Good morning, O-Fam!

It's back to freezing cold and below zero real-feel temperatures again. It felt comparatively "warm" on Monday without the wind, but it's brutal out there right now. I am consoling myself that it was not pitch dark while I was cooking dinner. My kitchen window looks out over the backyard and into the woods behind my house. I can see the sunset from there. It was pretty last night. I can't wait for spring, but I am getting concerned about our lack of snow again. We should have more snowfall and it's back to being very dry. Well, there is still plenty of time for snow and cold weather to make me unhappy, it is only the middle of January. Although that said, how is it the middle of January *already??*

Yesterday was a repeat of Monday. Flitting about, not getting much done other than some small things here and there. I still didn't make an appt with a dentist. In fact, I still have to find one in my plan and then see if they are accepting new patients.
I am cleaning for my friend this afternoon. It's been a month since I was there last. He had been sick for weeks, then the holidays came, and then he was sick again. After I get home, I will tidy up here, and Scott and Sam are coming for dinner. They haven't been over for dinner in a while so that will be fun.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today!

@LaurieW You must be so excited to have the grands coming this weekend! Besides painting a Santa ornament, do you have other exciting plans?
I would imagine that the house will sell quickly. Houses in my area are selling over asking in days. Some of the ones that Cait and Tom looked at were scary, and yet still sold in bidding wars.
Good luck to DH when it is "live."

@vickyday I know that some people use Bridge but I haven't been able to find anything else to organize my digi-kits that works for me other than ACDSee. I even use it for the PDFs I have collected for the homeschool curriculum. I add keywords to the metadata and can scan through/search for those files.

Time to deal with the dogs, I'm posting this and BRB!

Dogs are fed, and in less than a minute, I'll need to let J outside. It's like having babies, always demanding attention. :rotfl:

Vicky, how is your back? That's awful that you pulled something from coughing so hard. :(
Might have been a blessing in disguise that there was no widows meeting, so you were able to rest your back.

@BrightEyes I saw the moon yesterday morning through the trees, it was very bright!
Did you have a blast at your ladies' lunch? (of course, you did, you always do!)

@taxed4ever Sure, make me feel guilty that I still have to make an appt with a dentist. LOL
Good thoughts for the hike today. Go easy and you got this! I know when I hit a harder section, I keep going and then it doesn't seem so bad after. Bring extra snacks and water too.
Does All Trails or CalTopo have trail info for Canada? If they do, you can probably check to see how that trail is rated before you head out, just to feel more prepared.
Thank you for the kind words on Cait's wedding LO. I'm still not feeling very creative, but I hope you are getting your mojo back!!

Took MIL shopping for some pants - a great way to kill several hours. She didn't end up finding any, but did buy a nice top. So I guess that's something.
Do I detect sarcasm or was it really a great way to kill several hours? I hate shopping so it sounds like torture but maybe (hopefully) you were having fun!

@BoatLady How long before you get the MRI results? Whatever it is, I hope that it is easily fixable.
How old is your G-DD? You must be excited to have her visit. :)

Waving helloooooo to everyone! xo

Digital decluttering here. I'm going to delete my Facebook & Instagram account on Saturday. Have a layout I need to post all over internet tomorrow, but after that - I will leave. I've stepped down from 4 CTs that requires FB. The latest "improvements" declared by Mr Suckerberg (yes - that was intentionally misspelled) was the last straw. I'm curious how "easy" it will be to delete my accounts, I've heard it's a bit of a struggle.

Inspired by this decision - I started to go through my mail. Unsubscribed from tons of news letters, and I deleted over 14.000 e-mails yesterday. (Yes, it was long overdue!) Now I just need to get a DAILY routine to delete and keep my inbox clean.

Been thinking about FOMO a lot - realized that if you have too much FOMO - the things you are really interested in - it will drown in all the excess info that's just pours over you. I'm going to take a step back, scrap what I want, read what I want and relax.

This is apparently what happens when you DON'T make any new year's resolutions. LOL

I know, right? Another month just zipping by!
Do Cait and Tom eat dinner with you every night? I know you love it when your son is there!

I have Bridge on my phone for the photos, I believe. I'll have to see if there is a computer version.

I could hardly move yesterday morning. After icing my back off and on yesterday, it actually doesn't feel too bad today! Thank You, Lord! Yes, a blessing we didn't have the widows' meeting yesterday, for sure! I would have had to cancel anyway!

Another quick in and out this morning. Taking my car in for oil change and other servicing at 10AM. Will do several errands after it is done. And hope it is warmer by then.... It is 16*F right now and feels like 7*F!!! Another very cold start for the day. Yes, the moon is full again this morning but it is too cold to go outside and get a photo of it.

Yes, yesterday's luncheon was so much fun... all the gals were there. Lots of talk, laughter and sharing. Enjoyed it but was ready to come straight home and put the feet up.

