious thoughts on issues and will work together to make a more perfect union. This split we are experiencing now is not a democracy anymore and that makes me really sad for our future. :(
*climbs off soapbox*
I hate election seasons.... They make me say things that I shouldn't, but I can't seem to help myself.

On that note I am going to :tape: and get ready for food shopping ;)

good morning - I have lost control of my time. I like being retired with nothing on my agenda but since getting Luther I have had to give that up. I love Luther and I am not sorry but whew I am busy now with him besides the just normal stuff and it has really cut into my scrapping time. Yesterday morning I had to errands that took all morning and then in the evening we had a function to attend with my son and that took the whole evening. Now today I am off to the dog trainer in the morning. But the rest of the day should be free. Then tomorrow morning I have an eye doctor appt and in the afternoon Luther has a follow up on this cold. But the best news is that the NHL season starts tonight and my team starts tomorrow. We got home so late from that all I got to see only the end of the Giant Cubs game but they saved the best for last. Giants were winning 5-2 going into 9th and then the Cubs scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th and won the game and the series. The Giants and their fans were stunned. I completely understand been there with my team losing. I am glad for the Cubs who have not won in so many years.

Chris good thing you found the leaks as fast as you did and it saved a lot of damage. It must be nice to have a DH who can do that kind of home repair. So glad that you had such a nice coffee break! I think that we are all finding that connections with people are so important.

Trudy so glad that you had such a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Your dinner sounds scrumptious. And all the fun stuff you do sounds awesome.

Rae how special to have your Thanksgiving with Bailey and that it turned out so well. Funny that you still wanted turkey. I would be the same way.

Jean awesome tour.

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... quickly popping in here as I have my hike this morning and I still need to pack a snack and lunch. This hike takes us down to the ocean front to see the seals and migration of the salmon. I have never been to Dodds Narrows before, but my son tells me it is a beautiful spot where many sailboats come to see the wildlife. So funny that he has been there and I have not, I was raised on this Island and have so many places yet to see. As for the white chocolate pumpkin pie, well it came from a specialty chocolate store, so I don't know if I can get a recipe for you or not?? I will check it out though and see what I can find for you! :hungry:

Chris - So nice to hear that your coffee with your BFF was so good for you! It is important to connect with our friends! I hope that you will make it to your HS reunion, they are a lot of fun and so great to see old accquaintences again, such a blast from the past!! Thank goodness you found the leaks when you did! It could have turned into a much bigger messier job for both you and your Gary! Hooray for him being the handy man!! Hope you get your shopping done in a hurry without having to deal with the crowds!

Nancy - I totally understand about you missing your retirement time! It is so nice to be able to come and go whenever you want and not to have to worry about anyone else! I really am ready to get back to my alone time when the kids have been here for an extended period of time. I love them all dearly and enjoy my grands so much, but it is nice to have the peace and quiet again! At least for a while anyway! :becky: Hope that Luther is doing much better now and that the does well at the trainers! What a come back for the Cubs!! You must have been very happy!! :bliss:

Rae - Wow you are a busy, busy lady with your photography and dogs and medical transcription work!! I still don't know when you find the time to do all of the awesome pages that you make!! I am glad that you got to enjoy some Turkey, its not really Thanksgiving until you have had your fill of Turkey!! Yesterday I made turkey soup, and I will be making Turkey Pot Pie and already had my favourite left over meal of creamed turkey on rice YUM! I hope your day is not too hectic today!

Jean - What a great day of birding you had! How nice that you ran into friends that you know! That black throated Warbler looks beautiful and I bet he sings so pretty too!! Baseball will be getting exciting now for sure!!

Ok I best get dressed and get going, I will try to get some pics of todays hike and get a page made in the next few days!! Our last day of sunshine for a bit, huge storm moving in our way, actually looks like several storm fronts with a ton of rain and wind. Ugh my poor yard!! Oh well depending on which way the wind blows will determine the amount of clean up we will be doing. Hope you all have a fabulous day!

Good morning, ladies. This is the last nice day for a bit as a severe storm is on its way tonight and there are weather warnings for the next 3-4 days. Hope our power survives. It's kind of sad that this will probably be the last of the gorgeous fall color. I never got a chance to get out for a photo walk. I might pop out later this afternoon if my workload allows (that's pretty iffy though). I worked until 11:00 last night as a lot of backlog work came in yesterday which kept me really busy. I ate dinner at my desk and edited a few pics but then got right back to the transcription work. Whew. I'm looking forward to things slowing down a bit by the end of the week. Good thing I like my job and don't mind the extra work sometimes.

Chris - sounds like a great visit with your friend. Hope the bathroom painting goes quickly and you finish it up before getting too sore/stiff. Hope you can manage to go to both events but if you figure you can't handle both, it's best to listen to your common sense.

Nancy - I'm looking forward to retirement some day, it would be nice to have a quieter schedule but I'm not quite sure how that will feel LOL.

Trudy - sounds like a wonderful hike. My daughter and SIL found a spot along the water in North Van last month and spent a week visiting each day, sitting out on the rocks and swimming with the seals and they sunned themselves right on the rocks across from them. I would have loved to go but didn't trust myself to walk out among the rocks there. Have fun today! Enjoy the sunshine before it disappears for the rest of the week.

Off I go to start up my work computer and see what there is for today. It'll be busy but I think not quite as busy as yesterday. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

We've got the genealogy group at the senior center this afternoon then a PC computer group meeting this evening across town. That gives us a chance to eat somewhere different over there.

Chris, how nice things went with BFF! Hope painting and errands work out today.

Nancy, I know what you mean about retirement time. Mine's gotten hung up in group responsibilities and my own genealogy obsession.

Trudy, what a wonderful hike you're having! Look forward to the pix.

Rae, sure hope you get out this afternoon before the bad weather.

Have a good one!
