I have been watching the weather reports and updates on Idalia and am sending lots of good thoughts to everyone affected by this storm. It seems to be getting stronger as it passes over the Gulf and scarier as well. If you live in the area, please check in when you can. :grouphugyay:

NJ and a lot of the Middle Atlantic states are having heavy rain today too, but nothing like FL. It will be a good day to stay in and get some work done around here. The past couple of days have been scattered and chopped up. As I get older, I have a harder time transitioning from one thing to the next. Has anyone else experienced that as well? Not only that, but I get distracted way easier too.

(I'm turning into my mom and while that has its good side, sometimes it's a little concerning :rotfl: )

Otter is doing better after the cortisone but wow, she scared the you-know-what out of me yesterday morning. I went to check on her before I went to my mom's and I couldn't find her. She had been on the bottom level of the cage when I had seen her an hour earlier. she wasn't coming out of the house on that level. I am pulling the bedding out of the cage (It was like the scene in A Christmas Story with the Major Award). I am shaking the bucket of the good treats. The other two are trying to desperately get my attention but all I can think is where is Otter???? Is she alive???
I finally look at the top level (the cage is about 5' and has 4 levels) and she is hanging out in the little house. Just chilling. Because she was unsteady and her tail was weak, Cait didn't want her all the way up there in case she lost her balance and fell. I bring the little house to the bottom level and then put her down too. The next thing I see is her climbing up to the third level. I figure that she knows what she is capable of, right?
There is no way to tell how long the cortisone will last but as Caitlyn said last night, every day is a gift. ♥

The other good news is that the seamstress said that she sees no problem with the hem of the dress. I tried it on with 2" heels and that made a difference. If I can get my ankle strong enough to wear 3" ones, that will be even better. Overall-- a very good day.

Today I am grateful that Otter is doing good!

Good morning ladies. This morning I'm grateful that we aren't predicted to have much weather...a few winds and some rain....but nothing bad. Hoping that our friends on the other side of the state stay safe.

There was no work yesterday...they never did get our connectivity back. They had hardware problems. We were supposed to hear more at 8:30 and we have heard nothing. In 15 minutes I will try to log on.

@faerywings I love that the seamstress said that the dress should be fine! One less thing to stress about. Glad that Otter had a good day yesterday. Don't we all need to learn to be thankful for one good day?!!

@BrightEyes I hate waking up early like that. I'm in the same boat today...woke up at 4:15 and couldn't go back to sleep because I wanted to find out what Idalia was doing. Now, I'm sure that I'll be drinking coffee all day to try to stay awake for work.

@vickyday glad that you got your mammogram. I try to be faithful with that because, if caught early, breast cancer is one of the things that they know how to treat. And I don't want to have to think that I could have done something about it if I had just had a mammogram. Hope it wasn't too bad and that today you will reward yourself with lunch out with Mark or Ilene...or some other treat.

@bcgal00 hope you got some constructive feedback on the house.

@Cherylndesigns did you get a nap? I may need to grab one on my lunch hour...and that's the benefit of working from home.

The birds are out at the feeders this morning. They are very active...I have cardinals, the downy woodpecker and some wrens at the feeders right now.

3" heels. Pfft. The Younger Me would scoff. I used to run around in 5" heels, no problem. These days... nope! :giggle4:

@BrightEyes Hang in there with the humidity and arthritis. Did the chair massager help yesterday? You must have enjoyed looking through all of the family photos and I am sure Karen will love having copies too.
Do you miss the Red Hat meetings? they always seemed like such a good time. I can see why you don't need 40 red hats LOL!

@LSlycord be safe and lots of strong power line vibes! get the generator now, then you won't have ever to use it. We got a small one after Sandy (2012) and I think we have used it twice for short periods, like an hour or so each time. hehe. It looks like the path shifted westward so that's good news for you guys.
Congrats on the land!!!
Sending you lots and lots of good vibes and hugs for the upcoming Dr appts. It has to be very nerve-wracking, but it seems like you are in good, capable hands. I hope that you are a candidate for the TAVR (I had to re-google that).

@vickyday I will look for the hawk page, I didn't see it yesterday but will look again. Hope that mammo went well and that you had a nice time hanging with the grandsons.

Sealing og grands, I saw on FB that Trudy's family have gone back home. @taxed4ever sending lots of love to you, I know you must be missing them terribly :hug3:

@bcgal00 How did the meeting with the realtors go? It has to be a tough spot for you. You need money to move, but how "safe" or practical is it for you to stay if you can't get health care? What a Catch-22. :(

@Cherylndesigns I was really happy with the reaction from the seamstress to the dress. My mom wants her to do the alterations instead of the woman in town here. She has been in business for 35 years and I got my veil for her and my bridesmaids' dresses too. If that is what makes my mom happy, it is easy enough to do that.
Hope that you were able to get a nap or to recharge yourself yesterday. BTW- I am been doing wall push-ups daily and I can tell I am getting stronger. Need to get rid of my flabby arms :)

Glad the dress is OK after all!
Turning into you mother.......we ALL do to some extent.....even though we vow we will not! ;)

I did the mammo more for my daughters than for me. I did have an aunt on mom's side to die of breast cancer when I was very young, probably 60 years ago now. I really was not worried about not having mammograms the last 15 years (after the last mammogram tech really hurt me). If I am to die of breast cancer no amount of screening is going to prevent my "destiny" from happening. And I'm ready to go!

