It's all good????? It is Dec 12 and I am struggling with gift ideas for the people closest to me know. Cait is easy- but Scott, my mom, Gary-- help!!! I have 2 things for Gary, 3 for Scott, and nothing for my mom. My mom, in the long run, is happy with pictures of the kids. But still... I don't have any of them. Scott, Caitlyn, and Leah took a picture of themselves on campus wearing their Ramapo sweatshirts. There is this gorgeous stone arch on the grounds so it is a pretty photo. At any rate, they are giving that to her. Not sure what I can do.

On a good note, I am late getting here this morning because I finally found a gift idea for my nephew. He is a Freshman at U of Pittsburgh and is on the newspaper staff. I was able to find a nice journal with the school logo on it with a pen holder and all that. It should be here before the 24th *fingers crossed*

It was fantastic not having to go to the supermarket yesterday. I had to go to the bank/post office/pick up the food and I was only gone for 45 minutes. I was able to start painting the bottles for the centerpieces that I am making for gifts. I hope to get the painting and clear coating done today so I can start assembling them tomorrow. I also put some of the red ribbons/green garland out on the fence and put the leftover Christmas tree branches into a bucket with some ribbons on the front porch. they need a bit more work but it was only 30* outside and it was too cold for my hands. I used some of the smaller branches to fill some vases inside for decoration. No idea how long they will last without water but they look pretty for now and they smell nice too.
The rats are super sweet and adorable. I got to snuggle with Cordelia a bit. She is a jumper-- she will jump off of your shoulder and back into her cage even if you are standing two feet away from it. Titania tried to do the same, but she isn't as agile... she missed the edge of the cage and went down. Poor little thing!

Today I am cleaning and then crafting. There are (many) times that I wish I could be a "normal" person and simply buy a gift, regardless of price (ok-- within reason!) and be done instead of being on a tight budget. OTOH, I do enjoy making something personal and I think that Arlene's gift especially will be special to her.

hey-- if any of you have gift ideas for my family-- go ahead and shout them out. I am taking all suggestions into consideration! LOL

xoxo

Kay- sorry that you woke up so early but that is at least a good, solid chunk of sleep. Challenges? Gallery? Scrapping? What are these words that you are saying??
I am really happy that you are having a good time with it. Your fruit salad sounds really pretty! Did you take a pic?

IKWYM about needing to have the disks for programs. We have a backup for our files, but everytime a computer crashes, Gary has to remind me that program files aren't part of it which sets me into a panic. So far, so good. *knocks wood* Hope that you get PSE today.
You will get sick of hearing stories about the rats but I never get sick of sharing them :sorry: Rats are such fascinating and fun pets. So darn smart and social. Already we are seeing some small signs of their personalities emerging.

Rae- all of that housework yesterday-- does that mean that your back is better?
I am glad that the hospital is avoiding Jen if that means that they aren't releasing B just yet. I just don't understand! I also sorry that you are all still dealing with this. How many episodes have you watched of Hill House? Scott and Leah are in the same boat, watching but having to wait to be together.

Trudy- I saw the pics of you on FB-- Your Gary looks the same as he did 40 years ago. And you my darling-- what a sweet baby face you had! You are more beautiful with every passing year!!

What did he think of the video? I bet he loved it!!!
I am with you, I feel like I blink and the day has flown by. This month is doing the same. Yikes!!!!!

Jean- I cannot wait to do the same and say that I am done with the gift shopping. Your tree is what Gary had in mind for this year, I think. But he is happy with the one that we picked out even if I think that it is too small *winks* Have a great time at the genealogy group meeting today.

Felis- I can't imagine how difficult it must be to shop with different currencies, especially if the exchange rates change a lot. Glad that the bank seemed to able to work it out.

I can't believe that the 12 Days is over today too. At least we have until the end of the month (IIRC!) to finish LO's for challenges.
I will give the babies some pets and hugs from you too- they are so soft. Clover and Muffin's fur had thinned out as they got very old so the babies silky fur is such a difference to us. Cait misses her girls so much but is happy thinking about them watching over this batch.

W needs to go outside-- TTYS!!

good morning - I am finding it hard to be organized and it is so silly it more a case of procrastination. Taking an hour out of my day to do aqua therapy is of course more than that as you have to get ready and then get unready when you get home. Then I am tired. I am happy with it but still it takes time and that I did not really want to take. LOL I should not whine. My car is doing bizarre things but my son says not dangerous so I will get it worked on next week. He is getting me a loaner but he reminded me that it is not under warranty so it will cost. He says I should just buy a new car LOL. This one has just 36K miles so I don't really want to do that. But he is a good son and it only charging for parts not labor. I have not been scrapping. Loving all the pages at the O.

