Loookitttttt!! ^^^^^ Two more days left in Jan?? Gah!
But that is good news, b/c that means we are getting closer to March and then spring!!!

Here's to hoping we don't blow away in the March-like weather. 57*, Thunderstorms and wind gusts around 50mph. Trees, stand firm, please!!!

I didn't have to work yesterday, and I decided that I wasn't going to go food shopping until Thursday. I love no work days. Not having to rush around, heaven!

I cleaned some more of my house, did the steam cleaning of the carpets. You would not believe all of the soap and foam coming out of them. Then I worked on scanning some more negatives of my mom's childhood. plus a couple from my childhood. Gary took a my college graduation portrait and then a photo of cait in the same pose and photoshopped them. He placed them up so our features were lined up then he messed around with the opacity so her features would come out as mine disappeared. OMG, she is my twin!!!! Or at least the 23 yo version of me!!! It was really mind-blowing to see how are features are almost identical. Just the hair is very different. Its a good thing, b/c I think Cait is a knockout, so that makes me (ok, the 23 yo me.... hhhmmph) a knockout too. LOL

Off to MIL's today to clean. Hopefully no flooding of the roads as I drive home.

WWW
I wish my car could have some cool all-weather Batmobile type functions. Skis could pop out when it snows, and oars for when it rains. Oh! And those "raise ya up wheels" to roll over traffic! What that Dunebuggy that did that??

Nana, how did you sleep last night? Any better? And how is your head!!!??? Please go to the dr if the headaches keep coming.

Little scientific tidbit about time going faster as you get older. I wish I could remember it all but time/events do go faster as you get older because of the proportionality of time you experience. IOW, a five yo only have 5 years worth of experience so say, Christmas would be a larger percentage of experience. For us, one Christmas is "time-diluted" since we have so much more experiences.
Scott explained it all to me and it made so much sense, but I am sure I am wrecking the concept in my explanation! LOL

Phyllis- did you have any luck with your printer? I thoughtof you the other day was I was a Bed,Bath and Beyond with my friend. They have mini-personal humidifiers, I guess that you could keep on your desk or whatnot. Hang it aounnd your neck and take it with you wherever you go. :D

Hi Linda!!!!!! Maui is getting closer and closer! What time should I meet you at the airport? Do you have a suitcase big enough for me or should I bring my own?

Thanks for all of the tips-- lots ,ore water and fiber...... I really tried to do that yesterday. The beans I made were yummy, (I surprised myself how good they were!) and I had a big salad too.

Nancy- do you have a recipe for that stroganoff? I wonder if my kids would eat it if I made it with turkey? Nah,. Cait won't eat turkey.. grrr... Well she can have a sandwich then.

Terry.... 90*? YOu just can't stop rubbing it in! hahahah!!! The temp changes are really crazy though and ITA- great way for everyone to get sick. Were you able to get golf and dinner all taken care of? Hope so!

Trudy- good for you for hitting the treadmill! I can't wait for taking walks again too, me and my puppy.
The beans were actually pretty easy. I just have to remember to plan ahead to soak them. I simmered them with onion, garlic, carrots, herbs and celery. Took out all of the veggies and made a garlic and herb brown butter sauce to go over them.I was expecting bland, and these were not bland at all.

Time to fly!

I remember Speed Buggy....Thanks for the explanation Chris on time and getting old :pound: Really...I get it and it does make sense.

Well....Mike isn't getting better...he is well enough that he is not flat on his back but he is still coughing...wheezing and feels like crap...I called the Doc yesterday...he called in MORE abx and steroids and an inhaler.... I hope he gets better soon, because he is now at the point of being pissed off over it and acting like a kid throwing tantrums now!!

I slept like a baby last night...and no headache...I think the headaches are just sinus stuff...

Did not get to go the mall with my Mom...school called and Jesse was not feeling good..he threw up...as soon as he got to school...so I picked him up...he was really quiet all day but felt fine...never threw up again....but last night he had a fever when he went to bed...no fever this morning, but his stomach hurts again...so I am keeping him home again.

My internet has been going out intermittently and yesterday it was FREQUENTLY...it did this last year and they had to fix something....so they are coming again today..they say it's something in our line....my time line that they will be here is between 8am and 8pm....WTH??? uugghhh...not that I plan on going anywhere...but really????

CHRIS....MIRALAX (I buy the walmart brand)....it works awesome for me...I flair up (2nd pregnancy gave me the damn things and they are aweful) and I do lots of water, fiber and all the good stuff...but once I use the Miralax, I am much better...it also is so much better than any of the other products...no pain, no cramps, very gentle but effective!!!

Chris. i bought TWO of those little humidifiers. i trierd to keep one in my car, where the humidity reads 16% most of the time in winter, but it really didn't make a dent inside the car, if the heat was on even a little bit. i just bought a little humidifier on Amazon that fits in your cup holder in the car. let's see if that works. i was really suffering on the drive to D.C. i felt like my BRAIN was dried out. i made a page a while back doing that overlay thing with a photo of me and my son, who i used to think looked NOTHING like me. it was totally weird!! he DOES look like me! re: the printer: it had a miraculous healing, (at least for yesterday,) without me doing anything. bizarre.

we're supposed to get that weird weather today, too, Chris and laurie. it's 62 degrees right now, which is strange in itself. then we do the high winds and thunder and lightning thing. i'll probably stay home again and clean house. i have piles of things lying around everywhere, while i try to figure out WHERE to put them away. some may find themselves in the circular file....

hope your day turns out to be more exciting than mine is shaping up to be. i vote we all go to Terry's house and have a cookout in the great weather!! then we stay there until it's time to fly to Maui with Linda! (of course, someone wll have to render me unconscious before putting me on the plane....)

I'm beginning to feel like Nana and Phyllis. Went to bed at 11. woke up at 1:30. Tossed and turned and finally got up at 2:30. It was so quiet in the house--great for scrapping. Finished a couple of LO's for the CT.

Managed to get 9 holes of golf in yesterday afternoon. My golfing buddy is leaving Friday for a month! Must be nice to be retired. Guess I'll have to golf with the big guns (hubby and his crew) for a month. Had dinner with some friends that were in town and then we stopped in at the varsity basketball game. The game was terrible---I should have stayed home!

Guess I'll work some this morning and will probably crater by noon or so.

Nana--sorry your hubby isn't really getting much better. I wonder why they just don't put him in the hospital and give him heavy duty IV meds to get him well. Feeling sorry for you! Nothing like a sick man throwing a temper tantrum.

Phyllis--come on over. I'll fire up the grill! Although, we had a front come through and it is only supposed to be about 65 today.

Chris-if you find one of those bat mobiles, let me know where you found it. Sure could use one---just to go over the traffic when I'm in the city.

Guess I better get to work. Want to get all the stuff prepared for my meeting tomorrow with the partners in the group before I crater. I just might fall asleep at the desk!

Heading out of town tomorrow for work. will be back on Friday afternoon. This out of town stuff is getting tiresome.

Taking it nice and slow this morning. Although we had 50's over the weekend, we now have schools closed due to snow and ice. Got to love Iowa! I'm just glad that it is today instead of a week from today when it could have a negative impact on my travel plans!

I could make it to work (which is open) but daycare closes when the schools close. I thought about going in for the morning but the commute would take longer and I would need to be back out here by 11 so Brian could go to work. He doesn't have the extra vacation time that I have so Maui is draining his PTO account. I really don't mind...the extra work has used up so much of my life recently that I haven't had the time to spend scrapping that I like! So, I am planning to have a great day of doing nothing today!

Chris, I'm glad that you had a productive day at home yesterday. LOL Did you notice the lack of similarities between our plans for a day at home? I'm not cleaning carpets or anything else. I'm playing today. Have a good time at your MIL's.

And, by the way, I always think that you and Cait look alike...and you are both knockouts!

Laurie...you are an amazing woman...for many reasons but especially your commitment to your exercise routine!

Linda, sick kids are never good! And when one of them is your husband, even worse. Hope that your day is good and not consumed with taking care of everyone else.

Phylis, I agree...a trip to Terry's for a cookout before we all head to Maui sounds perfect. I'll be anxious to hear if the car humidifier works. The dryness has just been awful this winter. We finally broke down and had a humidifier installed on our furnace and it has really helped.

Terry, golf, dinner and basketball sounds like a pretty good day to me! Especially in the warm weather! Enjoy your half day of work today. And retirement does sound fabulous. However, even with Chris' explanation of why time flies for me, I think it seems like retirement is a ways off!

Ok, off to the gallery!

good am! It is total fog this morning. Warm temps. Got a great walk in yesterday. Love being able to be outside. Squirrels made a come back at my bird feeders yesterday so it must be warmer. Devils lost to Boston in a shoot out. Great game though. Had the strangest dream - I was incased in ice. LOL think I am watching too much hockey! LOL

Chris here is the link to the recipe http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/food/recipes/chipotle-stroganoff/

JustJen cant believe it has been 6 weeks already! Too cold for me.

Linda sick boys or men are the worst! But I do hope he gets well soon - my DH coughed and wheezed one winter only to go to the doctor and find out it was walking pneumonia
and a partially collapsed lung.

Have a great day all!

