Hey there, dear Oooos!

It really feels like Autumn, so chilly out there. How was your Monday?

I feel like I was busy non-stop but at the same time, I didn't do too much of anything. Sounds familiar? To me, it's like that every day, innit? My "big" project was to go into the attic and bag up some garbage. Everyone is getting on each other's cases about the attic being stuffed full of junk and garbage so my goal of to bag up some stuff every week and bring it to the curb. I went straight for the Easter baskets. We don't celebrate Easter and I haven't decorated for Easter since the kids were in Elem School. No need to have a gazillion baskets and grass and plastic eggs.

After that, I sorted through some more photos and scanned a few. That took much longer than it should have since my "good" photo scanner is so far out of date that there aren't any drivers available for it anymore. :( I don't use that one often, I have a little multi-function scanner/printer for everyday stuff. I was really bummed that I couldn't get the good one to work, then it took me forever to get the settings right on the newer one.
Here's a pic of Caitlyn and Dani way back when:

They look like they are around 3.
Me with slightly big hair circa 1990

I have to find the ones from the 80s-- much bigger then LOL

I totally jinxed myself as well. I tried scrapping the last two days and pfft. Nothing, nada, big fat goose egg.
I bragged about how pleased I was with the last few pages I made. I pissed off my Muse, didn't I? Got all cocky and big for my britches hahaha!
I'll try again today. Gary asked me to go to TJ Maxx with him to look for something to wear for Cait and Tom's party. Sheesh, I don't know! Nice jeans and a nice shirt?? It's not fancy, but he does need something nicer than a t-shirt.

Oh- I also messed up ACDSee again, but I *think* I fixed it
Since I was scanning a lot of photos, I turned the Face Recognition back on. Within a minute, it crashed and wouldn't restart until I created a new database. Turned that off and so far, so good. *fingers crossed*

Hope you have a wonderful day!

@tanteva I promise to find the big hair photos soon!
I understand the stress of meal planning on a budget, it sucks. I hope that getting back on track with WW helps too.
I have been freaking about electric/oil prices too, it is going to be a non-stop battle over the thermostat this winter, me turning it down and yelling at everyone to put on their seventh layer and fourth hat.

Have a good day today/tomorrow at work!

@bcgal00 you live in such a beautiful area, I was drooling over the pics you posted of your hike on FB. How was the hike with everyone yesterday? Scott said he hiked for 4 hours on the job yesterday morning, he wanted to check all of the trails at the one park before the end of the season. Beavers dammed up one of the streams because of the drought and it's going to cause two trails to need to be "deleted" or rerouted.
So happy that you love the new lens! You could probably take the most amazing pics with a pinhole camera however :D

@Cherylndesigns Poor Sam and cold fur! It's the same temp here today, 47* but highs will be in the upper 60s
Good for you for tossing the pics that were unrecognizable. I felt guilty about doing the same but I did that too. Pics of kids I have no idea who they are, blurry ones that were similar to ones that were good.
I found a stack of ones I *think* from when I was student teaching at a preschool because it was of a suuuuuuper creepy clown (aren't they all?) reading in circle time. No idea who the kids were-- all in the garbage
Any better idea of how Ian is tracking, my fingers are crossed for your family, Linda and Cindy too. My aunt lives on the east coast so she should be fine

@vickyday hahaha! Yup, I still have the curly/humidity mess of hair. My 80s hair was "helped" with a can of AquaNet!
So sorry that your stomach was in bad shape, hope that you are 100% today
Good luck as you keep scanning your photos!

@BrightEyes Wow! That is a great price for gas! Still hoping it comes down a little more in my town, it's still around $3.59.
Good luck with the booster, is this one the bivalent? I have heard anecdotally that some people react to that one a little more than the regular boosters. I am waiting until the end of Oct to get mine, and flu, so I should have good coverage through the winter. My last booster was at the end of May
Good to know another WM/Good Value coffee, I will keep it in mind if I am back there
My library never seems to have to Kay Hooper books that I am looking for and almost none of them are available to download. I really enjoy them after you recommended them, glad and a little jealous of your KH Library LOL

love to you all

Good morning. All of my attention today will be on Hurricane Ian and I don't even live in a bad spot relatively speaking. They are telling us that we will probably get flooding, high winds and power outages. But we will be safe.

