Good morning and Happy Hump Day! We are off to a beautiful start to the day. it is going to get hot and humid with some big T-storms this afternoon. I am not feeling too crummy considering I woke up before 2 am and it took a couple of hours to get back to sleep. And of course, this morning of all mornings I had my alarm set for 6 am. Caitlyn and I are baking another batch of the Christmas cookies and we want to do that before it gets too hot. The butter and cream cheese need to soften a bit and I am sure she doesn't want to stick them in her waistband like she has in the past. *wink*

Yesterday would have been a good day to do this since it was so cold. Even with the oven on for 2 1/2 hours, my house never got over 68*. I had gotten a whole chicken from the FP and had to gag my way through preparing it. :puke: Thank goodness that it takes so long to cook which gives me time to forget about that part.
I didn't too much else yesterday, dusted the LR/kitchen a bit, laundry. Same old, same old.

This morning I will be baking Christmas cookies and this afternoon I plan to be out in the dirt. That is gonna feel weird! LOL

Gratitudes:
-baking and eating cookies
-yup, that is it, it is good enough!

Nancy- it drizzled a tiny bit here but didn't rain until overnight. How did DH do getting in and out of the city? I hope that he was far enough out of the way of the protests although it sounded like they were peaceful until after the curfew.
Sorry that this image is so big- but this is what three rats do post-surgery I guess? I don't understand how they can and want to squeeze together like that! Haha!!

Kay- 1" of rain is a lot but if you need it, you need it!
I am 100% jealous of your day. Books and money and fresh produce and to top it off, apple crisp! Perfection!
Gary took the video of the raccoon but no photos. Caitlyn was trying to get pics but had caught a faceful of smoke right before and was coughing her head off.
Jiffy Pop is one of those things that bring back great memories, even when that includes burning your hand on the holder. Hah!! After all these years why haven't they figured out how to coat it in silicone or something?

Trudy-Oh wow, that is fab to hear that the kitchen will be done soon! Did you ever decide what to paint the island? I bet you are going to want to get lots of new items when it is done. Have a great time shopping.
Oh no, that is such a bummer about the gift. I am sure that Mason is not going to think he is being shortchanged by you. You love him and he knows it.

jean- I hope the next few days of heat don't hit you too hard. How neat to have such a long genealogy meeting, bet you got lots accomplished and discussed.
Caitlyn said that she will not burn the socks but will most definitely sage them. Maybe all of the bad that has happened since 01/01/20 will go away as soon as she does.

Feli- I am happy for you for being back to work and it is a good thing that it is going to start back slowly. Stay safe!
Could you imagine rats with tiny e-collars? How cute but miserable they would be. The stitches are covered in glue so they can't get directly at them. Caitlyn has tried to cover them by making little sweaters out of old socks (not the cursed NY's socks although I am not sure if that would be good or bad ;) ). That doesn't go well either. After a day, they don't seem to even notice the glue or stitches. Right now they look worse than it is. I think she is going to put them back into their big cage very soon.
Scott had to set up a night camera a couple of years ago at the garden center where he was working because people were vandalizing the water drip lines. One night a raccoon came right up to the camera and stared at it and that was hilarious. I think that is what they are hoping to see.

better get going, I need to wake Cait up in a few.

good morning - wow we had thunderstorms all night - I am tired and then this afternoon we are to get more storms. I have to say as tired as I am the lightning was pretty cool. But Luther too did not like them. Had a good dinner and then walked Luther in the evening. It was gorgeous. We found two new born fawns - well we did not Luther did but he did not get close. They were so sweet looking. My DH had to go into work again. There are just some things that cant be done online. He drives in and parks in a private garage connect to his building so he is fairly safe. Read another CJ Box book so got no scrapping done. Hope to scrap today.

Chris have fun baking cookies! And then have fun in the dirt. My rhododendrons are finally starting to bloom. I saw the buds but was not sure they were ever going to open. Some many other rhododendrons bushes in other yards were already in full bloom. But now I am happy. I cannot see your photo but I am sure its cute.

Trudy wow congrats on being so near completion on the kitchen redo. How funny about the hike. I still get my days mixed up. It must feel so good to be near end.

Kay that apple crisp sound delish. Glad you got your errands got done. How fun to have rain and wow an inch is a lot. And it smells so good.

Jean what are you thinking about the Genetic Detective. I like that it is not all about her but they bring in the police departments where the cases happen and explain how well they did but just that technologies were not available. And yes I will enjoy the heat LOL.