@faerywings I also saw the wedding photo on the LO... so beautiful! Must admit that I get a big chuckle out of your dogs' antic when it is cold outside!!! :floorlaugh:

@tanteva WOW!! That is a lot of emails to get rid of... Understand why you are stepping back from your on-line presence, Just hope you don't withdrawal symptoms too much. And that you pop-in here still.. :hug2:

@BoatLady Good luck with the MRI of the shoulder, I have had a torn rotator cuff repair on the right shoulder several years ago... and have a torn rotator cuff on the left one but the doc wouldn't do surgery on it... due to my age...:thinking2:o_O

@vickyday So sorry about your back injury due to coughing so hard!!! Yes, ice packs to begin with then switch over to heat later on.
@taxed4ever Hope the hike is not too difficult today... wow... that is quite a change in challenge rating. Maybe is was just a typo about the change.

Time for more coffee and get dressed. HAGD

I don't miss Facebook! Fortunately, it's not required here for posting my layouts!
I have cut down my email, but it could use another diet!
What does FOMO stand for?

Granddaughter is 22 till May. She is our first grandchild and only girl so it is special and we are very close. I just wish we had warmer weather but it is still warmer than Connecticut so she will like it.
My HS friend from CT who lives in the town next to us just had a burst brain aneurysm ...doing ok but wow what a shocker. We just spent New Years Eve with them....hubby texts me often with her progress...doing well and has a wonderful doctor. Just goes to show how fragile we really are.

@melscrap ---oh I hate shopping so I was cringing at your several hours of shopping and not finding what you went for.

@BrightEyes Ladies lunches are the best, i hope you enjoyed yours.

@faerywings interesting fact about woodpeckers. I guess they need to be able to reach deep into trees to get the bugs they eat. I hope your mojo returns so you can create more wedding pages...it's so fun to relive the event page by page!

@vickyday is the cold/heat helping your back...I was up again at 4 with shoulder pain. I use cold/heat but it isn't helping I am anxious to see what MRI shows

Have a fabulous day everyone.

Good Morning,
The back is better after icing it yesterday, thank the Lord!
Today, before we take the car back to the shop (yes, the engine light is STILL on!) after church, I have my 6-month ring-cleaning appointment. It is by Olive Garden, so I think I will see if Ilene wants to go with me and eat at Olive Garden. I'm pretty sure that will be a YES! The woman loves to eat! And she has a healthy appetite! Her 85th birthday is this Saturday.

No plans outside of the ring-cleaning. Might spend the day with Ilene. Not sure.

Have a good one!

Yes, the cold helped tremendously yesterday! I can actually walk upright today! Hope they figure out something for your shoulder!

Morning ladies... it is a clear, chilly morning and the full moon is shining brightly on the Lake, so pretty. Hope that the roads are not icy this morning for my drive to the hike. Will be leaving shortly, so just popping in quickly to say Hi :wavinghello:. Dentist appt went as well as could be expected, no cavities. They do want me to come in every 4 months for cleaning now, instead of twice a year. Not sure our insurance will cover that, but we will see. Had a new hygenist, who is expecting her second child in april. She was very sweet and very chatty . Hard to talk when your mouth is full of cleaning equipment though :giggle4:. My brother's obituary was in the paper last night, another shock to the system seeing that!! Hope to make it through the hike without any tears, but DH told me to take plenty of tissues. Looking forward to seeing my friend Pat on the hike and going to lunch with her afterwards. It will be good to get out of the house and in the fresh air again!

@faerywings - Yes our hikes are all on Wikiloc or All trails, so I can see what the difficulty is like, talked to my friend Pat about it and she said its not that hard, and thinks that they made another typo on the second email. Hope the temps warm up for you soon and the cleaning goes well!!

@BrightEyes - Sounds chilly where you are also, hope you get your errands finished and you get home to your cozy warm house quickly! Ladies luncheon sounded fun, glad you were able to attend!

@BoatLady - OMG about your friend!! Yes, you never know do you?? Life is fragile and you never know what will be thrown your way!! Sending lots of healing thoughts to your friend!! :loveangel:.

@vickyday - Hope you get to have lunch at the Olive Garden and your ring will be all sparkly clean again!! Can't believe that the engine light is still on in your car!! Glad to hear that your back is feeling better today!

Ok I have to get my layers on and my backpack out of moth balls, seems like forever since I was out on a hike! Have a great day everyone! :waving3:

Good morning ladies. I will enjoy the morning walk with Remi, it is mild (for this time of year here) and sunny. Then I am off for our Wed ladies coffee meetup and after that will have 1/2 an hour before heading out for lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. No card game for me today.

For meal planning, I am going back to basics. One day a week we'll have soup and sandwich (probably tomato soup and grilled cheese). One day we'll have a large salad with shredded chicken and veggies. One day we'll have breakfast for dinner (scrambled with veggies and cheese, along with home fries). That leaves 4 meals but probably at least 1 will be at a restaurant b/c we go out with friends). So, 3 open spots for whatever I want to make (at least 1-2 of those will be buddah bowls for me). I will make a big batch of chili this week and rice too to freeze. My next job will be to go thru the 2 freezers and see what we have and what should get used up soon. I know I have sauces/dips etc that are only good for 3 months or so and I don't want to be wasteful so might plan some snacks and side dishes with that stuff.

I'll have a big shrimp salad for dinner tonight, will make up a creamy balsamic dressing and will pick up some sourdough bread. D can have a steak with a salad.

We have one episode of Dune Prophecy to watch and am really enjoying it. I'm also really enjoying my latest book, The Grace Year. If you like Handmaid's Tale you might like this one.

I'm getting dressed and have to head out with Remi before meeting the ladies. HAGD everyone.

Good Morning!
Missed you all the last two days. Had a fast trip taking a friend to medical appointments. Hit Costco the next day and then came home. I am wore out, tired and not ready for today but here it is anyway. Look out coffee, your going with me today! :giggle4:

This is great!!! You will be happy next month. When I deleted my FB it was hard at first cause we have that pattern of look look look. I dont miss it. I do have instagram but mostly for medical connections. I've thought of cancelling it too but haven't yet. I find I just watch funny people or my daughter. I cant wait to hear how much you love not having fb anymore. I noticed how often someone says "did you see on fb?" or on FB this happened. Its amazing how much time people spend on fb because of fomo. My mothers the worst. She use to screen shot stuff so I could see. It drove me crazy. What I hate the most is news info is on fb only. Even the news websites (small town sites) dont put everything online but they sure do on fb.

As for email, that happens over coffee. I open, look, delete and then move on. But that little number next to the envelope drives me crazy. Like my phone is yelling at me. I have a "saved email" folder for important stuff. Otherwise I have a personal goal to keep the inbox at 50 emails for less. Its stressing me out I'm at 72 right now. But as soon as some packages arrive I can delete them and get it back down :giggle4:

Well, coffee cup is empty. Need to grab some more and get started on my crazy busy day.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!! Stay warm! for the first time in over a week were below freezing but not by far.

Oh, I know the first days will be hard. Have had "breaks" or "internet vacations" before. Since I have my scrap forums, I'll hope they will keep me busy. Also, I've started to read more, to re-learn to use my brain (Shut up Chris! I know what you thought!) in other ways. Now I start my day with a book & a cup of tea.

The hardest part for me will be to not share. It's like stuff isn't really done, until I've posted about it. To battle that feeling, I've started a project that I've named "Revisiting my stash" - meaning I make layouts with old designs, that I no longer can post on-line since the designers aren't in any stores. (Yes, I know there are places where I could post if I want to, but I'm limiting myself to three store galleries nowadays). It's a great challenge for me.

I try to keep my inbox down to teens and twenties but it gets higher when I'm waiting for deliveries, too.
I hate when you unsubscribe but they keep sending stuff. Those get marked as spam after the first or second time.

Yep! Enjoyed the soup and salad for lunch. Brought the rest of the salad home for Mark and they even asked if I wanted soup to go.....um...yes, of course! And they even included garlic bread! No cooking for me tonight!
Yes, the car is going to be the death of me! A tire system warning also came on today! Grrr!

I am back and worn out already (left at 9:15 AM and didn't get home until 2:20PM). The oil change and tire rotation took over 2 hours even with my appointment... as the dealership was really busy. Made 3 stops on the way home. I swear the crowds were everywhere... just like it was right before Christmas time. Could be because we have a snow advisory for Friday and possibly through the weekend. I forgot that I needed office folders for 2025 and just remembered them once I got home... Oh, well... will try to remember to pick them up the next time I am out and about. Oh... just remembered that Monday is Martin Luther King Holiday... banks and post office is closed then. Just finished eating the last of the salad for a very late lunch. Going to have a sandwich for supper and head to bed early, Have a full day of chores to do tomorrow.

Do I detect sarcasm or was it really a great way to kill several hours? I hate shopping so it sounds like torture but maybe (hopefully) you were having fun!
I don't mind clothes shopping if I have someone tagging along - I appreciate the brutal honesty, and the collapse into utter silliness about some of the fashions out there. It's something my mum and I used to do together when we lived in the same town.
Shopping with MIL is interesting. She is visually impaired, so everything moves at a different pace to what I'm used to. Like, we'd go into the mall and realise that's the entrance with the steps, which will take 15 minutes to walk down with MIL, so we double back to the entrance with the travelators. Her white magic wand is useful in making crowds part like the red sea, or getting super personalised service where usually you'd get no service at all. So that is good. On the other hand it can be a bit like a bull in a china shop, especially in shops where they cram shelving or booths in the middle of aisles.
My patience is definitely getting a workout! But the two of us have lots of laughs together. And there's always cake and coffee involved somewhere. Bonus!
