Happy first day of...Halloween!:wickedwitch
Oh yeah, October is always a fun and spooky month for us here in the Faery house. I am sure that I have shared this story over the years I have been here, but I will share it again. Sott was young and whispered to me one day that Halloween was his favorite holiday and could I please not tell Santa!

My brother brought me a bag of pumpkin foods from Trader Joe's the other day. Cait was going to make pumpkin waffles for dinner last night but Scott had to stay late at school. Last minute, I grabbed some butternut squash pasta from the bag and made that with some sage and butter for dinner. I lit my pumpkin caramel candle and am ready to celebrate.

BFF and I had a great time catching up yesterday- kids, pets, parents, you name it, we talked about it. And she *loved* my hair. I was so happy that she did and told her the only reason I was able to go through with cutting so much off was because of her. And all of those photos she texted me for inspiration LOL

I stopped at Lowe's on the way home and picked up the stripper for the DR table, the wood conditioner, and stain. As I was leaving, I had this feeling that it was more expensive than I expected. But then, maybe I misread the label. So when did I become *convinced* that the amount I paid was wrong? 3 am. Yup, 3 am. I woke up in the middle of the night and thought that there was *no way* the total was that much. I tried to ignore it, put a sleep meditation on, and my mind would not stop drifting. I had to get out of bed, look at the receipt to see if I was right. Unfortunately, it wasn't an incorrect price but one item rang up twice. I don't know if I can do anything about it. I can bring the receipt back but how do I prove I only bought 1? I was so mad at myself for not listening to my gut before I left the store. It is only $15 but that is a lot of money to me. But to have to drive a half-hour to the store to possibly get a refund, I don't know if that makes sense either.

I am going to go food shopping this morning and then bring the table outside to start stripping it this afternoon. The weather is going to be warm and dry today and tomorrow so I should be able to get that done. I asked my friend if I could clean for her on Thursday instead of when it will be cool and rainy.

A busy day for sure, especially since I am running on little sleep. More :tea: please!

xoxo

Nancy- how did it feel to flip the calendar to October? Did it make the surgery seem closer? It seems like you are ready to go. The is awesome to hear about the Giant's QB, maybe they will have a better season.

Enjoy your leftovers!

Trudy- Oh my goodness, how adorable of Mason and the neighbor!! That must have melted your heart! So sweet.

Good to hear that you are getting yard work taken care of. My yard is a mess and there are so many leaves. Bad mix to have leaves coming down every day and three dogs...
My mom is all raring to go down the shore if the Dr tells her it is OK.
Her cardiac rehab is set to start on Oct 24 and I am so glad that she is doing that.

I better get going- Gay said that I should go back to the store for the refund, that they should honor my word. So food shopping, Lowe's and then stripping the table. blergh...
love to all!

Good morning ladies... I am going to start back to swimming my laps this morning. I have already had a face time chat with Heather and Hunter, they seems to be doing well despite both of them having a cough and cold. It is warm there for them today, not like our weather. I woke up to a chilly 4 degrees celsius brrr!! However the sun is shining and it looks to be nice for at least today and then the rains are coming, it looks like wet weather for the the next week. I found two nice potted Mums yesterday and now my front porch is all decorated for the fall season. If it warms up enough today I will touch up the paint on the front steps. Some of the stairs bubbled with the heat from the summer and the kids had a great time peeling the paint off of the stairs LOL. DH doesn't want to touch it up until the spring, but it looks really awful so I will try to get it done and see if he even notices.

Chris - What a wonderful visit you had with your BFF! It is always so fun to catch up with old friends! You waking up at 3am realizing that you paid the wrong price for your items, that sounds like something that would happen to me!! I would have to get out of bed and go and check the receipt too!! Then stew about for the rest of night and not get anymore sleep!! :mmph: Yes you should go back to the store and get your refund, they should have on record how many they actually have left in the store to prove that you were charged twice, but I am sure they wouldn't be bothered with that and will give you your money back! Have fun stripping your table, not a fun job I know, but you will be out in the warm weather at least! Hope it turns out great!

So much to catch up on here at the O and I really would love to get some scrapping done today. We will see what the day brings me! Have a great day ladies!!

Morning, gals. Been up and busy as a cat on a hot tin roof...with Digital Scraping Day here... so much to get done. And the start of October with the new challenges opened up! Woke up to higher temps this AM... in the 70's already so guess the mid-to-high 80's prediction is correct. I am more than ready of the 'normal' temps in the low 70's for a high. While I was out in the garage yesterday, I noticed that I still have a large bin with long sleeved tee-shirts out there. I thought I had moved all of my clothes into the MB closet last spring. Will be needing them soon so have to rearrange things... again!

DD#2 called yesterday afternoon - had not talked to her in a month - so glad we had a nice long visit. She is doing much better and settling back into being back at work. Unfortunately my voice gave out on me toward the end of the call. Still having a sore throat/laryngitis from sinus drainage that has been going on for a couple of weeks. Taking allergy meds for it but ran out of cough meds so the throat isn't happy. Yep... hot tea with honey is usually my staple drink but ran out of honey so the hot tea isn't doing as much.

Chris, glad you have a nice visit with BFF. Yikes... sorry you woke up and worried about how much you paid. Hope that Lowe's will refund the excess they charged you. Good luck on getting that taken care of right away.

Trudy, glad you are getting back into swimming again. I know how much you enjoy it. Nice catch on the new pots of mums for seasonal decorations. I am not doing much of that... all my fall decorations are up in the attic and I won't go up there anymore. The grandsons haven't been over lately [they are the ones that get stuff down for me].

Am off to the Post Office to mail some bills then a stop at the library as the new Nora Roberts "Under currents" is finally on the hold shelf for me!!! YEAH!!! Tomorrow will be busy too as the "Life After Loss" group meets and I need to stop at the bread store while I am over that way. Hope every one has a good start to the month!

Good morning girls!
I'm so excited about my new goodies from the flash sale! As I start to scrap with the kit who inspired the ideas that mean now I'm full of new ideas. Forecast promise rainy weekend, so I hopefully be able to finish my 52 and scrap something other too!
This month begin very sunny and warm and I'm out as much as it's possible. Gardening right now is mostly removing falling branches and dried flowers. And I feels like I waste my time in work and daily errands, and I don't take the necessary time to love properly my kids, neither my family. So we try after work and before the sunset to sit on the bench, drinking coffee or tea and just to talk and rest for a half hour. I'm petrified, the life running so fast and just slip through my fingers.

Chris, the holiday season started, yay! We make pumpkin lamps and even not celebrate Halloween here, so I completely understand your excitement! Yikes, $15 is daily income here and it's awful to lose so much, but honestly to drive back there probably cost more, and unfortunately you can't prove anything. Sorry that this happens to you!

Kay, enjoy the good weather and I'll hope your throat to be better soon!

Trudy, get fun at the pool, hope it's not too full with people! Men, why they do this?! ... I just don't get it, but my dad is the same. One of the rooms desperately needs from repainting, but he wants to wait until spring, even now is still very warm and it definitely can dry good.
Hope you'll be able to fix your front steps alone! Honestly, I think that ladies are better in painting and we should do it, but buying of the right paint is what confused us in my family  .
Will you show us your potted decoration?! And I'll show you mine. I'm not sure did on the seeds package this 'flower' was looking like that, but at least it grows very well. :tongue1:
