Woo hoo! I am slowly (too slowly IMO) starting to feel a bit better. I am not feeling like I am drowning in my own body so that is a start. Nor do I feel like I need a nap after being awake for 2 hours. baby steps :D

The weather is still making me miserable, cloudy and cool again. I am so glad that I brought down the box of shorts and bathing suits last week. ha!!

I made it through the supermarket ok, even if I still don't have much of an idea of what I am cooking. Tonight Cait and I are going to make avocado egg rolls since she will be here for dinner. The last 2 nights she has been babysitting and again tomorrow. I am really happy for her to be able to do that. She still has to go to the town's Rec Center to make sure her application/paperwork for the Summer Camp is all good to go.

Scott has been working non-stop at the Garden Center which is good since it will eventually slow down. He is very conscientious about banking most of his money. I wish I had money to bank
He is also making pinned insect shadowboxes and will be selling them on commission at the Garden Center. He has done two jewel beetles and a couple of butterflies so far. He was able to find them online, sourced from conservation-friendly shops. I ended up cleaning out my closet yesterday and found some leftover cardstock that he can use to mount them on in the frame. One half of my supply closet is now organized, but it the the Faery-Wings half that needs much more work and I am dreading that.

Today should be quiet here, nowhere I need to be other than the food pantry.

Hoping all of you have a wonderful day.
Send sun!

Nancy- aww how sweet that Luther wanted to check out the chihuahuas. He is such a sweetie!
Scott's throat has been hurting too and his lost his voice but doesn't seem to feel "ill" otherwise. Hope your son is better.
Squid ink pasta is so cool, I have made that in the distant past. Doesn't taste different, but it looks so dramatic. I bet it looked Instagram-worthy with the shrimp and peas.

Trudy- oh how lucky to feel so Zen!!!! I am trying really hard to ignore the news here. I can't ignore it but I am trying to not stress too much about this budget proposal. It will cut Social Security (Gary is on and is are sole income) Medicaid (both kids on) heating assistance (we are on)-- all in the name of "wanting to get people off of help." Oh, I mean Tax cuts for the rich. Don't they understand that the *vast* majority of us on assitance would give just about *anything* to be healthy enough to not need assistance? It kills me! I would LOVE to be able to work again.
Ah, shit... All of this builds in me, in case you haven't noticed- and I try to not worry out loud in front of the kids because then they worry. I don't think I have ever felt so insecure about our future even when Gray was first Dx's since we all thought he would get better. And we didn't know how sick I was too. Good times, man!! : pound:

ITA about Nancy's LOs -- amazing stuff and I was so excited to read her Q&A on Anna's blog. WTG Nancy!

OMG Rae!! That is terrible to hear about Darrell. No wonder he was so sick. Was he able to get home yesterday? What kind of recovery will he need besides being home? So scary and give him my best.
Poor Jen, how worried she must be. So nice that you are close and have each other to lean on.

Sending good, healing thoughts and less stress vibes~~~~~~

xoxo

good morning - well I know you all need the hockey update - so here goes - the Ottawa Senators defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins so there will be a game 7 on Thursday night to see which team goes to the Cup Final. Every pundit was shocked - none gave the Sens a chance. Anderson the goalie for the Sens gave up just one goal. Game 7s are so fun as you just never know which way the game will go. My son is much better must have been allergies. He is back at work. But yesterday we watched the movie Hidden Figures. The thing he was most shocked by was the segregation. I mean he had heard about separate drinking fountains and bathrooms but he had no idea that people would take it as far as separate coffee pots. He was totally shocked that an appliance store would have a colored TV side to watch the launches and recoveries. The thing I most wanted him to get was just how much further our nation and world would be if we all just worked together. Got a bit of scrapping done.

Chris so glad you are feeling better! The egg rolls sound yummy. It will be fun working with Cait. How great that Scott is so busy and love the idea of his creating those shadow boxes. Thanks for the nice comment about the Q&A. Anna's team does a great job.

Trudy so glad you have found the perfect place to scrap. It makes a world of difference to scrap happy. Cant wait to go to the gallery and see you new pages. Are hiking today?

Rae so so sorry to hear about Darrell. Sending hugs. Hope he was released and now hope he takes the full time to recover. One of my friend's SIL has the same problems and has had multiple surgeries. Glad you have Jenn to help you!