Morning ladies... late getting in here again today. Had a very nice face time with Hunter and Mason this morning. Hunter took me outside and we went for a ride on his tricycle. LOL it was so cute whenever we went of a bit of a bump he would yell WEEEEEEE!! God I love those boys! Then Mason took me into his room and showed me all the things that he has been building for his pet turtle that he is hoping to get for his birthday. He will be one disappointed boy if the turtle does not show up  I have already got the sanding and a coat of primer on the cupboards that I am working on today. Only two more to go, but they are the ones with the glass and I am still trying to decide if I should be painting the entire inside of those cupboards white or leave them as is. Hmmmmm!! The baseboards and around the wall oven will have to wait until this weekend when DH can pull the oven out far enough to paint around it. Then it will be complete!! Well unless I convince DH that new back splash would look great!! LOL. I got a page scrapped yesterday, but I think I want to add just a few more things to it, so I will try to do that today.

Chris - Why are you baking Christmas cookies in June?? Is it just that you like this certain type of cookie?? I wish I could see the photo that you posted, but it is not showing up for some reason :noidea: Oh and we have decided to just paint the entire Island white, darn that is something I forgot all about so now I need to get that finished too LOL. Maybe I will start working on that today also. Heather managed to find something else for me to get for Mason for his birthday and Jonah has already picked it up, so Hooray I won't feel so guilty now! Sure hope you get to be out in the dirt for a bit today! I need to get out there too and take all the dead blossoms off of the Rhodos and Azaleas. Wish they lasted longer!

Jean - How fun to have such a long chat session with the group! I bet it really made the day fly by! You are looking forward to my before and after photos, I am looking forward to finally being finished with it! LOL. Yes I am getting excited to finally be back to hiking and seeing my fellow hikers again! Wondering where they will choose to hike so that we will be socially distant from one another.

Nancy - Heather was saying that they had thunder storms all night long too! Sorry that it interrupted your sleep and Luther's too! How lovely to come across the two new born fawns, what a good boy Luther is for not getting too close! Glad to hear that your DH is pretty safe when he goes to work, such a worry! Yes I am happy to be back to hiking soon, but think I am looking forward to seeing my hairdresser even more LOL.

Felis - Yay for getting back to work! Hope that you don't start disliking it soon LOL. Hey we wouldn't be human if we didn't have something to complain about though right?? Yes I was happy that Heather found something else for a gift for Mason and there is one thing that I ordered that will not be there in time for his birthday, but should arrive shortly afterward. He will have an extended birthday, which is always fun!

Ok I hope to get my page uploaded soon to the gallery and then more of the same old stuff for the rest of the day! I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Good morning girls!
The first harvest from radish for my dad. And we had lovely salad by radish, tomatoes and cabbage for dinner. I really love radish, and it is so satisfying to grow your own veggies, so it's a little bit naive, but I'm very proud with daddy's results!
Like Nancy I also wanted to scrap, but I'm so much into the book, that couldn't force myself to left it. I was afraid that The Austen Project can turn in a disaster, as modern version of classic is often lose most of the charm of the original. But I started with "Emma", which is my favorite from Jane's books, and I love this variant too! I'm read it in quite a long time ago, so to not remember everything, but they are changed only the interior, the characters are similar. But without annoying copy/paste as in the awful adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"! I'm shocked how many of the conversations in "Emma" sounds as something that I've told you before here when we are discussed marriage, and start wondering how deep is been Austen impact on my notion.

Chris, thank you so much about the post-surgery explanation! The stitches are covered in glue, hmm, this is something I'll have to ask more detailed on my next visit. No one here deal with rats, unfortunately, but guinea pigs and kittens often shared similar procedures.
I can not see any photo too?!
Hope you had your dirt therapy! I procrastinated until it's get to raining and then I had no choice except to continued to reading LOL!

Nancy, OMG, I love fawns (I had to check did that's mean something like deer or is bird, no, it is like deer, so yes I love them LOL)! This is such a good sign, as in pagan tradition stag is a symbol of one of the gods. OK it is obviously that christians don't jump every time when see fish, saying 'see sign from God', but this is totaly their problem! I'm very superstitious and obsessed by signs.
So relief to hear that your husband have safe working environment! People get bored and start to ignore COVID too fast.

Trudy, so nice that Heather have backup option! This girl is so smart! And extended birthday is funny, indeed. The boys' virtual tour for you sounds so cute! I love these stories!