I'm not so sure that my current OBGYN didn't make up the story of feeling something to get me to go. Whatever. That was the most pleasant unpleasant mammogram I have ever had. She smoothed everything out and lowered the vice grips slowly, adjusting as she went, to make sure there was no unnecessary pulling of the skin or pinching. I will do another screening when the time comes. Medicare only pays for paps every other year, so I figure mammograms are probably the same. I'll have to check into it.

Yes, Mark and I will probably do lunch today.

All good with the mammo. These particular grandsons are still young enough that they wanted to be on the move, LOL! So they retreated to the outdoors! All they needed me for was to feed them, LOL!

Good Morning!
One mammogram now behind me. After not having one in 15 years because of a bad experience, this mammogram was the most pleasant unpleasant experience I have ever had, LOL! And instead of sending you home without results, they sent me to a waiting room and treated you to snacks while waiting for the doctor to read the pictures. Everything is good, thank You, LORD!
Today will probably be lunch with Mark and I need to grab some groceries while out and about.
The weather is cloudy and humid. Not sure if it is actually supposed to rain or not.
I think I will pop a Stouffers Lasagna into the oven for supper tonight, so I need to grab some salad makings and garlic bread while at the store.
Other than that, I need to do some commenting in the gallery and will probably do some more knitting while listening to my current audiobook, Catching the Wind by Melanie Dobson. Its a fictional about 2 kids whose parents were killed by the German Gestapo back in 1940 and they escaped on foot to England but were separated. 75 years later he is looking for her. So far so good!
Have a great day!

Morning, all. At least I slept in until 5:25 AM this morning - even though I fell asleep at 8:30PM last night. Yes, the massager and arthritis meds did help.

@faerywings I remember altering the wedding dress for DS#1 wife... she was 4'9". I had to take the scalloped lace hem loose from side-front-side then cut a 20" tapered wedge of fabric off and re-attach the scalloped lace. She also had to wear 4" high heels. Good luck on getting your MoB dress altered.

@LSlycord Sure hoping that the hurricane misses your area and there is minimal damage at your place. I have dear friends that live about 50 miles west of Jacksonville.. so will be checking on them after the storm goes through.

@vickyday Glad you had a good experience with the mammo this time. My one last year is the new 3-D mammo and was so much easier.. no pain and got the results of it after a short wait.

I finally finished a 2-page spread about my Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim living in Kabul, Afghanistan 1960-1961. Yes, the photos are from the boxes of photos that my sister brought over. Took me a quite awhile to scan the photos in and then edit/repair/enhance them. And to finally do the journaling. I posted the LOs in the genealogy section.

Time to get dressed, check BP and if it is okay, will run a couple of errands. HAGD

Good morning ladies. Brought my laptop in for servicing, a hinge broke off and the lid is hanging open with the wiring exposed. The guy will let me know in a few days if he can fix it and if it is worth it. It is 6 yrs old but works great so not sure yet if I need to replace it.

Booked an 8 hr tour for France for us. The next day we are in Genoa Italy, my birthday, so will do some research today to see what tour I want to book.

We might have an open house showing on Sunday. Waiting to hear back from realtor feedback from yesterday and if anyone will be around this wkend to come (long wkend so might have to wait one more wkend). I think the problem is the price b/c everyone is looking for cheaper smaller homes b/c of the interest and economy right now. Fingers crossed.

It’s so awkward, sitting here with my ipad instead of typing on my laptop. Takes so much longer.

@faerywings Glad the dress alteration might work out.
@LSlycord Stay safe, saw the weather this morning on our news.

I’m going to get more coffee and read my book. HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon all,

Well, I never did get a nap yesterday. About the time I told Daisy we were going to lay down, the girls (Adrienne and Ava) and the dogs walked in. I'd rather visit with my girls than take a nap anyway. We had a nice visit and they stayed for quite awhile. Adrienne likes to come down here to get away from work and she has "her chair" our recliner and nobody else is allowed to sit in it when she's here. She'll tell them to get out - it's hers. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: I DID have a PJ day, though - does that count?

Chris @faerywings good news about the MoB dress and I can just see you wobbling around in 3" heels - Oh yeah, baby. :floorlaugh: Most of the years I worked in an office, we wore heels every day. I don't even own a pair now. I have several pairs of flats for "dress up". Did I ever tell you the story of my MoB dress for Steph's wedding? I broke my foot a couple of weeks before her wedding (coincidentally shopping at a ritzy shoe store for my MoB shoes) and had to wear one of the black walking boots to her wedding. Boy, did I look fancy. I ended up wearing black Pallazzo pants and a fancy beaded top. I had initially purchased a very beautiful dress in sage green, but there was NO way I was wearing that dress with that ugly black boot. I found a pair of black heels I think they were about 1/2" heels and it made both of my feet the same height. They might have been 1" I can't remember. Fortunately, our color palette was black and white and sage green. I jazzed my outfit up with beautiful black jewelry. I prefer black anyway, so it all worked out, except I hobbled around all night.

Vicky @vickyday good news about your mammogram. Glad you've got that over with for a couple of years.

Waving to Kay @BrightEyes and Rae @bcgal00 and Trudy @taxed4ever Chris @faerywings tiny little rat hugs to Otter. :hug3:

XOXO

I was hoping for the 3D but they needed to get a baseline since it had been 15 years and a different state. I'm glad it was much better than my last one!

Hey Chris @faerywings before I forget.............................I was just doing my wall pushups and remembered that you said you were doing them now. They are SO beneficial, and I've been doing them for a long time. Everything old is new again - On Instagram - I know you're not on there a lot, but there are whole "workouts" that people are doing against the wall. It's insane how that has re-invented itself and people are probably selling the workout videos. I saw one the other day on "Pilates Wall Workouts".

Here's just a random one I found:
