I am currently in the "what day is it?" portion of Christmas Break. Cait is off from work all week, Scott has been staying with Sam, and I have no clue where I am LOL It actually feels kind of nice :D

I "stole" a bunch of photos from the family that had been posted on FB and shared a bunch of ones I had taken. My MIL has been reposting photos from all of the past Christmas Eves. I love seeing the same kids, year after year, as they are now adults. I scrapped a page for SeniorGal's Latest Kit Challenge and am on the second one for it. More scrapping in the last 24 hours than I had in the previous week.

I found my floor and vacuumed! I threw all of the dog toys in a pile and then watched as the two of them dug through it and tossed everything around.
I am picking up groceries and then cleaning for my friend today so at least today's schedule is "normal."

Hope you are all having a good day!

@LSlycord Both trees are away?? Ack. I hate you. (not really ♥) Our ornaments are the same type, 99.9% are special in some way, lots of handmade ones. We have ones for all of the pets, even the snakes. Ones from when Gary and I were just dating too.
What an amazing find of your Grandma's sheet music. Can you scan some of them to lighten up the stack to save?
Good luck with your SS application. Hopefully, you won't have to go in person to get it reviewed.

@tanteva Love your new avatar! Hahaha! Isn't that panda video great? Don't show it to Discord, don't want him to learn any new tricks. I am glad that the ear isn't still infected, hopefully, the new meds will do the trick quickly. Smart move to reschedule the dentist appt.

@BrightEyes Hahahaha!! I think that's why I like my Bitmoji avatar, I feel like me-- but with no lines/wrinkles/aches/pains LOL
What a romantic story and memory of the photo and dress.
Thanks for 'fessing up that you don't always set the table like that, and I remember your book stand, I wanted to get that for my mom and she said she didn't need one. It's still in my Amazon Wish List in case she changes her mind.
If you can't eat chipotle, what do you use to spice up your food? Only chipotle gives issues or can you sub a different kind of pepper?
That would be wonderful if your grandson is interested in the SUV, very smart to have him take it to the car wash too *G*

@bcgal00 I bet you and your body needed that sleep, can't imagine the stress over the last few weeks.
You and Remi are going to look cute in your matching pink coats :D
I hope all of the camera sales/purchases go smoothly and quickly

@Cherylndesigns Oh my goodness, the NYE party sounds amazing!! Oh, how much fun to dress up and be at "Speak Easy," you are going to have a blast!
I can't wait to see all of the pictures! And talk about some great scrap pages to come as well.
I see pictures of dogs with their toys being all sweet and nurturing to them, like Daisy. Nope, not mine, none of them ever snuggled with a toy, they destroy them.

Kay- great news about the SD card fix!
What a beautiful photo of you and Bill ♥

@vickyday maybe talking out the cilantro will do the trick. I adore avocado and guac, can't imagine not eating them.
Make sure Mark goes back to work. Promise me. The last thing you want is to have him home 24/7. Believe me.:oops:hahaha!
(Can't think of the last time I had the house to myself for more than a few hours in the last 18 years.)
The cabin looks incredible!!! I am in awe that he did all that on his own!

Yikes... up really early... 4:40AM!!! @faerywings - I am like you in not sure what day it is. Threw on a housecoat and hustled outside and wheeled the trash and recycle bins out to the curb as they can come as early as 6 AM. Grabbed my coffee and got on the computer - saw the date - checked the calendar.... today is WEDNESDAY... not THURSDAY when trash pickup is scheduled!! So hustled back outside to wheel the bins back to the side of the house. Thankfully none of the neighbors were out driving by to see my mad dash in my housecoat. :rolleyes:o_O:rolleyes: So I will get to do that again tomorrow morning. And can you believe it... it was 51*F outside!! It has dropped down to 45* with light rain now. The 'cold' front will be moving in today with a possibility of light snow late tonight or tomorrow.

If you can't eat chipotle, what do you use to spice up your food? Only chipotle gives issues or can you sub a different kind of pepper?
I use grown in New Mexico ground red chili (from either Hatch or Chimayo) and I use Cumin to add that extra spice taste. I like the "HOT" one - but the "MILD" still has the right chili taste. Be aware that the NM ground chili is much hotter than ground chili in the can and has a much better flavor. Funny story: Many years ago - when I was living in San Diego, California, I spotted some New Mexico ground red chili packages at the vegetable stand. The owner warned me that I wouldn't like it as it was "really hot". I laughed and told him I grew up eating New Mexico chili so I could handle it just fine!

@vickyday Wow, the cabin is come along! And to think that your DH is building it with lumber he milled himself! So sorry that IBS gives you such problems. One of my aunts had that so understand how it can interfere with things you like to do or food you like to eat. <<< hugs >>> You were so sweet to sit with the mother while the family attended the funeral. My hat is off to you for knitting those baby socks. I have worked with double pointed needles and needles in the round - knitting a couple of sweaters. They are fun but as small as those are - they would be a big challenge! Love the color of the fingering yarm.

@Cherylndesigns you MUST TAKE PHOTOS and SHARE THEM of the New Year's Eve party! What a hoot it will be. Hope the outfit size fits you... that is why I hate to order clothes as you never know how true the sizes are. I have attended some Roaring 20's parties with my Red Hat group. The combo of the Steampunk and Roaring 20's is fantastic.

@bcgal00 So happy to hear you sold most of the cameras and equipment... and so quickly. Hope the new camera/etc comes in soon. I know you will be out trying it out as soon as it arrives.

Good morning. We decided that we are going to take a cruise over the holidays next year so I've been knee deep in cruise research. And I'm reviewing boxes and shredding "old stuff" (e.g. just found my folks tax stuff from 2004...why?) and trying to get organized. Of course, this has caused me to go through genealogy stuff that I documented back from the early '90's through the early 2000's. And, every once in awhile, I have to stop to go check out some details in a census or something obscure like that. Oh...and the cookbooks. I have gotten rid of so many cookbooks previously...but now I'm doing yet another purge. I really do hate this stuff.

I think more of the same today...still too cold to do anything. I even laid in bed for awhile because it was dark and cold. It was 34* when I got up but it is 47* now and is on the way to a high of 67* so hopefully we are back on track. (And I did think of all of you ladies as I was struggling with the dark and 34* temps.)

I think today will be more of the same. I am planning to make baked potato soup for supper...we have been eating leftovers all week so thought I'd throw in a little something new. ;)

I'll be back for personals...for real...in just a bit.

@faerywings it is really nice to not have to think about what day it is. I don't even have a running countdown in my head of how many days until Syd goes back to school. Nope...just enjoying every minute!

@BrightEyes you are up so early! I agree with @Cherylndesigns your description of the balls that you attended with DH gave me chills. And I can't believe that you made all of those clothes yourself. What an accomplishment! And you made clothes for him too. Oh my! How did you and Bill meet anyway? Such a splendid love affair! LOL about running out to get the trash when you realized it was only Wednesday!

@Cherylndesigns the New Year's Eve party sounds like so much fun! Those pictures will be so awesome. And since you are going out, Chuck will need to stay up until midnight. ;) When will Brandon be home?

@vickyday that cabin is amazing! I am so incredibly impressed with what Mark is doing. Even milling his own lumber. Between the two of you, you are so creative!

@tanteva hope that the ear gets better quickly. It sounds painful!

LOL... we grew up in the same town. [Back-story: His oldest brother (15 yrs older who joined the Marines later) was good friends with my mom's 2 younger brothers and used to spend times with them at my grandmother's house.] I knew who Bill was when he and his best friend started dating my (1 year older) sister. Then the summer after he graduated, Bill went to San Diego to work and start college and he wrote her letters. He quit college and came back home in late fall. He and his best buddy were still dating my sister then. One Sunday, his buddy beat Bill to the phone and called my sister to go out for a drive that evening.... Bill said to ask her to put me on the phone. He asked me to "go along and chaperon Sister's date with his buddy". I laughed and said 'sure' even though I was 'going steady' with another guy. Long story short... I broke up with my steady boyfriend the next day and Bill and I began to 'go steady' 2 months later and were married 6 months after our first date. Oh, and by the way - about both the uncles - 1 got married less than a year before and 1 the same year Bill and I got married! And we had children almost the same age!!! Bill's brother was astounded when he realized who I was - at our first meeting after our marriage he said 'I remember helping change your diapers' !!! Talk about mortifying!!! :D:D:D Many said the marriage wouldn't last 5 years... but we had 63+ wonderful years together.