Chris I have not gotten any gifts. Mostly because my DH and I have what we want and I don't want any more stuff to dust or stuff to put away. Congrats on your open house and getting so much done for your baskets. Love hearing about the rats. I am loving their names. As for gift ideas I say experiences are the way to go. Perhaps give your parents a nice day out in the spring or summer where you prepare the food or drive them. I love that you hand make your gifts.

Trudy I love those photos of you and Gary with your son as a baby. You were adorable. How did he like the video.

Rae that is strange that the hospital is avoid Jen instead of trying to determine the correct course of action with the medical people and the family. Good luck! Glad you will be getting some down time soon.

Felis that currency equivalent between countries is the pits. That is why I use a credit card because as you say the bank takes care of it.

Kay sorry that you keep waking up early. Hope you got the new PSE. That will be fun with all the scrapping to try the new features.

Jean glad you got the estate stuff out of the way. Have a great time at your meeting!

Have a great day all!

My sister come back home today. I'm so excited to see her! And to hear again all stories from the trip, because of course we was in touch at the whole time (thank goodness of the WhatsApp and long live to its creator!). She have this Post-vacation blues which is totally understable. It's always difficult to turn back from the life you want to this who you have. I remember this period of my life too, and I'm so grateful that now both are the same thing!
I'll go meet her on airport with Tiny dressed up in her little christmas dress. Which just couldn't to not cheers up everyone. And for now remains to finish as much is possible work at afternoon and to make a diner.
Not in scrapping mod, but at least I found a little time for comments! So much beauties at the gallery!

Chris, no useful ideas for gifts, sorry! It's more difficult to shop for men. Dad always get sweater  . If they have favorite band or sport team, some merchandising refers t-shirt or keyring. Also these t-shirts with funny sayings. For your mom you can knit or decoupage something. This branches decoration sounds cool in both meaning of the word. Always pleasure to listen about the paw children (and any kind children)!

Nancy, hope everything with the car to be all right and not so expensive that to cover new car :) . Oh, I understand what you mean about adding new tasks in your routine list. Are you feels some results from the aqua therapy already?!

Hugs and kisses to all!

Morning, everyone. Wow... lot of you are up early! Glad to see your posts.

Woke up yesterday with a pain under my left shoulder-blade radiating up into my neck and down the arm. Took some pain meds and tried to ignore it. But by last night, I was having trouble turning my head to the left. I have a torn rotator-cuff in that shoulder but it isn't bad enough to have surgery on it. So did a few of the exercises for it and rubbed the area I could reach with some pain cream. I was really missing have DH here to do that for me. It is still stiff and hurting this morning. So no lifting, etc with it. << sigh >>

I had a 'stroke of genius' yesterday.... I went ahead and downloaded the free 30 day trial of PSE2019. Decided that I should do a trial with it to make sure it is worth the price before I buy it. Even with it on sale, it is still pricey. Have also read that you only 2 re-installs of it so one recommended doing a trail first.

Got to decide if I am up for driving to the base (25 miles away) to pick up my meds or wait until next week when the weather might be worse. I was wrong about when the winds will be really bad... it is tonight and part of tomorrow - and trash pickup is tomorrow. Have had full bins blown over and down the street when the winds are bad.

Yes, the Red Hat party was nice. I forgot to take a photo of my salad so can't scrap about it. But everyone liked it so only brought a small amount home.

Chris, you had me LOL over those words... scrapping, challenges, comments...!!! Yes, I was trying to get caught up on them. Still have 1 more LO for a challenge to get done. Love the decorations you have created... like using things to make your own decorations. I love the smell of fresh cut greenery at the holidays. But, my DH had allergies so stop using them.

Felis, glad you sister is back from her trip. Bet she will be so glad to see you waiting for her at the airport. Yes, it is a bit of challenge to get back to 'normal' after a trip.

Nancy, so sorry your car is giving you fits but great that your son can help you out. LOL.. I am now driving my DH's car - it is 2012 and only has 14K on it. I had thought to trade it for a new car but realized that was foolish as it is paid for and in great condition. Sounds like you may need to considering getting a newer one as per your son's advice.