Andie still isn't doing well. We too her to the vet on Sunday and they ran blood work and didn't see any problems but I think we are taking her back today. She has a hot spot that she wants to chew on and she only eats a tiny bit and drinks even less. She mainly acts depressed...doesn't act like anything is hurting her.

Also trying to get Syd to come home after last class today since they have canceled classes for the rest of the week. She is stubborn...but she also doesn't want to worry her mom unnecessarily so I think I've got a good shot. Her last class is over soon enough that she would be able to drive home in the daylight. However, they are giving away 200 tickets with transportation to the Halloween night fun at Universal Studios so she doesn't want to come home before the giveaway.

Good grief...not liking this new stage of motherhood so much!

Dang @faerywings you were a knockout!!! (You still look pretty darned good lady!) And I love the big hair. I have a photo that I need to scrap...taking the big hair to the max! (And when I say I love it, I mean I love the memories...the hair itself...whoever thought that was a good idea?!) Love the pic of the girls...and hope that you can get out with Gary and find him something to wear for the party! I'm sure that you are looking forward to that shopping trip...NOT! Hopefully you can get there when there aren't many people and find something right away! Yes, Floridians are out buying up all of the food just like those of us in the north do for a blizzard...except they know it is coming longer and so they get to make more trips.

@tanteva hope you got all of your cooking done! And very glad that you have a job to do where you love your work. Did they extend it permanently or are the new laws still an issue?

@bcgal00 hope that yesterday's exploring day turned out great and that you found some new photo ops!

@Cherylndesigns I'm sure that you are more nervous watching Steph and Asher from afar than when you are with them. Can't believe how cool your overnight temps are getting.

@vickyday I am going to start my scanning project today. Oh boy...here we go down the rabbit hole!

@BrightEyes sorry about the watch battery but that is a huge score on gasoline. And exciting about your books. I don't believe that I have ever read either of those authors.

Ok, need to go dig out my solar powered battery packs and get them charged in case we need them. I'm sure I'll be back today.

Well, I didn't get any reading of past dailies done yesterday......just lots of scanning......and one more heritage layout before going to bed at 3 a.m. I have thrown away a couple of pictures instead of scanning them, but I'm not doing very well with letting go! My late husband went through a creative photography phase where he was processing his own in his dark room. Some of those photos mean nothing to me, but I scanned them anyway. If they don't mean anything to me, they surely won't to my kids! Sigh!
Here's an example of one.....

You are so right, Linda! It is definitely a rabbit hole that I have to find my way out of each night! I'm making it worthwhile by doing one heritage page a day.....trying to, anyway!

Good morning ladies. We had a fun drive yesterday, really not too much to see where we went but we had fun, had lunch in a little diner in a small town that only had one restaurant that we could find aside from a Subway and A&W. I did get photos of turkey vultures, some goats on the side of the road and butterflies. We drove to a lake (for the dogs to go swimming) only to find that there was no access, only two private roads that were block with metal gates. I'm guessing they were fishing lodges. They had signs that said only accessible by private guests. But we did find a wonderful creek along the drive back that the dogs played in for awhile and I photographed them and butterflies.

Talked to a friend last night and she had a scary situation on the wkend, driving to a photographic area down a dirt road and was followed and chased by a fellow in a pickup trick. It was a single lane dirt road out in the middle of nowhere. She luckily had remembered a small patch of dirt behind a row of trees and she booted it, kicked up tons of dirt and swung into that little hole, swinging her car so she face outwards. She rolled down windows and listened for his approach. He slowly drove by, looking left and right, for her. She hit the gas, flew out of there, he backed up, swung into that spot and turned around too and followed her. She drove fast, bouncing all over the road but thankfully didn't hit a tree or anything and he finally gave up. That's insane. We agreed that carrying bear spray would be a good idea.