Someone asked about the ball in Cairo... here is a linked LO that shows us standing on the balcony overlooking the Nile River in the background. Yes, that is another dress I made. I bought the fabric in Athens, Greece while visiting there and made it in Cairo just before the ball. DD#2 happened to be visiting us in Cairo. She went with us to the ball and took this photo.

Well, fortunately Mark loves his job! However, I think if it were up to him I think he would live in the woods! I don't think I have to worry about him spending 24/7 in the house, anyway! He's already talking about spending some nights down there, especially if it is raining, since the roof is tin! I said, "I hope you don't expect me to sleep down there!" He doesn't! Wouldn't matter if he did, LOL! I do well to sleep in my own bed, as comfy as it is!

Yes, the IBS is more of a nuisance than anything! I do miss eating lots of the foods that I used to love.....spicy foods being in that group, unfortunately! :(
I finished the first sock at 3 a.m last night! I'll post a pic in just a few. And there is NO way I can use the circular needles, even as small as they are, on this project, unfortunately! Too small and the sock is split up on the needles in such a way to help you keep track of the pattern!

The Lord did bless us with creative genes, for sure! My first husband, the student and preacher, had his own ideas about "fixing" things......fix it until you break it and need to call in the expert! LOL! I have my own set of tools as a result of HIS exploits! I had the scroll saw, the router, the sander, the dremel tool, clamps.........I could go on, but I think you get my drift, LOL!

Good Morning Ladies,
Stayed up til I got the first baby sock done. Mine looks a lot different than the one in the pattern, but honestly, I like mine better, LOL!
IMG_20221228_104706605_HDR-web.jpg

It is so sweet! But after working it all I know for a fact that I cannot use the circular needles I bought from Amazon! That's OK. I'll save them for a different project. I want to try some adult socks after I finish the other baby sock and the blanket.

I took my yarn for the baby sock and blanket with me yesterday when I went to sit with my friends' mom while they attended the funeral. My friend had said to me....."mom watches Judge Judy from 2-4 and then binges on Fox News, so take your ear plugs!" LOL! The TV never came on while I was there. When I got there, her granddaughter was helping her get dressed to go to the funeral. So, for the first half hour or so I just sat there in the living room waiting for them to come out of the bedroom. When she finally got settled into her reading chair and her granddaughter made final touches while waiting for her husband to pick her up, we did nothing but talk for 2 hours while waiting on her daughter to pick her up for the funeral. She is such a sweet lady. I think she turned 93 in June. Her mind is still sharp even though her body isn't. She was the pastor's wife at the church where my first DH was before he passed.....where Mark and I still attend. Her husband died about 5 years before Tim did. He was almost 90 before he finally retired from the pulpit!

When I got home Mark was gone. He had gone to CVS to pick up his Jardiance which he takes along with Metformin. While he was "in the area" he picked himself up some Chinese food since we didn't know when I was expected to be home. That was fine with me! Before I went to sit with Mrs. Parks, I had spent the day with Ilene and Carolyn. I picked them up and we went out to eat. I had half of that food left that I ate after I got home. I went straight to sit with Mrs. Parks after I dropped Carolyn off at home. I was tired when I got home and certainly did not feel like fixing a meal for Mark!

I finished the sock at 3 a.m. Went to bed and fell right to sleep! Mark had already been in bed for 5 hours. He was already up, fed the dogs and gone to the woods when I got up at 10:30. The sun is shining and the temp is 40 already! Pleasant working weather for Mark but I'll stay in, thank you very much! I'm going to get started on the second sock. I do need to take something out to fix for supper tonight. Since Mark got Chinese last night it tells me he is ready for a change from the leftovers! He will eat more of them for lunch, but I'll be sure and have something different for him for his supper! Tonight is church, I just remembered, so I need to get off of here and get busy! I need to take meat out of the freezer.

Have a great day!

Good afternoon all.

Today is Wednesday (saying to myself) I had no idea what day it was when i first got up. Chris @faerywings don't feel like the only one who doesn't know what day it is. Haha Those dog toys - we used to just watch and see how many minutes it took our Lab and Lab mixes to destroy their toys. They even destroyed "indestructible" toys. Our last Lab, Sam, was the worst. It was so funny though, I got him a stuffed alligator once and he never tore it up - he carried it around, but never destroyed it. We never figured out why he didn't chew that one up. It was pretty big, but so were a lot of his others that he did destroy.