Morning O-zies! It is a fairly nice morning so far so I hope to be able to go on my hike today! I don't know if its just the winter weather or what, but I feel so groggy in the mornings and it takes me forever to just wake up and get going. My first thought was I am just too tired to go on my hike, but now that I am starting to wake up a bit I think that I should get out there and get some exercise! It is supposed to start raining again later this morning, but maybe it will hold off long enough to finish our hike. I actually got started on a page for the 12 Days and did a bit of commenting in the gallery yesterday. Wrapped a few gifts and cleaned the bathrooms, so I feel like I got some things accomplished at least.

Chris - Your cuddles with the babies sound so nice! I miss my Mr. Abu's cuddles, even though he was not much of a cuddler. We used to have a cat called Pisces and she loved to cuddle, she especially loved my Gary and would wait in the window for him to come home, like a dog LOL. As soon as he would sit down on the couch she would be all over him, it was so cute! As for a gift idea for your Mother? Why not one of your beautiful faery wings baskets? Or like Felis suggested what about a beautiful decoupage project or transfer of some kind onto a lovely pillow or canvas? I have been wasting time on pinterest looking at some beautiful ideas for throw pillows, ones that I already have that can be brought back to life with a lovely transfer. The men are always harder to buy for, my Gary always wants new Saax underwear LOL and doesn't care if he gets anything else.
I hope you have some luck with ideas!! Thanks for the lovely kind words for my photos on facebook! Yes we were just youngins! It is hard to believe that 40 years has passed by, it really doesn't feel like it has been that long! Our son loved his video and also the Bob Marley vinyl record that we got for him. My DH had given him his collection of records for a gift at Christmas last year, he is really into the old records and loves the sound and memories of listening to his Dad's old collections, so when our DIL suggested the Bob Marley double LP we jumped all over it! Have fun with your crafting today!

Nancy - I know exactly how you feel about having trouble getting organized, yes the swimming takes a few hours out of your day and it is hard accomplish everything when that happens. It happens to me too! But the therapy is so good for you! I hope you will keep it up! Our son really loved the videos and is loving the Good Food meals that are being dropped at the door too! Sad that he won't have anything to open for Christmas from us, but he is a grown man and really doesn't want for anything so it was all we could think of to get him. Thank you for the compliment on my facebook photos, they are very old LOL.

Felis - How nice to have your sister back with you! Yes it is difficult to get back into everyday life after a nice vacation away! Where did she go?? Hope you feel like scrapping soon! Like Chris said you have until the end of the month to get the challenges done.

Kay - Oh noo, that is awful that you have such a pain in the neck!! That happens to me sometimes too when I have been sitting at the computer too long and one sudden twist of the head will bring on the pain!! Ouch!! Great idea to try the trial version of the New PSE!!

Ok I better get my butt in gear and get my lunch packed and get ready to hit the trail!! Have a great day everyone! Send out vibes my way for nice weather for my hike!

Good morning, ladies. Dropped Taz off at daycare and need to get started on desk work pretty quickly this morning. I'm still trying to get used to being busier with work. I'm not used to having to work much harder during the day, especially in the morning, and sometimes I wonder if the extra bit of money is worth it but then I think that yes, it is, and I'm still lucky to be at home, not having to drive back and forth to a job and I still have a bit of flexibility in schedule....so...I need to suck it up and just do it :)

Jen said the facility wants a mtg next week. I'm a bit nervous about what they are going to say. Since they don't have anywhere to send B that seems appropriate they want us to bring her home. There could be so many disastrous outcomes it scares me to bring her home here without more retraining and therapy. Her behavioral issues could be very dangerous if she freaks out on Jen or takes off. So, I'm praying that things somehow work out and whether it's here with us or in another facility for awhile, that she remains safe and cared for. I hate our medical system, it is sorely lacking in resources and help for B. But, keep the prayers and good thoughts coming please and hopefully it will all work out.

Got my haircut yesterday and today I'm off to the dentist in the afternoon for cleaning, tomorrow is my flu shot and then Fri need to take Taz in for his monthly flush. So no relaxing lunch times for me this wk.

Chris - I was thinking the same thing as Trudy, maybe a canvas? What about a decorated photo box with a photo decoupaged to the lid? Do you have glass markers to decorate/personalize glassware? I bet you'd come up with some pretty decorating patterns. So cute to hear your stories of the rats, I never tire of hearing them. We only saw 2 episodes of HOHH so have 8 more to go, can't wait.

Nancy - I know how you feel about the time involved in the therapy as I sometimes feel that way about the jogging and strength training I do, I have so little free time and many times I want to do nothing or something else, but once I get out there I feel good about it and then of coures afterwards I'm happy b/c I'm taking care of my health. But, sometimes I wish I could be healthy and fit without having to put in the time :)

Felis - happy that you'll have your sister back today. What fun to bring Tiny dressed up. It sounds like the perfect way to perk her up with her after holiday blues.

Kay - hope the rotator cuff pain settles down. Mine doesn't bother me much luckily (I've torn both shoulders over the last 15 yrs) neither rec'd surgery, just months of rehab at the time of injury. I think my weight lifting helps and I'm careful about above shoulder lifting. The frustrating part is at night in my sleep, my arm gets stretched up over my head and wakes me up with discomfort, then I pull the arm back down, go back to sleep and it wakes me up again and again....grrr....I wish my brain would figure out that is not a good position to put my arm in when I sleep. Hope you feel better quickly.

Trudy - enjoy the hike and hope the rain holds off. I bet your son loved the video. I saw the pics on FB when you and G when your son was born. Wonderful pics.

Hope everyone has a great day. I'd better refresh my coffee and get to work.

Lost my internet, phone and cable around noon [it is a bundle from cable provider]. Finally came back about an hour and half later. DD#1 came over for coffee this morning. I got her to rub down my shoulder, back and neck with my DH's miracle pain/muscle-relaxer liquid. Don't know where DH got it but it only takes a few drops rubbed into the area to ease the pain/stiffness. DD said one of the shoulder muscles was in a huge knot... no wonder it was painful. I am now able to turn the head some. She is going to come back later this afternoon and apply some more liquid to it. Decided to stay in my pjs as I can't stand to have my bra strap on the shoulder. May have to do the same tomorrow if it is still painful.

I had rotator-cuff surgery on the other (right) shoulder about 5 years ago as the tendon was attached 'only by a thread' [doc's description. He had to put a pin into the arm bone to reattach it. So don't want to have surgery on the left shoulder. I have my pulley so will have DD put it up on the pantry door so I can do some light stretches with it. I remember my PT sessions very well - so will see if that is all I have to do.

Today was nice with a great group, larger than usual, at the senior center genealogy group. One came in a Santa hat with little blinking lights. It was really cute but I said he was all lit up. We do have a good time and talk about genealogy. I think two discovered relatives in common!

I'm a little sad the 12 days party here is ending, but pleased I could finish a last LO to complete my participation. It's been fun and I've scrapped more in 12 days than any of the last few months.

Chris, never stop with the tales of C's rats! We love them. Nice that being able to pick up the groceries really was a big help. I'm no help with the gift ideas, but I know long ago in my family hand-made gifts were thought to be more special than store-bought. Quaint idea these days perhaps, but I think it's still true for your gift recipients.

Nancy, time is apparently the price you have to pay to get the therapy that you seem to need but I sure hope it really is helping. Yikes, hate the idea you might need a new car if this one suits you well. DS will obviously let you know what he thinks.

Felis, wish I could see your sister's face when she first saw you with Tiny dressed up to meet her. Wonderful idea to cheer her up. Hopefully she'll get into the holiday mood and just be glad she had the vacation but also glad to be home. Thanks so much for reading those 52 weeks pages of mine and commenting on them. I appreciate it! Glad you liked that little turkey decoration. It sure was cute. The poinsettia is looking beautiful but it hasn't been quite cold enough to have to bring it in from the unheated room and downstairs, but hopefully by Christmas we will have it down here.

Kay, so sorry the shoulder pain has hit you. With DD to apply the miracle cure and an exercise device you'll hopefully get better soon. Sending wishes you will. Hoping you relaxed in pjs and don't get problems from the wind. Clever you to download the trial PSE.

Trudy, glad your DS enjoyed the video and the records sound like a wonderful gift for him to actually open. With Christmas covered by the wonderful and thoughtful food delivery I'm sure he won't mind not being surprised on Christmas morning. Hope you got to go on the hike and the weather cooperated.

Rae, sending those hopes about the care facility and B! You are such a busy lady but even getting out for errands must help a little. Do take care of you too!

Zanthia, fingers crossed for Dory's visit and that it will be match you're hoping for.
