Good news-- today is Gary's birthday *and* I remembered!
#clap

I am glad that I am not as cranky as I was yesterday, it took hours to get out of that. I must have had bad dreams that night to put me in that grumpy of a mood. I am still not sleeping well but I guess that is going to be the norm. There is all of that research that suggests you need less sleep as you get older-- IMHO, it is all bunk, it is just to make us feel like it is normal to toss and turn all night long. A conspiracy brought to you by Big Sleep Bwuahahaha!!!!!!

Like yesterday, I have a lot of house stuff to catch up on here. I am making one of Gary's favorite dinners-- chicken pie- I have the filling in the freezer, just need to make the crust. His "big" b-day dinner and cake will be on Friday. I feel so awful, I don't have any gifts for him. Just some plain t-shirts. Both of us are struggling to think of a gift for Caitlyn's graduation. Any suggestions? On a budget? *winks* No jewelry/computer/car. Gary asked what we did for Scott when he graduated college and I had to remind him that they both graduated in 2020 and we did nothing for either of them.
Scott b-day is in 2 weeks-- anyone have a suggestion for a gift for him as well??

Wishing you all a joy-filled day! Like a jelly donut :D

@BrightEyes smilies-- especially coffee smilies-- are a good way to start the day
Still no rain in the forecast? I am keeping my fingers crossed that you get some soon. I remember how awful it was out here last summer with the smokey air and that was nothing compared to what you all deal with regularly.

@taxed4ever I wish I could send some rain to the areas that need it too in exchange for some warmer temps.
oh no, what a misadventure on the hike-- 16 miles!!!!! I would have passed out, given up, turned into a puddle of tears. That glass of wine must have been delicious, especially since you were sitting haha
Yes, the rolling pin smilie was one of the ones I used the most

@bcgal00 You hit the jackpot with your new location- the dogs must be thrilled to have so many places to go and explore. It must have been a good time to rebalance yourselves. I imagine you will never, ever stop missing Bailey but I am glad that you are more at peace with what happened (peace is probably not the right word but I hope you know what I mean) xoxo
Would you believe that I have only taken one photo with the new phone? And that was when I was cleaning the cabinet in the bathroom and I texted a pic to Gary to ask if he needed to keep 8 boxes of lancets I found buried there LOL!!
I should take some pics of the acorns, thanks for the idea!!

@tanteva happy scrapping today!!

@LSlycord ROTFLMBO- we are seeing you more here while you are on vacation than when you were working all week. That means you have to stay on vacation forever. It sounds like you are having a wonderful time!

@Cherylndesigns isn't that hysterical with the plants in the stroller? And I am a certified (certifiable) tree hugger, but even I don't think I would ever take my plants for a walk bwuahah!
Glad that your babies are enjoying the rain.
I used to sleep with crystals under my pillow- gave them to my kids to keep in their pockets when they went to school to give them a way to stay grounded. Especially Scott who was usually off in his head somewhere. hah
I should try that again, even if it is 100% placebo effect, that all makes a difference

Time to get my day started- Love to all!

Good Morning ! It is actually not raining this morning, at least not yet. It will be a day of scrapping for me and trying to figure out a card for MIL for Mother's Day. Other than that the only other thing I have to do is to try to figure out what to have for supper. If the rain holds off I will get out for a short walk today too. Yesterday I ended up meeting SIL at the grocery store, she had a gift for MIL for Mother's Day and wanted to drop it off as she won't be joining us for the day. We decided to invite MIL and FIL for Chinese Dinner at our place and invited the sisters and spouses too. However SIL Linda will be spending the day with her oldest son, which is wonderful because they do not get together much. Long story, but they were estranged for many years. This is the first Mother's Day spent with him in more than 10 years at least. So now I have to figure out just what my Gary and I can have in the way of Chinese food LOL. MIL just loves it and they are very excited to be able to come for dinner! We will send leftovers home with them. (If there are any lol).

@faerywings - Happy, Happy Birthday to your Gary!!! #birthday. I hope he has an awesome day! If you are anything like my Gary and I we really don't worry about gifts for each other for our birthdays! Unless it is a very special one! I am sure he will love the t-shirts that you got him! As for a graduation gift for Caitlyn?? How about a money cake, it doesn't have to be a lot of money, but might be a fun project for you and your Gary. Perhaps others could add to it and then you could make it a group gift, with much more $$?

or perhaps a gift basket filled with her fav snacks and things? As for Scott's birthday? I will have to think about that one LOL. I struggle with what to get my own son! There was a point in our very long hike the other day when I was totally done LOL. However once I got past that point, it seemed to get better and we trudged onward . I won't be doing that long of hike again !!

@bcgal00 - It does sound like you have found some great spots to take the dogs! Hope you get to enjoy these spots a lot! Ugh on having to wash the walls and floor of the bathroom, but bet it was worth it!! Did you get to plant your honeysuckle bush? Are there many different plants that grow where you are than what you had on the mainland? I would imagine that your winters will be colder and much dryer, so there must be more hardy plants and bushes there. I hope you get to have coffee and watch your new birds finish off their building of the nest! Hopefully you are all done unpacking now.

@LSlycord - How nice that you are keeping us up to date with your trip! Sounds like it is amazing! Had to laugh at the getting high from all the cannabis on your facebook post! Seems to be that way here too, so many pot stores and the smell is just awful!! Hope you have another exciting day today! Look forward to hearing all about it!

@Cherylndesigns - That is great that you have found something to help you sleep better! I might have to give those things a closer look! I am at the point where I will try anything to stay asleep all night long and not wake up 20 times every night! Hope you have a sunny day today!

Ok off to empty the dishwasher and make the bed. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning ladies. We have started a new routine in the morning. We are taking our coffee and phones out to the deck when we get up. Darrell plays games on his phone and after doing the daily wurdle I read a book on my phone. We watch the birds and look up at the grassland hills to see what's up there. This morning we saw a hiker with his dog who had walked to the top of the hill close to us, way too far and steep for me to do right now but maybe by next year. I bet the view from up top is amazing. We saw the wild cattle grazing on the hills.

D is off to get his blood work done. He made an appt but I bet the wait is still going to be long. Later today Jen and I will take the dogs to the park and later tonight we'll binge a few more episodes of Pieces Of Her on Netflix.

@faerywings Happy b-day to Gary. D and I don't do much for b-day gifts for each other anymore. Family time, a good movie and a good meal with cake for dessert is what we do usually. Maybe a good gift for C would be to buy a multi-pic frame and then with your new camera you could take some pics of her to put in it, maybe go to a park or somewhere scenic. For Scott, maybe some outdoor gear since he's outside a lot, maybe a new ball cap, water bottle, gloves, etc.

@taxed4ever Enjoy your walk today. Chinese food...maybe beef and broccoli?

I've got some CT work to do so will take advantage of the quiet house to work on that now. Later I will unpack more. I said there were about 25 boxes left but I was wrong, I unpacked 10 yesterday and there are still about 30 more. Slowly but surely....it will get done.

Good afternoon lovelies.

It's not raining today but we had a bad storm last night! Adrienne wanted us to come up to their house, but we stayed put. We were sitting here watch a show and didn't even know there were tornado warnings. I always laugh - when you're not watching regular TV (and we rarely do) the world could be collapsing around us and we'd never know.

Happy birthday to Gary!! We don't give each other gifts anymore. If we want something, we get it - LOL. We stopped the bd and other occasion gifts a long time ago. I saw some shirts that Chuck likes in the local dept store 2 weeks ago and brought 2 of them home to him. That's what we do. He loves shirts with snaps instead of buttons. I guess all the men want them now - the lady who owns the store says the shirts with snaps go first. They're trying to stock more of them.

Trudy @taxed4ever that cake looks cool! I haven't seen one of those - but the diaper cakes are similar. They're so labor intensive - my sister made one for her daughter. She said never again. The PhD I get emails from is Dr. Nicole Apelian if you'd like to start any research, I'd start with her. Unfortunately, she only ships to the US, but you could at least get an idea of what might help. She has an online apothecary and it's all broken down into specific categories. She won a survival show - can't remember the name, but she had to live off the land and they only gave a lean-to, fishing equipment and flint to start fires.

I'd better get off here. I started this convo at 11:45 and it's 1:25. LOL I've had lots of phone calls this morning. Happy Tuesday and Happy Birthday to Gary!! #birthday