I'm going to take her out this wkend to a nearby town that we've been to before and enjoy the park there. Safety in numbers.

The hospital medical imaging called me at dinner time last night but I had my phone ringer turned down (by accident when I was fiddling with the phone in the car) and missed the call. They didn't leave a message which they would have done I'm sure if they were calling to postpone my appt on Thurs but probably they had a cancellation that I could have taken last night. Oh well. Only two more days to wait. I really would like this removed soon and hopefully it won't coincide with our Vancouver trip to see Elton John in 3 wks. I won't have a choice, I need to be treated as soon as they can do it but, fingers crossed, it doesn't wreck our plans.

Today I'm home, just the dog park this afternoon. A quiet day.

@faerywings Love the old photos. I had big hair too which is unbelievable b/c my hair is so fine and thin but with crimping/curling/spraying and teasing, I did it LOL.

@LSlycord Poor Andie. Hope your daughter makes it home. If she hangs around hoping for a ticket, fingers crossed she gets one.

Time to get coffee and get outside to feed the birds. Totally forgot.

Just a quick pop-in with updates. Syd has decided to come home after her last class today and a friend of hers from Long Island is coming as well. He will spend the night and then we will run him up to the airport in Jacksonville and his parents are flying him home. So now I'm running around doing some cleaning...yikes! Good thing that I have a few hours!

Andie is doing better. She drank a bowl of water and ate a can of chicken breast and seems to be better. Decided that we didn't need a vet run today after all.

Shaun's classes have been canceled for the rest of the week as well. If we get lucky and don't lose power, I just get extra time with my family. And get to hear from a friend of Sydney about what it is like down at UF.

Good afternoon, all. This is going to be a quick in and out and hopefully I can do personals later. I had a bad night and it was interrupted several times. My legs went into cramp mode in the middle of the night. Not Restless legs Syndrome - but painful cramps. They do this periodically and it's really bad. I've decided that stress brings it on. We had a stressful evening - power went out and we had no water. Of course, Roger is gone - every time he leaves, something happens. We finally got both back. The guys working up there cut a line (this is about the tenth time it's happened). Anyway, I had to get up for about an hour with my legs - I took a couple of potassium tablets and they finally kicked in, so I went back to bed. Then, the phone calls started early - I'm very worried about Steph and Asher - they're predicting a huge storm surge there. They're in a flood zone, too. They're going to stay with friends, but it won't be until Wed. It's just crazy down there when a hurricane is coming. They're running out of gas, however, Steph said she saw gas trucks at most of the stations. The preparation plan there is pretty slick.

I'll try to stop back in soon - I have the GSO blog post to do today, so I'd better get cracking.

Finally made it in here. Was running errands most of the day. Got me an "always hot" coffee mug from Burlington. Then stopped at Sam'sClub and grabbed a couple of long sleeve TeeTops and a pair of slide-on plush slippers. My old ones are tattered and torn so time to pitch them. Then it was over to get my latest Covid shot (the bi-mix one) then made a stop home to unload the groceries and also take a 'just in case' pain pill with a bite to eat. Checked and my reserve book - "Nightwork" by Nora Roberts - was in at the library. Took the other library books back and picked up the reserve book plus 3 others in the 'new release' section. Decided to go to the Friends of Literacy used book/dvd store as long as I was out. They changed the price on the DVDs...down from $2 each to $1 each... plus added a whole bunch of new ones to the shelves. I ended up with 18 DVDs so have plenty to watch. :D Realized on the way home that my left shoulder and under the back shoulder blade was getting sore and stiff. Bet it is from the Covid shot. Have a feeling that I am not going to be feeling very good - very soon - so signing off. Will be back one I am better.

I hope your shoulder doesn't get as bad as mine did after I got my last booster, Kay. It took forever to not hurt. I still have a "scabby thing" where I got my shot! I'm a "picker" and I've picked it off several times and it's still there. Weird.

Glad you got some new tees and new fuzzy slippers. Sounds like you're set for cold weather.
