So, yesterday didn't go as planned. Food shopping was fine. I picked up a few of the things that Gary had asked for his new diet. When I left the store, it was super cloudy so I texted BFF to see what the weather was like down by her and it was just as yucky with T-storms coming through around 2. We discussed and decided to reschedule for next week.
Yes, the weather was really cloudy, but guess what happened at 2? The sun came out. *slaps forehead* I swear, I can't win. hahaha!!
Gary made a very good point, that if I had gone to BFF's, it would have rained the entire time.

It worked out fine, I was able to get a bunch of stuff done that I had neglected and was able to spend extra time playing with the rats. Gary and I spent some more time with that 2000 piece puzzle. It is easy to find the pieces that match but 2000 of them is a lot!

I am cleaning this morning and then Gary and I are planning on going out to lunch or dinner together. The place we were thinking about going to is the one my parents took me for my b-day-- outdoor seating overlooking the lake. But ATM it is raining so we might see if we want to go somewhere else instead.

HAGD!!!

I just took the dogs out and it looks like it is going to be a nice day! :whoo:

Nancy- hmm, I can't imagine since with smoked salmon but if your guys liked it, more power to them! Stranger Things is addicting, isn't it? We have two more episodes of Orange Is the New Black and this season is so intense.

Kay- did the sun ever come out by you? Happy for you to get a good visit with your DD but I am sorry to hear about her SIL. :(

NJ schools still go back after Labor Day, but summers seem to get shorter and faster.

Good luck with your printer. I am having crazy issues with my Bluetooth devices (Blueteeth??? ). The Fitbit won't connect with the computer but can connect with the phone. The phone keeps dropping from the regular connection in the house but not the car. SMH!

Felis- That stinks about the car, was your dad and cousin able to get it running again? how is your kitty today? Glad that the chipmunk story made you smile, I knew it would.
Not a tactless question about Lyme at all. Gary was bitten by a lot of ticks back in the '70s when he was a kid. Lyme bacteria can go dormant in its cyst forms, for years or decades. Lyme can also be transmitted sexually and congenitally- same as syphilis which is also a spirochete and are "cousins" in the bacterial family. I most likely got it from him and then passed it to the kids when I was pregnant. The longer you have it, the harder it is to treat. And two courses of antibiotics aren't enough to treat even an early infection but that is what a lot of Drs recommend. :(

I better get going. love to all of you!

Morning, gals. Been out pulling and spraying some weeds in the yard. Needed to do it while it was cool. Had a cool front come in yesterday afternoon. The temp when from 92 to 67 in less than an hour! ! ! Felt like a touch of fall! Woke up to rain yesterday and ended up with rain again late in the afternoon until late evening. So glad to see it. Yes, we did have a bit of sun around noon but then back to cloudy skies yesterday. Woke up to 67 this AM so dressed and out getting those pesky weeds taken care of. Checked on the plums... they did about another week yet. Sun is out right now but expecting rain again today! Not complaining as we need rain. August is our rainiest month [monsoon season] so expect to have it off and on most days.

Chris, thanks for explaining about Lyme's... didn't know it could be spread like that. So sorry your family has to deal with it! Sorry you didn't get together with your BFF yesterday. Yeah, my DD has had some problems with her blue tooth devices, too. Hope you get that straightened out soon.

Felis, so sorry about your car breaking down. Glad you have family that can help repair it. My DD#1 does machine embroidery - not hand embroidery. She has a computerized Brothers sewing/embroidery machine. The 'Footsteps" design was done in rectangles [2 across X 7 down], sewn together and edges bound to make the hanging. It is breath-taking. If she posts a photo of it, I will let you know. Yes, the whole family is devastated that DD#1's sister-in-law is dying from cancer. She only has a few weeks as it had already spread before it was diagnosed.

Nancy, glad you mentioned about the Paul Newman sauce. I have a couple of jars of that so may have some for supper tonight. That sounds so good. Not sure I would like smoked salmon with it, though. I do love smoke salmon grilled lightly with a baked potato and salad.

Well, guess I am going to break down and buy a new printer. It is on sale for 50% off this week so now is the time to buy. Just wished the ink for it would be on sale, too. <<< sigh >>>

Hope you all have a good day.

good morning - well I finished season 3 of Stranger Things. It is a great show and I hope it continues. Got some scrapping done which is good. Watched baseball. Because the Yankees were rain delayed I got to watch both the Mets and the Yankee games. Have a few chores to do before going out for a pedicure and dinner with my girlfriend. That makes me happy. My DH had to go to doctor and he has some infected bug bites so he is on antibiotics and steroid cream for the itching. Poor guy. But he takes Luther through the forests and bushes and in shorts so his legs are just asking to be bitten.

Chris we had rain and thunder this morning but not bad but I expect this afternoon it will be pretty bad as the humidity and temps will feed the storms. Sorry you did not get the swim in. Have fun with going out with your main guy! Hope it works out to be able to eat over looking the lake.

Kay that is the pits about the printer. It should not be acting up if it is only a year old. Hope you can figure out the problems. I am happy with my epson - it prints 12x12 so that makes me really happy! I loved doing embroidery and I am glad to know that the tradition has not died. I have no one to pass it on too as my boys are not interested and my DIL is more into sewing. I am glad that too has not been lost. That is so sweet of your daughter to create this for her SIL. I am so sorry to hear she has cancer. Hope the weather improves so you can scrap!

Felis sorry to hear about the car. I am not sure anyone can now fix the new model cars with all their computer run engines. Hope your dad and cousin were able to get the car running. That was nice of you to be the hostess. Sorry that kitty did not feel well.

Have a great day all!

Back after an extended absence. Took time off to help my sick brother (my best friend) who got a defibrulator put in, then I came home and got ready for my dream week in the Barbados in an all exclusive resort. My hubby, daughter and son in law planned this two years ago and we were so looking forward to it. It was wonderful and everything we had hoped. 3 days in my brother died suddenly. I really took the wind out of my sails so to speak and I am existing now. I take comfort in what Kay posts about her departed husband.

My daughter from Japan came in town. We have had so much fun but 2 weeks goes by so quick. Still can't believe she has another year and possibly more if she extends. She loves it there and I hope she does. I miss her, but she is loving it.

Kay you have to have a printer so hope you get one at a good deal. Sorry the other one didn't work out. I have no luck with printers, but DH and I bought a laser and it is great.

Felis...sorry about the car.

Chris- our schools start back tomorrow in Louisiana. it is so weird. I know beach towns (Virginia Beach, etc) keep the Labor day schedule. We always keep extra days built in for hurricanes, flooding (all the time), Mardi Gras and hail storms. Weather is a big factor here. If we don't use them, then the kids get out early- usually early May.