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... getting ready for my hike this morning, it will be through an old growth forest, so we should see some amazing big trees! A sunny day, but after the big wind storm yesterday afternoon, it is considerably cooler than the past few days! Great for hiking though! My neck has been bothering me for the past few days, not sure if I need a different pillow or what, but so stiff and sore when I get up! Then sitting at the computer does not help it at all :mmph: I have a coupon for a massage that I have to use before July, so now might be a great time to get that!

Chris - Glad you are feeling a bit better today! Sorry that the weather is still not great for you, I wonder if summer will ever really arrive?? Good for Scott for being so great at saving his money, too bad that he has had the rotten cold, Heather had that one too and lost her voice, but really did not feel all that bad. Heather says that too, that she would do anything to be healthy enough to be going to a job everyday and not be on assistance! Try as she might to get any kind of job, it just never works out for her. Why don't they understand (the gov't) that they should be targeting the ones that take advantage of the system, they are the ones that are ruining it all for the ones who truly need the help!! I am so sick of the help that they are giving to the drug addicts and the people who choose to be homeless. There are lots of those out here, they don't want to live anywhere else but the street, or in tents because they have to follow rules. Ok I better shut up before I say something I regret!! :tape: LOL. What a great idea for Scott to sell those shadow boxes! I hope he does a good business with them! Sounds like he is crafty like his Momma!!

Nancy - Read your interview yesterday too, you rock girlfriend!! What a great article and wow I just love the pages that were shown on the blog, how did I not see those before?? Glad that your son is feeling better and is back to work! Yes hidden figures was a great show and it really made you remember just how bad things were back then for segregation ! How true that we would all be better off just working together! Yes I am hiking today and hoping that this will help to get rid of my stiff neck!!

Rae - Oh my goodness, your poor Darrell!! I hope that he is doing much better today and is able to be at home again! No worries on the trip to Butchart Gardens, we can go anytime, no matter what the season it is always beautiful there. You have to take care of things at home first!! Scary moment for Jen, but hopefully she did not get any ill effects from the Chicken!! :fear: Hope your workload is light today!!

Alright ladies I have to get going and make my bed, empty the dishwasher and get my backpack all ready for the hike. I hope you all have an amazing day!!

Good morning, ladies. Got Darrell home last night and spent over an hour waiting at the pharmacy for his prescriptions. They couldn't read the Emerg doctor's name and wouldn't fill it without confirmation from the hospital which took forever. By the time we got home we were both exhausted. We ate, watched a bit of TV and I was in bed at 10. Took Taz to daycare this morning and will have to work hard today as I was gone for 4 hours yesterday. Darrell says he is feeling ok, just can't move around too much yet. He'll be off work for 7-14 days. I'll make up a batch of spaghetti sauce later for his dinner and freeze the rest and I am going to have some with fried mushrooms. I haven't had any for a week, wanting to see how my nose/sinuses feel without eating them and then today and tomorrow I will eat lots and see how I feel. I have mold allergies and read that people with mold allergies shouldn't eat mushrooms, so I'm testing to see how I react to them. If there is little or no difference then I can still eat them. It'll be interesting to see if they do effect me as I've never gone a week without them before so have no idea if i do react or not. My sinuses bother me so much I try to ignore it usually.

Chris - try not to stress about what is not certain. I know its not easy but try.

Nancy - glad your son is feeling better. I haven't seen Hidden Figures. Will have to look that one up. I have a hard time watching movies about prejudism and segretation though so not sure I could watch it. I get really sad with the injustice of it all.

It's a beautiful day and not as hot as yesterday. I bet Trudy will be out on a glorious hike today.

I'm getting to work now, have to make the most of my time to try to catch up. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Hi all...long day. I accompanied my DH on a work trip to Madison, Mississippi (3 hrs away) He had a meeting and a site visit. As it turns out, we lived there (it's just north of the capital Jackson) for 1 1/2 years from 1998-2000. We really enjoyed our time there- there was a great public school, I loved my job, the girls played soccer and we had a great time. It was fun to go back and see how the area had grown in 17 years (I got so lost!!) and just drive around. It was a 12 hr day so I am tired.
