The meteorologists have the forecasts kind of mixed up. it was supposed to rain a lot yesterday/night and more again today. Since it hadn't and isn't yet, I am a little concerned about my plants. It drizzled overnight but was not a good soaking. The sun is shining bright today too. The weather maps seem to have most of the rain staying south of us. Who would ever imagine that I would be wishing for rain? LOL!

I was supposed to be cleaning for my friend today but can't since now it's her DD#2's turn to have Covid. That is three times in the last two months that I haven't been there b/c of the C-Word hehe
My dad's surgery is all set for today - he has to be at the hospital at 11 am and he should be home by tomorrow night. When I talked to him yesterday, I asked how loudly he needed me to yell into the phone, but he was able to hear better. He saw the specialist the other day who told him it is all due to the Meniere's and he might have his hearing come and go for a while. But-- the good news is the specialist said that a hearing aid on that ear might work (he is deaf in the other ear for a different reason, that must be the one that the aids won't help him). Once he is able to get out and about, the Dr wants him to come back to see what they can with that.
Other than picking up my groceries I don't have too much to do-- other than get ready for the party! I cannot get over the fact that Oscraps is 16! Almost one-third of my life has been here and with Vicki and her freebie blog before the O was official. (yes there is some rounding going on it is pretty darn wild however you slice it.

Big hugs to you all!

@tanteva It is funny how I recognize a lot of the stuff in ST from the 80's (I graduated HS in 86) but the Kate Bush song-- not even a flicker of recognition. Then I realized that in *my* version of the 80s I was listening to the local college radio station that played heavy metal, so if was Metallica or Ozzy- I would know it :D
It is cute to see some of the representations of that era, esp thinking of it as "vintage." hahaha!!
I hope that your trip to Stockholm is fun and informative and not too tiring.

@bcgal00 So exciting to get the new countertops! How do they look? Hope you had a nice walk and got to see the loons, did you hear them at least?

@BrightEyes Great timing to have grandson get the AC ready for you, stay cool and hydrated.
I love all of the HP movies and books. Every couple of years the four of us rewatch all of them together. Protip: Have tissues handy for the last one

@taxed4ever That sounds like me, take all day to work on a layout and still need finishing touches.
How did the boys do, are they back in school and feeling better? I can't believe that Hunter will be 5.
I usually pull off the brown petals from the azalea because it does look terrible- like a clumpy brown coat- but never on the Rhodo. I should see if that helps.

@Cherylndesigns you are gonna be one tired Cici in two weeks if you aren't already. Tired but happy. Good luck getting it all done, but if anyone can, it is you

@LSlycord Dorms sure aren't like they used to be! :D Syd's dorm sounds fantastic, fingers are crossed fr a good roommate assignment.

Morning, all. Didn't sleep well last night and ended up getting up at 3:30 AM as I couldn't go back to sleep. Finally got the estimate for the yard clean-up late yesterday. WOW... lots of $$$ for it but it does have the removal of 2 trees, a large plant and 3 trees in the large pot in front plus repair of the sprinkler system. It was quite a bit higher than I had expected so I have a couple of questions for them before giving the go-ahead. I have decided to not put any more trees in the back where they will remove the trees. I have a huge plum tree and a med peach tree there already so think I will get some small shrubs to fill the 3 spots. And that means a trip to the nursery to find them ASAP. I refused to drink coffee that early in the morning so just put a pot on now that the sun is up.

Good Morning ladies... I am headed out right away for our hike today and the sun is actually shining right now, Hooray!! The forecast was for cloud all day long, but I am glad that the weather man so far is wrong! It will be a tough hike today and approx. 10 klm. lots of up and downs so hiking poles will be our friend today. Will bring my deep woods OFF for the bugs and ticks, hopefully we don't see much of either. So just wanted to pop in and say hello before I go wandering in the woods. I hope you all have a fabulous day and I will catch up with you all tomorrow.

Good morning everyone. Didn't sleep much last night but watched some shows and kept dozing off. Feeling a bit tired this morning but that is what coffee is for, thank goodness for caffeine. Today the pool guy is supposed to come so D can learn how to properly maintain it and we'll find out what things might need replacing. We'll buy all new chemical too b/c we don't know how old the stuff is in the shed and how effective it is. Jen's countertops look really good. She's happy. Got two prints hung on the wall, then I dropped a frame and broke it apart so D superglued it together and we'll see today if it holds together. I hung a frame upstairs with three flower photos that look good just outside the bedroom door. I had a setback yesterday with photos, lightroom glitched and I could not get it to recognize any photos. I tried everything and then eventually had to erase the catalog and now am reloading everything. So it'll be at least 2-3 more days before my photos are back in there. I took a lot yesterday at the pond. I had so much fun watching the baby loon coots. They are so ugly they are cute LOL. I saw at least 4 families and got to see them being fed by their moms. I got photos but even with my big lens it was hard to get good ones, they were usually far away or came close to shore but were hidden in the reeds. I got some I'm happy with though and the best part was just seeing them, watching them.

It's a beautiful warm sunny day. I'll get out to the dog park later before dinner when it cools down a bit. Caught up on Girl From Plainville and the finale is tomorrow night. Tonight we'll finish up Flight Attendant maybe.

@faerywings Good luck with your dad's surgery and also for help with his hearing soon. Jen plays Kate Bush a lot, she remembers it from her childhood, when I would play it constantly. I love that they are playing it in ST. Many years ago a British friend introduced me to her music before it was played in North America much, so I was a fan for a long time. Wuthering Heights gives me chills. Man With The Child in his Eyes was written when she was 13. She fascinated me, her music was not mainstream and was so different from what I was listening to at the time. She is one of my top five all time faves.

@BrightEyes Me too, didn't sleep much last night. Sorry to hear the estimate is higher than expected. Everything seems to be so much more expensive now. I'm dreading the cost of our landscaping and driveway repaving later this year (hopefully). Right now we can't even find anyone to come out.

@taxed4ever Enjoy your hike today.

I'm getting more coffee and going to check on LR photo loading. Hopefully it is time to get another batch set up to import.

Well, I used half of my lunch hour signing up for a Medicare Supplement policy. That, of course, made me cranky. They quoted me a policy for Vision/Dental/Hearing. They would pay 60% but only up to $1000. It would cost about $480 for premiums. I decided against that. I don't sign up for Medicare itself until July. And they will talk to me about Part D (drug coverage) later. The whole thing is a pretty sad state of affairs.

Good afternoon ladies,

I'm so tired today - we stayed up pretty late and slept until 11! I couldn't believe what time it was. With these black out curtains, it always looks like the middle of the night. It's dark and raining again today. They've permanently moved Asher's camp to 6:30 to 8:00 and yesterday afternoon, it got beautiful. I guess this is how it's going to be for a few days.
Chris @faerywings hope your dad's surgery goes well. I'm sending hugs to him and all of you.

I'm going to go and check the boards - I'm trying to keep my head above water.

XOXO

Linda, it's SO complicated - all the "parts". I remember when I had to figure all of that our for my dad. GM had just stopped taking care of all that (we had always been so spoiled) and they just dumped it in everybody's laps. We went to a big seminar where they were supposed to explain it all and I'll never forget all those really elderly people coming in walkers and wheelchairs - I was SO angry that they did that!! Everybody was clueless. I did so much research that year, my head was literally spinning.

This might help - if you don't want to pay out-of-pocket - AARP supplement is the best in Florida. My dd is a medical assistant and has a degree in "front office management" which includes insurance billing. I'm asking her to verify this - just texted her. I'll let you know.

Linda @LSlycord Steph said to tell you that Medicare is ALWAYS your "primary" and AARP is the best supplemental insurance! Dental isn't covered under much of anything - you have to get that separately, which you're already looking into. It really sucks that dental isn't included!! Does this make sense? Steph lives in Florida, BTW.