Morning "O" friends... foggy here again today, it feels so weird when its so foggy, like being in a bad horror flick!! Day off today and I plan on doing lots of scrapping today, might not be able to post them for a couple of days, but at least I will try to get some done! Also taking a special cake over to MG's work place, it is his official last day of being a Mountie, after 35 years. I think it is bothering me more than it is him!! I feel sad for him! He loved his job so very much, but he keeps telling me that it was time for him to leave and he was ready. I ordered a Shabrack for him also here is a link so you can see what it is http://mountedpoliceart.ca/rcmp-art/rcmp-shabrack. The guys that he was working with are helping me pay for it, so that's really nice!! Hoping to have a party for him in the Spring when the transfers for some of the other guys come out. MG did not want a party just for him, he hates being the centre of attention. Ya right!!! LOL.

Chris - Hope all the tips help you out and you are pain free soon!! Say hi to your MIL for all of us here at the "O"!! Sounds like you had a busy day at home, bet you were glad to get your carpets all done! I will have to try those beans they sound yummy!! Let me know what time you will be at the airport to meet LindaS and I will be there with my suitcase too!! LOL I do remember that dune buggy !! I also always thought that you and Cait looked so much alike!! Both beauties!!!

Laurie - Thunder Storms?? Wow what crazy weather! Have a great day!

Nana Linda - sorry that your man is not getting any better and now you have Jesse at home too!! Darn flu and cold bugs!!! Glad to hear that you slept like a baby last night! Phylis and I were worried about you!! We are like old mother hens!! :becky: Nice timeline that they gave you for fixing your internet problems!! What do they think?? That everyone should just stay at home for them all day long?? :frusty: Hope they come early for you!

Phylis - I like your idea of going to Terry's until its time to meet up with LindaS!! I will bring you lots of wine or rum and you will be so buzzed that you won't know you are on a plane :becky: or I could hit you over the head with a fish to get you on board!! :fish: , just kidding :boink:

Terry - Sorry about the bad sleep last night, its so frustrating when you can't get back to dreamland!! Hope you don't fall asleep at your desk, it leaves funny marks all over your face when that happens LOL.

LindaS - You day sounds like a bit of alright to me!! Have fun scrapping the day away!! Wouldn't you be shocked if we all showed up at the airport with our bags all packed ready to join you on your vacation !!! :faint: :becky: Enjoy the day my friend!!

Jen - I don't think its me you want to take exercise advice from !! I am hit and miss with the treadmill and prefer to get outside to do my walking, but it waaaaayyyy to cold out for you to do that these days! brrrrrr!!!! Hope your temps improve!! You should get Laurie to tell you what she does for her routine, she never misses a day, well hardly ever, she is our hero!

Nancy- Incased in ice?? Hmmmm, I think you have hockey on the brain!! Sorry your devils lost to my Bruins... well not really :becky: Did not get to watch it though, they don't show it on our channels, we really have to change our package!! We have to watch all the Canuck games.... I can't stand the Canuks!! Yes I know I live near Vancouver, but we are not Canuck fans, or Montreal Canadian fans or Toronto Maple Leaf fans!! Its the Bruins for us.... go Big "B"'s!! LOL

Well off to do my least favourite job of the day... cleaning the toilets Uggghh!! Enjoy your day everyone! Be creative!!

I got lucky and the internet guy not only came early...I have called him back twice and he has been back TWICE!! :becky:

I went completely out after he "FIXED" it :pound: but he is really nice!!! It's still not fixed..but he knows what to do ...so until they get it fixed completely, I will still have intermittent internet outages.

Well....the Man Child is downstairs sleeping in the den...haven't heard a peep from him in two hours....the Boy Child is feeling JUST FINE now....he slept until about 9:30 and got up and ate some....he seems to feel pretty good...he had a little fever when he got up, but other than that, just fine....oh well...

ME....Laundry!!! I do a lot of laundry....just can't believe it and on top of it...for the last two months...I have been doing Sharon's laundry as well....she pays me though...not a lot...but it helps keep some of her work down, she has so much to deal with, with Savannah....so she pays me $50 a month....gives me a little cash, and helps her out a lot!! It definitely pays for all the laundry supplies for both of us. Am I nuts....or what??

Alrighty....better run.....

Trudy, if this is MG's last day, then I think that the two of you should definitely get that vacation going to someplace tropical!

Terry, you should have called! i was up from 2:30 until around 4:30....
Nancy, LOL about the encased in ice dream! too much hockey!
Trudy, maybe it will hit your MG in a few weeks AFTER he retires. that's what happened to my dad. he was happy about it, then he got sad! i like the tropical vacation idea!
Nana, i'm doing laundry all day, too. it's a good day for it. it's pouring rain at the moment.
Linda, we actually HAVE a furnace humidifier installed, but i still had to run an extra portable humidifier in the house to get the humidity up over 50%. i'll let you know about the car thing.
Jen -19! yikes!