Linda, you've been a busy bee - it must feel good to purge a little bit. I'm really not sure when Braden will be home - probably this weekend because school is starting again. I can't believe he will miss this party, but he's having a ball. I just hope the snarled airlines are a little bit better by this weekend. People have been stranded in airports for days. I'm so grateful we don't have to travel anymore. I saw your questions about cruises on FB. Have you been on a cruise before? I can't remember if you have or not. Ava wants to take a family trip next Christmas, but I don't do cruises, so I'm not sure what it would be. She mentioned all of us going to Branson for a few days - that would be fun.

Kay @BrightEyes that's so funny about you rushing out to take the trash and it was the wrong day. Been there, done that. Especially on holiday weeks, because they usually changed their schedules.. Thanks for posting that Cairo layout.

Vicky @vickyday I LOVE the color red - that would be awesome on your cabin. LOL that Mark will probably be spending a lot of time there and possibly sleeping there too, once in awhile.

We will definitely be taking lots of pictures Saturday and can't wait to scrap our NYE. We all share the pictures we took whenever we're together.

Good morning ladies. I'm menu planning this morning and then we're heading out for groceries. Too much fast food and packaged food and my stomach is feeling a bit yucky. Time to get back into keto. I was going to wait until January to start but my body is telling me to do it now. I started taking the probiotics again and now just need to stock up on some keto friendly foods. I also need to get back into drinking more water, I've been slacking off lately.

Two flickers came to our suet feeder today. This is the first time I've seen any come, so it took 8 months. Hope they come more often now. I got a couple of phone pics out the window to remind me that the came today but of course the photos are crap but I was able to get my other small camera and grab a quick pic before they flew off. So I have enough to scrap a page and journal about it. I've been waiting and hoping for flickers so this was a lovely surprise today.

I'll come back later but I need to get my list together and go to the store. HAGD everyone.

Oh Kay, @BrightEyes, thanks for sharing the story. I knew it would be a wonderful love story and it really was!

@vickyday I love that sweet pink baby sock. It just looks so soft. And I vote for the weathered red for the cabin. I can just imagine that cabin in a weathered barn red with the trees all around! It would be beautiful. Glad that you had some food from lunch left over and that Mark got his Chinese food. I hate the "purging process" but I do feel good when I have accomplished it.

@Cherylndesigns the airport travel is an absolute mess. I do not believe that I can ever get on another plane unless it is somewhere that I can't get to any other way! Brian and I did a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas probably 25 years ago. It was a really small ship and he didn't like it. But everyone seems to feel like they would like to do that. It was between Beaches All Inclusive and a cruise...but you have to fly to Beaches. And I just don't think that I can stand the stress of that...especially around Christmas. It's not the flying that is bad...it's everything else! Hope that Braden's flight is uneventful.

@bcgal00 I have been awful with my water consumption and I think that I have just eaten straight through since Thanksgiving. By the time Syd goes back to school, I'm going to be ready to go pretty much cold turkey I think. I've started increasing my water intake again. Can't wait to see your page with the flickers.

Ok...I'm back to my boxes again.

WOW! I would love to see flickers at my feeders! I have been very slack this last month in taking care of my feeders! Now that the weather is warming a bit, I need to clean the feeders and resupply them!

Thanks! The sock is so sweet!
I'm going to try adding some red to the cabin in photoshop and "prepare" Mark for my thoughts, LOL! Maybe if he sees it "painted" he will agree! ;)

Oh, YES! I'm thinking the cabin is going to have to be RED! Here's my photoshopped version. I think I'm in love! Now to convince Mark! ;)

My daughter has 3 dogs; two are pretty big and then there is the chiweenie - too funny! She posted a picture of the 3 of them enjoying their new toys that didn't last very long, LOL!
Poor little Toby.....she dresses him just like a kid! I think she is missing the early mommy days, LOL!

Oh my then you made the right choice - since you live in FL, and most cruises start there, you wouldn't have to fly. Good choice and definitely the one I'd make!! I don't care if I never get on a plane again. Thousands of people spent their Christmas holidays sleeping in airports. I believe if people boycotted the airlines for 2 weeks, that crap would straighten itself out. But, that wouldn't ever happen - people just have to travel - I get it for business, but not for pleasure anymore because it's certainly no pleasure.
